Andrew Parke (with son Brad and Santa at the 2003 Jim’s Antennas Christmas BBQ) is an experienced antenna technician as well as the Regional Franchisor and National Divisional Franchisor.

Andrew Parke has an extensive background in the antenna industry,

having owned and operated his own antenna business since 1993. His experience includes not only antennas, but a range of other related security, telecommunications, pay TV and home entertainment systems. During this time, Andrew also held the role of national training adviser, assisting new technicians in essential areas such as technical training, customer communications and sales skills.

During late 1999, Andrew was approached by the

Jim’s Group, who proposed combining his exceptional industry knowledge with the reliability and first class customer service already expected of Jim’s Franchisees. As with Jim Penman when he founded Jim’s Mowing in 1989, Andrew saw franchising as a way of building a great business while still ensuring that the highest quality standards were met on each and every job. He quickly saw the potential that efficient and reliable antenna technicians would bring to the industry.

Andrew now operates the Antenna

division nationally for both Australia and New Zealand, overseeing aspects including the overall development of the division, branding, national marketing, group buying, training, procedures, plus day to day support of almost 100 Franchisees and six Regions throughout Australia. He also runs Franchises in both Sydney and Melbourne, with around 50 operators under his direct supervision.

Jim’s Antennas aims to find and keep the best people - and

to build the biggest, most successful antenna and related services group in the country.

Essentially, franchising with Jim’s Antennas provides a unique

opportunity for you to establish or build your own business, whilst enjoying the additional support of an experienced team and established systems.

Franchisee Profiles Nick Majstorovic

Prior to Jim’s, Nick had built a solid reputation in the antenna

industry, starting in 1993. Nick was one of the first technicians in Australia to install Pay TV, and at one stage built his own team of installers to eight. Despite Nick’s previous success and high level of experience, he still saw the benefits of owning a Jim’s Antennas franchise.

Nick says that the business has changed substantially

since he began, most notably by the volume of work. In the beginning, Nick was the only Franchisee, and traveled all over the Western suburbs for work. Today he receives more work than ever in a very small area around his home. Nick says, if you “ask for work you will get work” – in other words, work where you want, when you want it.

Nick comments that “people trust Jim’s”, and that the name has an excellent reputation. When

asked about the best part of Jim’s Antennas, Nick will not hesitate to tell you that it is the ability of Franchisees “to find their own work.” (Jim’s Antennas doesn’t get anything out of referral work). Nick notes that many other franchise companies, both within and outside the industry, “take a cut out of everything you do” and are “forever taking money out of your pocket.”

Jarrod Blamires The day we spoke with Jarrod, he was taking time off with his son Thomas – strolling along the

beach towards the aquatic centre, in fact!

Prior to Jim’s, Jarrod ran his own electrical business in

Melbourne. He got into Jim’s looking for a change, with the same lifestyle benefits of his own set up –especially the freedom to set your own schedule. In his words, “nothing changed with Jim’s, which is what I wanted.”

Compared to his old business, Jarrod finds the work he does

extremely interesting. He also enjoys the range of skills tested in the day to day process of running a Franchise, including sales skills, expertise to do the actual job properly and the referral process. Basically, Jarrod says “I love it.”

Jarrod is so happy with Jim’s Antennas that he is looking

to go as far as the system will allow him to – which is pretty far. This includes looking into putting extra technicians on under his Franchise, and seriously considering a Franchisor role interstate.

Advantages

Are you looking for a change of lifestyle? Whether you are an

experienced technician or are looking for a completely new direction, Jim’s Antennas offers the following benefits:

Join over 2,100 Franchisees

The Jim’s Group is established in a great number of divisions across Australia, New

Zealand and Canada, with plans to expand even further.

Each division clearly identified by individual logos, signage and colour schemes,

and advertising is division specific. The overall “Jim’s” trademark is reinforced in every instance, and public brand recognition stands at a very high level.

The strength of the Jim’s Group often lends buying power to items such as stock,

equipment, mobile phones and insurance rates, across the entire range of Franchisees.

Plentiful Work

A vast network of Franchise owners from all divisions means peer support, group purchasing and reinforcement of the “Jim’s” name.

Jim’s Antennas regularly enjoys

periods of excess work, meaning that new Franchisees are often needed urgently to service customers currently being turned away.

Our large level of work is partly

due to the recognition and trust already established for the Jim’s name and logo, which adds maximum effect to our advertising.

Ask your Franchisor for details

of unserviceable jobs near you.

Work Where You Choose

The FMS (Franchise Management System) computer

program has been specially developed by the Jim’s IT development team, and allows Franchisees flexibility and control over their business.

Territory rights are non-

exclusive, meaning that if a Franchisee is not requesting work within their territory on a particular day, it will be allocated to an operator who wants the work. You are also able to service personal referrals in any area you wish – and these do not attract any fees.

Work When You Choose

Franchisees decide exactly which suburbs they work in, and how far

to travel on any given day.

While all Franchisees are expected to dedicate

themselves full time to the success of their business, you will be responsible for your own scheduling, working hours and holiday time - putting you in control of your lifestyle.

Jim’s make it easy!! Just contact the local administration centre with the level

of work you want to receive, depending on your diary and your lifestyle.

We will only send you work when you want it

Incentive Based Fees

Franchise Fees consist of a monthly base fee plus a Lead Fee. The Lead Fee is

charged once only on each new lead requested by, and sent to, you.

Jim’s Franchisees pay for the leads they take, and not a percentage of turnover.

Work Availability Guarantee

Should you request and not receive work to this value, your

Regional Franchisor will make up the difference in exchange for you providing free promotional services designed to build your business. Please refer to the Franchise Agreement or ask us for further information.

This is a ‘user pays’ system, with

those taking more leads paying higher fees. This encourages all operators to contact clients as soon as the lead is received, and to log off for work when busy, leading to better customer service.

No Fees are charged for your personal referrals.

Jim’s do not charge a percentage

of your income (with the exception of commercial clients), and also do not charge a lead fee on personal referrals.

All Jim’s Antennas Franchises come with a Work Availability

Guarantee of at least $1,000.00 per week, including GST, nett of stock.

The Work Guarantee obligates Franchisors to make sure you get plenty of work

The Best Equipment & Stock Jim’s Antennas give you the opportunity to purchase

high quality stock, stationery and uniforms at reasonable prices, by utilizing bulk purchasing.

Suppliers will often offer additional

support such as customised brochures and ordering processes. This saves Franchisees time and money, and leaves you with time to focus on building your business.

Unlimited & Unrestricted Potential

Jim’s Antennas often affiliate with top quality stock suppliers, audio visual retailers and service providers to give our Franchisees an advantage

Additional vans and employees do not

attract any further Franchise Fee, except extra Lead Fees for the larger volume of work you will receive.

Employees are expected to meet the

high Jim’s Antennas training and presentation standards.

No additional fees are payable on extra vans, employees or renewing the term of your

franchise agreement

Training & Motivation

An average of four weeks practical training is provided

before you start working, plus subsequent on site support from a senior technician if you need it. A training rebate is paid back to you during the initial training. Technical training is designed to cover the major aspects of the business, including installation, tuning, quoting, stock management, diary management, van set up, and grounding in customer relations and sales skills.

Franchisees also attend three days of business training at the

Jim’s Group National Office, covering topics such as bookkeeping, the Jim’s ethos and administration.

Regular seminars are held by your Regional

Franchisor, to help you lift your income. Topics include ways to lift performance, increase sales and conversion rate, reduce down time and supplementary technical skills such as video intercoms, telephone cabling work and home theatre specialties.

Ongoing training & constant technical support are designed to help you increase your income and develop your business.

A minimum of 8 meeting and/or training seminars are held each year.

Income & Advancement Opportunities

Generally, the high standards of Jim’s Antennas

Franchisees mean that prices can reflect the quality and service provided.

The system is designed to help you concentrate your

business closer to home as it develops, cutting down on travel expenses. You may also choose to employ more technicians and establish a larger business, all within your existing Jim’s Antennas Franchise.

Further opportunities exist for exceptional Franchisees

who demonstrate strong business and communication skills, including a role in training Franchisees, Regional Franchise opportunities and more.

Successful Jim’s Antennas Franchisees

are encouraged to reach high

Supportive Franchisee Network

Jim’s Antennas offers you ongoing support in both

structured and informal formats, over and above the franchise structure and peer support inherent in the system. Regular business reviews assist in tracking the progress

of your franchise, identifying problems and identifying ways to develop further. Expect also to speak informally to your Regional Franchisor often, as well as regular Franchisee meetings, social events and newsletters. An exclusive Jim’s Group Franchisee web site offers you the chance to communicate with other Franchisees in all divisions, across other states and overseas. Uniquely, Jim’s Antennas also

employ several Senior Technicians in addition to Andrew’s extensive technical knowledge. They may be contacted at any time for help with all types of equipment, or for trouble shooting and general support - even to arrange help on a big job or practical training on a new service or product.

Peer support is on hand from Franchisees locally and all over the world, in over 25

service divisions

Social events such as Christmas parties play a big part in the lives of Franchisees

and their families

Disadvantages

While most Jim’s Franchisees do very well, it is an

unfortunate fact that it doesn’t suit everyone. Jim’s Antennas has an ongoing commitment to quality workmanship and fast, reliable service. If you fall below an acceptable standard, you will be required to undergo further training and eventually, if necessary, be asked to sell your business.

Franchisees falling below the Jim’s Antennas high standards in work quality or customer service are offered further

one on one training

Incentive Based Fees

Franchise fees are based on leads sent to the

Franchisee, to encourage exceptional customer service, and promote a good relationship between Franchisees and the Regional Franchisor.

Because of this, below average operators may

find that they are asking for more work to compensate for a low conversion rate - and therefore paying more than the desired percentage of their turnover in franchise fees. Of course, the reverse is true for Franchisees converting higher than average, or with a large number of referrals.

Incentive based fees promote top customer service and reward good

conversion rates

Complaints Procedures

A strict complaints procedure is in place, which prevents

Franchisees who are letting customers down receiving any new work until they have undergone further training. This is designed to protect the interests of all Franchisees, and the established reputation of the Jim’s Group for quality service.

Physical Limitations

Keep in mind that an aptitude for working at heights

and for dealing with people are essential.

Although speed and fitness will generally increase

over time, it is important that you judge your own capacity for work based on what you see in field.

Almost anyone can be a top antenna technician, with the right support & training

It is important for all Jim’s Franchisees to have a genuine desire to identify & meet

their customer’s needs

A Positive Attitude

In our business, the majority of your success depends upon attitude,

enthusiasm, commitment to quality and dedication. It is also necessary to enjoy dealing with customers and the work, and to take pride in offering only the best possible service.

Given your good attitude, and our level of training and support, a good

technician with business and communication skills should have no reason not to succeed except poor health or other outside influences.

It’s your business - you will get back what

you put in to it.

Assessment

Provided that your interview is successful, you will be invited to

spend a few days on the road with a successful operator, or a senior technician. This is your assessment period, and provides an opportunity for you to have a look at the business in practice and see if you enjoy the work, and for us to evaluate whether you are suited to a franchise.

Like any Franchise system that takes customer

service seriously, Jim’s Antennas requires all prospective Franchisees to go through a rigorous screening process. If you have not already attended an initial interview, please

phone us at your convenience to arrange one.

This is an opportunity for you to ask

questions, so please feel welcome to bring a list. A careful examination of the Jim’s system, including looking at any competitors, is one sign of a good operator.

Other Jim’s Antennas Franchisees will be happy to tell you how the system is helping

them succeed

Having passed at this stage, you will be

invited to collect a copy of the Franchise Agreement and Franchisee Disclosure Document.

Should you have any questions, or to

proceed with your inquiry, please contact Andrew Parke using the details at the front of this information brochure, to arrange an initial interview.

For all interstate franchisees you will be flown to Melbourne for 3 nights accommodation while you attend the training course which runs over 2 days. All meals including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner will also be provided during your training.

Estimated Income

Please be aware that these amounts are approximate averages only, and

that there is no guarantee that you personally will reach this level. Inexperienced Franchisees will tend to earn less than the long term ones, and earnings may even vary seasonally. Income level is dependent on the time and effort you wish to put into the business, and on the lifestyle you wish to achieve.

Example Franchise income is set out below, based on some

of the more common antenna jobs (prices including GST). You should speak to other Franchisees, and your Regional Franchisor, about the average number of jobs completed in a day – and how other services such as home theatre, telephone points and digital TV may boost income even further.

For a more accurate example of the earnings potential of Jim’s

Antennas Franchisees, we suggest that you speak to both experienced and new Franchisees, and observe the daily income of others during your training and assessment days.

Many Franchisees offer other audio visual services which provide a challenge, some

variety, and often high profit margins

A large percentage of jobs already have existing cable, wall

plates or even fascia masts. In

this case, the Franchisee saves extra

money on stock, thus allowing an

even greater profit.

Most households request multiple outlets for family rooms, bedrooms, etc.

Additional mounting brackets are required on an estimated 95% of new homes. Some houses with multiple outlets, or in bad reception areas, also require amplifiers installed.

Jim’s Antennas technicians do an average of four jobs per day.
