As the first capital of Taiwan, the city was the center of politics and economy for about 300 years. From this history, an ancient atmosphere has emerged with the most abundant collection of historical buildings & national treasures in all of Taiwan.

Chihkan Tower

Chihkan Tower is a reminder of Tainan's colonial era and period of Dutch occupation dating back to the 1600s.

An important point of trade during 18th and 19th centuries, Lukang, or “Deer Port” in Mandarin, is named for its trade of deerskins during the Dutch colonial period. The city remained central Taiwan’s most populous city until the early 20th century. Lukang was named one of the Top 10 Small Tourist Towns by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan for its rich heritage, great food and friendly environment.

Sun Moon Lake

Hidden in the mountains, Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan's largest fresh water lake and a popular honeymoon destination. The east side of the lake resembles the sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the lake's name: Sun Moon Lake. The surrounding area has trails for walking, hiking and biking.

National Palace Museum Considered one of the four great international museums of human culture, the National Palace Museum houses the largest collection of Chinese artifacts and relics. The museum holds 8,000 years worth of artifacts. The depth of the collection is so vast that displays are rotated once every three months.
