of suchsufficiency in lands, goods, or chattels as the worst be
worth10000 lib. sterling or else 500 lib sterling per annum; and
allsuch Gentlemen to be moved to disburse SOO lib sterlin eachman
in moneys or victuals for maintenance of the Gold minesin Scotland;
for which Disbursment each man to have thehonour of knighthood
bestowed. upon him, and so for ever tobe called The Knight of the

Governour or Guider of all such Workmen and to directthe whole
Works whatsoever during his life, if it endured solong. And that
Workmen might weekly be payed from MrBulmer; and that Houses &I
Mills might be foreseen to bebuilt at the best hand; and to provide
for all necessaries asVictuals, Tools, Instruments and Implements
whatsoever byMr Bulmer; and that Clowses, Damms and Watercourses
bemade fitting to the furnishing of the said Gold Mines
&Iwashing of Gold &Ie. And that all sorts of
WaterMills,Stamping Mills and Plash mills that are requisite, be
madeready, as is thought good to be done by Mr Bulmer or
hisAgents.Lastly to erect a church or chappel for all the
Workmen,where they may make their Prayers to God (or their
soulshealth. And then the works of their hands will be blessedand
come to a good end, to Gods glory, the Kings profit anda benefit to
the Commonweal, as is in other countreys andnations.Mr Bulmer took
his oath diverse times in my hearing, allthis to be true, and that
it was intended by the King. Andall these sayings he told amongst
his frequented friends, wholiked so well of it , that they said It
is too good news not tobe true. But the next time that Mr Bulmer

KING MALCOME his MONUMENT in ANGUS.The Lord Cars showed me that
there is in Angus &De High 101.Stone set up on end, in the
parish of Glarns, which they taketo be a monument for K. Malcorne
who was murdered near to
that place.There is another stone thought to be the monument
ofSanct Alured.

The Water of Killing takes its beginning or source atCarnwath
moor and falls in the said Water of Amond abovethe Palace of Calder
at Breich.
The Water of Wyndhorn takes its beginning or source alittle
above Harwood, and descending northward by the spaceof 8 or 4.
miles is joyned to Southwood Water a little beneaththe foot of the
wood of Calder and a little from thence, bothare joyned to the
water of Amond.Houses upon this Water, beginning at the head and
descend-ing northward are Harwood, Hermischiels,
Brothertoun.Southwood Water takes its beginning at Garronsike
wherethe 8 Shires of Lothian Clidsdale & Tweeddale meet,
anddescending northward by the space of 8 miles, is joyned withthe
water of Wyndhorn at the south Bridge of Calder a litlebeneath the
Wood thereof.Houses upon the Southwood Water, beginning at the
headand descending northward are Corsewoodbum, LinhouseSelmes &
Calder hall. Thel'e is upon the saids Watersjoined, one stone
bridge a little beneath the Wood of Calder.Gogar Bum takes its
beginning a little above Kirk Newtounand descending northward by
the space of 5 or 6 miles isjoyned to the Water of Amond a little
be east the EasterBrigs.
Houses upon the westside of the said Burn beginning at 116.the
head & descending northward are Kirk Newton, Humbie,Haltoun,
Aldistoun, Ovir Gogar with the Place thereof. Alsoupon the east
side of the said Bum beginning at the head anddescending northward
are the town of Dalmahoy standingupon a ragged Rock commonly called
Dalmahoy Craigs thePlace ofDalmahoy, Waristoun, The town of
Hermistoun withthe Place thereof, Redhous.TPere is betwixt the said
Burn and the Southwood WaterMortoun Corstoun, and Ormistoun, and
betwixt the saidBurn and the Water of Amond, Bonitoun, Ratho,
Ratho-Byres, Nortoun, and Inglistoun.The Water of Leith takes its
beginning at the Caimhill,
