Quick Reference GuideMaking a Selection

HCDRev. 11/13

Quick Genesys Selection Create a Complete Genesys Selection (in preparation for pricing and quotation)In order to create a Genesys selection that can be imported into QuotePro, it must have (3) characteristics defined: a ‘System Name’, a ‘Project Name’, and a ‘Locked’ selection status.

The System Name acts just like an equipment tag ID.  Genesys provides a default name‐date‐time stamp System Name but this can either be renamed right away in the New System screen (shown to the left) or later in the Manage Systems screen.  (click the ‘x’ in the yellow Project Name icon to remove the Project Name assignment)

> System Name

> Project Name The Project Name acts just like project folder.  Multiple Genesys selections can be assigned to a single Project Name.  The Project Name is what QuotePro will use to organize your finalized Genesys selections as you prepare to price and issue a quotation.  Unassigned and not‐locked selections are stored in Genesys as working files.  But when you want to formalize your selection(s) with a quotation, you can ‘Lock’ your saved selection and assign a Project Name in the Manage Systems screen.

There are (2) ways to assign a Project Name to a Genesys selection.  To create a new Project Name, type the name in the lower field, left of the ‘Create New Project Name’ button, click the Create button, then click OK.  To use an existing Project Name, click on the name under Available Names, click on the  to add it to the Assigned list, then click OK.  Click on the  to remove the assignment.

> Lock Revision (found in the Main Design Screen)

When you are completely satisfied with your Genesys selection and want to proceed to pricing and quotation with QuotePro, click the ‘Lock Revision’ button.  Locking your selection ensures no design changes or updates can be made to it.  In the Manage Systems screen, you can create a new revision of your selection (which unlocks it, gives it a higher –x revision number, and maintains  the ‘G‐No’ Genesys file name).  Or, you can make an exact copy of your selection (which unlocks it and assigns a new unique ‘G‐No’ Genesys file name).

Quick Reference GuideWizard Screen

HCDRev. 11/13

Selecting Outdoor will automatically insert weather hoods on all system outside air inlets (reactivation and process).  The user can change the inlet connections to a bolt pattern or louver in the Main Design Screen.

Selecting Yes will update the selected System Arrangement to include a blow‐through process fan and removes the DH bypass option from the design.  Suggested use of this option is when a ‘drier‐is‐better’ design is desired and the required process outlet humidity  is < 5 gr/lb (i.e. when the HCD is serving a process and not a room).

Selecting a standard System Arrangement sets the initial component placement order to be optimized by Genesys.  Relevant design input questions on the Wizard screen are a result of your selection.  Note: the system components can be added, moved, or deleted in Main Design Screen after the initial optimization is completed.

‐ Blended: this selection is active when there is a mixing box section in the system.  Return air inlet condition fields are displayed for user inputs.  Outside air conditions are set via the Select Location… button.‐ 100% outside air: the process inlet outside air conditions are set by the user via the Select Location… button only. ‐ 100% return air: the process inlet conditions are set by the user in the Return Air input fields.  Note: these user entered Return Air conditions can be a pre‐blended condition from an AHU or another source.

This selection defines the main electrical power supply to the system.  Note: Genesys will de‐rate all fan and DH drive motors for 50Hz operation when 380/3/50 is selected.

This selection defines the reactivation heater type to be used for the initial desiccant wheel optimization and can be changed to different heater type in the Main Design Screen.  Note: the default gas type for the (2) gas heater options is Natural Gas –the user can change to Propane in the Dehumidifier’s design screen.

This selection defines the coil type for all cooling coils in the system for the initial optimization.  Note: the user can change the coil type in the Main Design Screen and Genesys allows different cooling types within the same system.

This selection defines the access side vs. the piping side of the system.  Left to Right has ‘left hand’ coil connections when looking in direction of process airflow.  Right to Left has ‘right hand’ coil connections.  The system access side is opposite of the coil connection side.

This selection defines the humidity control bypass section type to be used for the initial system design and can be changed to a different bypass type in the Main Design Screen.‐Modulated: fully modulated face and bypass design, designed for active actuator type control of both dampers‐ Fixed: fixed internal bypass design with a manually set bypass damper‐ None: No bypass around the dehumidifier – all of the process air will flow through the desiccant wheel
