Eco-friendly, versatile architectureThere are so many possibilities available with this unique modular system that you can create just about anything. Our glass domes are freestanding buildings with no internal structures, leaving you free to design your own space. Choose single, double or triple glazing – and of course, the size of dome you want.

What makes them unique?The multifaceted spheroid dome shape means at least two panes of glass sit at right angles to the sun; the most efficient way to fully capture the sun’s rays. In

addition, the lack of supporting pillars means the dome offers large, open plan areas with impressive height.

Quality materials, built to lastWe use the best quality materials which produce extremely robust structures. Our aluminium frames have a structural lifespan of over 100 years, require minimal maintenance and have been engineered to withstand extremely harsh conditions.

Our skylights add a touch of class to rooftop design, bringing in natural light and spectacular views of the night sky.

What makes them unique?A welcome alternative in achieving that wow factor, why have a traditional roof with small skylights, when the whole area can let in the light? Feel the full benefit of natural light flooding a room, while the excellent acoustic and thermal qualities of a SOLARDOME® PRO skylight help to create a comfortable and calm space.

Efficient constructionA SOLARDOME® geodesic skylight has a slim but strong frame, is quick to assemble, and will provide protection from the elements whatever the weather.

Ventilation is provided with optional mechanical opening window vents. We also offer low profile skylights from 6m (19.7ft) diameter.

Cladding/glazing method

The SOLARDOME® PRO system is precision designed and engineered to give excellent performance, quality and longevity.

We always use the best quality non-corrosive materials which produce extremely robust structures. Our aluminium frames have a structural lifespan of over 100 years, require no regular maintenance and have been engineered to withstand the most extreme wind and snow loadings.

• Dome height: approximately half the diameter of the dome as standard (however this can be tailored to meet your individual specifications)

System specifications

1. FrameThe strut and link arm sections are purpose designed mill-finished aluminium (T6082-T6). The picture shows a strut (to scale) from our glasshouse range compared with the larger SOLARDOME® PRO system struts.

2. Nodal sectionOur unique patent-pending Geo-Lok aluminium nodal clamping mechanism makes it quick and cost-effective to design and construct domes scalable up to 25m (82ft) in diameter.

3. VentilationThe lower level windows are opened by hand; the roof windows are motor controlled and can incorporate wind and rain sensors as optional extras.

4. Powder coating and anodisingAll exterior metal components are powder coated white or grey as standard. For a customised finish, it is possible to powder coat in a colour of your choosing, and to colour the interior metalwork too. Alternatively, the frame can be anodised which increases resistance and wear.

5. Cladding optionsChoose single, double or triple glazing, depending on the specification you need. Triple glazing can achieve a U-value as low as 0.6W/m². Our bespoke design service can offer external cladding in a wide variety of materials including glass, wood composite, metal, metal composite and pneumatic panels.

6. Doors and entrancesThe doors are double glazed with toughened glass with either PVC or metal frames. You choose their design, from single to double or even large arched apertures.

7. Insulated panelsWe can offer a fully insulated dome, or a mixture of glass and insulation. Our standard insulated panels for double glazing achieves a U-value of 1.1W/m², while insulated panels to suit triple glazing can achieve 0.7W/m². We’ll design the solution that suits your needs and your build’s regulations.

8. Additional featuresChimney flue panels, ventilation panels, merging domes, linking domes and solar panels.

9. SealingThe cladding panels are held in place using a mixture of dry and wet structural seals (see drawing on page 11).

10. Flashing platesIf your dome’s base is designed to our specifications we can provide integrated flashing plates.
