Year Group 9 Unit Global Tourism Task Title Changing Transport – Southampton to Cape Town MYP Aims and Objectives

• Skill: Google Earth skills of adding placemarks with descriptions and measuring distances.

• Knowledge: Production of a route card with distance, flight duration, safe flying conditions and route choice.

• Concepts: Production of a brochure that sells the overall experience of flying from Southampton to Cape Town in 1937.

Task Google Earth Tour: A single folder holding a labeled placemark for each seaplane landing site. Route Card: A table including the start and end point of each leg of the journey, the distance, the heading and the duration. Brochure: You can only fly in the daylight hours. Where would the passengers stay overnight? Your brochure needs to sell the experience including information about each location landed at and the overnight stops. Criterion A: Knowledge [Main focus is the Route Card]
