SOUND

The sound throughout both romance and comedy can be very similar already but in the sub genre, Rom Com music is usually pop songs that fit are played to help tell the audience how they should feel at the minute. For instance in breaking up scenes a slower love song will usually be played. For when the couple are happy and are showing doing ‘Romantic’ things together it will be a more upbeat song.

Rom Com are well known for making it obvious how you should be feeling at certain points, to define which are the funny parts and which are supposed to be romantic.

COSTUME

For this genre, the genders stick visually to stereotypes. They’re costume will often be generic to that gender. For instance, the women wearing colours like white and pink, the male in denim and greys.

This makes it easier to concentrate on the personality of the characters which often don’t match their physical appearance.

FONT/IMAGES

The kind of images used for film covers and film posters are very similar throughout this genre. The norm image is of couple in the storyline stood next to each other and facing the camera. The actual view point of the character’s vary between a direct mode of address and looking at each other.

The font is also similar. They all seem to use a bold generic font through their trailer’s, poster’s and magazine appearances. However the colour and positioning vary greatly depending on the desired look.
