    ANSWERS

1 - 3; It should be 'abide by'.

Exp: Abide by is a phrasal verb which means to accept and act according to a law,

    agreement etc.,

    2 - 3; Replace 'are' with 'is'.

Exp: The subject 'Chief Minister' is singular, therefore the auxiliary verb should also

    be singular.

    3 - 1; Replace 'a' with 'the'.

Exp: The article 'the' is used before physical place (position) like 'top', 'bottom' etc.,

    4 - 3; Replace 'his' with 'him'.

Exp: Here, possessive case (his) should not used. Objective case (him) should be

    used.

    5 - 4; Replace 'changed' with 'change'.

Exp: The whole sentence is in Present Tense. Therefore we should use 'change'.

6 - 2; The correct phrase is 'to the letter' which means 'paying strict attention to every

    detail'.

    7-

2; The parallel structure of verb must be maintained. The parallel structure of

completed or adopted is 'appreciated' not 'appreciating'.

8 - 4; As 'ignorant' is an adjective it should be modified by, adverb 'thoroughly' not

    'thorough'.

9 - 4; As the process of giving speech is already complete, it should be written in

Past Perfect Tense. Hence 'where he had been' should be replaced with 'where

    he had'.

10 - 4; The part of the sentence printed in normal suggests a novel idea, therefore the

part in bold should embolden that idea and in place of 'risks must not be

taken', we should write 'some risks must be taken'.

    11 - 3; Replace 'convenience' with 'convince'.

    12 - 1; Replace 'found' with 'founded'.

    13-

    4; Replace 'above' with 'up'.

    14 - 5; All correct.

    15 - 2; It should be 'response'.

    16 - 4; Opp. 17 - 5 Same; 18 - 3 Same; 19 - 2 Same; 20 - 3 Opp.
