Accessing and Using Online MLA
Resources
GSW courses use MLA style for citation of sources. There are a few resources that you can access online for information on how to cite to sources properly in MLA format.
1 Open the ebook according the instructions at Accessing and Using Your Electronic Handbook: The Brief Wadsworth Handbook (Kirszner & Mandell) in this manual.
4 Click on “21 MLA Documentation Style” to open the electronic book to the pages that you need for details on how to cite to different kinds of sources.
2 Go to page 95 of the handbook to find
a sample paper that illustrates proper MLA formatting for the types of papers that you will write in GSW.
5 The library also has a page in your GSW LibGuide for 1100/1110 that provides information on how to cite to sources properly in MLA style. See instructions on page x of this Manual for instructions on how to access it or you can go to http://www.libguides.bgsu.edu/MLA.
3 Scroll through the Table of Contents in the left hand screen until you reach PART 5.
6 Most internet sites that offer to create your citations for you do not use http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ proper MLA format, so do not use them. One internet site that does offer good advice on MLA and that you can use for reference in GSW is the Purdue Online Writing Lab: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/.
