General InformationGLC 2014: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Ethics, Economics and Entrepreneurship in concert with the Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development’s Interdisciplinary Research Symposium

In the 21st century, innovators speak the language of entrepreneurship and economics but for success and survival it is critical to add ethics to that mix. Ethics, Economics, and Entrepreneurship are three areas generally not addressed together, yet there is a connection among them. For organizational success the interrelation of the three is an absolute must. Social and Business Entrepreneurs must be aware of the impact of a variety of environmental factors. Financial and economic conditions of the local market, industry, country and the world must be monitored and analyzed as these forces will have an effect on future outcomes. Attention must be given to ethical issues along with entrepreneurial and economic considerations before making any decisions.

As the world deals with entrepreneurial, financial, economic, environmental, medical, political, and ethical challenges people struggle for survival, search for sustainable solutions and hope for growth and development. Solutions lie in cooperation across national borders, disciplinary boundaries, and cultural scope. We need an engaged interdisciplinary discussion for positive change.

Global Landscapes Conference 2014: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Ethics, Economics and Entrepreneurship, will assemble scholars, educators, students, and community members who are interested in examining global and local issues related to ethics, economics and entrepreneurship from different angles and recognize the need for cooperation among different constituents to find sustainable solutions to these problems. A complex and dynamic social, cultural, political, economic, financial and scientific environment requires an interdisciplinary examination of problems and solutions.

The King’s Global Landscapes Conference is supported by the McGowan School of Business, the McGowan Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility and NEPA Alliance (Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance). This year the Global Landscapes Conference is held in conjunction with The Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development research symposium. The Institute’s Interdisciplinary Research Symposium is in its 7th year.

The undergraduate student research presentations are sponsored by the International Business Honor Society, Epsilon Chi Omicron, King’s College Chapter and the Alpha-Mu Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society in Economics.
