  • Genesis 2 8 And the L ORD God planted a garden east- ward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed. The garden is in the land of Eden, which is east of the Sinai desert. Eastward may include Syria, which is northeast of Israel. Garden possibly planted on 3 rd day.

  • II Kings 13 17 And he said, Open the window east- ward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the L ORD S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in -phk, till thou have consumed them.

  • Genesis 2 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. Eden is high in elevation because the river that waters it forms four more. Skip the first two rivers for right now.

  • Hiddekel is the Hebrew name. LXX modernized Phrat as Euphrates. LXX scribes familiar with these two. Genesis 2 14 And the name of the third river is Hd- d-kl: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Eu- phrates. LXX scribes translated it as Tigris.

  • Genesis 2 11 The name of the first is P-sn: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Hv- -lh 13 And the name of the second river is G- hn: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. Pison, Havilah, Gihon are Hebrew. LXX translates Ethiopia from Cush. Pison in Havilah; Gihon in Ethiopia.

  • Genesis 10 6 And the sons of Ham; Cush [Ethiopia], and Mizraim [Egypt], and Phut, and Canaan. 7 And the sons of Cush; Havilah LXX scribes dont know what Gihon and Pison are, so neither do we. Ethiopia is a Greek word meaning burnt face.

  • Jeremiah 13 23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. Sin is dangerous since it can make you think you were born that way. Cushites were a dark-skinned people setting from Babylon to Africa. This includes the Sinai peninsula since Moses married an Ethiopian.

  • Numbers 12 1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. Moses met Zipporah in Midian after he fled Egypt. Exodus 2 21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

Gihon and Pison probably flowed from Syria to Africa.

Another Havilah is a Semite. But he was born after the division. Pison could have flowed to Persia.

  • Genesis 13 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the L ORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the L ORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. The Dead Sea was a plain. The Dead Sea is earths lowest point. Jordan may have flowed to Red Sea.

  • Genesis 2 15 And the L ORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Garden is called the garden of Eden. (den) = pleasure Genesis 18 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

  • Genesis 2 9 And out of the ground made the L ORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It was a pleasure to see the trees and eat the fruit. (gan) (paradeisos) Tree of life is centrally located. LXX scribes use the word paradise:

  • John 18 1 When Jesus had spoken these words, He went forth with His disciples over the brook C-drn, where was a garden, into the which He entered, and His disciples. The usual Greek word for garden is (kepos). John 19 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

  • Revelation 2 7 To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Paradise refers to a special garden, used only 3 times in the N.T. The tree of life is still in the midst of the garden, but not on earth.

  • Revelation 21 1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Just as a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, so too does a river flow from Gods throne. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

  • Genesis 3 22 And the L ORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of Us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 therefore the L ORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. The tree of life is for healing, which ensures eternal life.

  • II Corinthians 12 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. Paradise refers to: 1. New Jerusalem in the new earth Paul is not too familiar with this man and his experience, but appeals to God to verify such an event.

  • II Corinthians 12 Paradise refers to: 1. New Jerusalem in the new earth Third heaven refers to paradise. 3 And I knew such a man 4 how that he was caught up into paradise,, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Hebrew word for heaven is dual. Paradise is an unspeakable place.

  • II Corinthians 12 Paradise refers to: 1. New Jerusalem in the new earth Paul felt such a man was worthy of honor for being shown paradise. 5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

Acts 2 31 He seeing this before spake of the resur- rection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither His flesh did see corruption.

  • Paradise refers to: 1. New Jerusalem in the new earth 2. Third heaven above the earth (hades) hell When Jesus died, His soul went to Hades, which is under the earth. Philippians 2 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

  • Three regions of paradise: 1.Heaven (God and angels) 2.Hades (redeemed man) 3.Earth (resurrected man) Romans 10 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
