General description:

• His real name is Jean-Claude Camille François Van Varenberg. He is a Belgian actor, director and producer. He was born on the eighteen of October, nineteen sixty in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe a Brussels’s town. At ten years old he decided to practice martial arts intensively and won the title of “Mr. Belgium” in a bodybuilding competition. In nineteen eighty two he went to America to pursue a movie career and he managed to break into the movie-making world.

His begin in America• In nineteen eighty two, with three thousand dollars in his pocket and without

being able to speak any English, JCVD went to Los Angeles to become a movie actor. For many years he did odd jobs like pizza delivery or laying carpets, he was even a personal coach and limousine driver. The latter allowed him to meet lots of people. He met Chuck Norris and Lou Ferrigno and managed to get a few film roles like the small role in Monaco Forever or Karate Tiger le Tigre rouge. It was at that time that he changed his name from Van Varenberg to Van Damme. Then Van Damme worked for director John McTiernan for the 1987 film Predator. A few months later a meeting with the famous producer Menahem Golan launched his career. The latter asked JCVD to play in the movie “Bloodsport” which became an international success and later he played in “Black Eagle” which also had some success. After that he played in lot of big movies with success after success. In nineteen ninety eight he started taking drugs but he managed to stop. After shooting of “Knock Off” he was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder with suicidal tendencies.
