Introduction

It is the most clean environmental friendly and of less running cost mode of power generation.

The currently known uranium reserves in the country can support a PHWR programme of 10,000MW for a design life of 30 years.

R.A.P.P. have four units of 220 MWe each and two units of 235 MWe newly constructed.

AdvantagesLess amount of fuel required.

Less space required compared to other plant.

It is very economical for producing bulk electric power in large capacity.

DisadvantagesThe fuel used is expensive and is difficult to

recover.

Capital cost is very high.

Produces radioactivity in high amount.

ConclusionIt proved an opportunity for encounter with

such a large components like 220MW generators, turbines, transformers and switchyards etc.

It also provides an opportunity to learn technology used at proper place and time can save a lot of labor
