Hailing from the great state of Maine, Dave Rowe, is a traveling troubadour-a singer-songwriter and interpreter of traditional and modern song-whose 30-year career has had him on stages all over the eastern seaboard and throughout America’s heartland.
Armed with a guitar, a dream, a quick wit, a soaring tenor voice, and the heart of an entertainer, he has enthralled audiences everywhere he’s gone, bringing them from rauc
Dave’s latest dream had him literally circumnavigating the eastern continental US by boat on the Great Loop, singing songs along the way, and-until COVID-19-playing to new audiences in rather idyllic places. It was the musical tour of a lifetime.
A fourth-generation professional musician, Dave’s handmade, heartfelt music springs from deep roots borne out of the song traditions of Ireland and the British Isles, cultivated in the roots music of North America, and filtered through the musical sensibility of a classically-trained musician. His original songs come from the heart of a poet and the soul of a maestro: from songs of the sea to his-torical sketches, from songs of abiding love to social commentary.
Dave’s 2019 floating musical journey took him through the navigable waters of 24 U.S. states and one Canadian province. His trusty guitar; his yacht, Stinkpot; and his first mate, Stacey all rose from sea level to 900 feet above sea level and back down, utilizing countless locks on the way. The entire journey provided Dave with a full album of new music that he is finishing off in the recording stu-dio for fall 2020 release all while cruising and enjoying the waters of his home state of Maine.

Keystone Willy and
ConAir
By Wil LaPointe, owner
Collinsville, Oklahoma
I was in the cellular
communications business
when I saw my first hot
air balloon in the Tulsa
area. I immediately real-
ized the potential to draw
a crowd, so I purchased a
roof-top type to advertise
my business. One day, a
salesman stopped by who
also was a balloon pilot.
Although I had never
been “up” in a balloon,
I purchased a red, white
and blue passenger bal-
loon, perfect to promote
my cell phone business.
The pilot took me for
my first ride and I was
immediately hooked on
the experience. I also
noticed how it attracted
a crowd; cars followed
us for miles. I trained to
become a licensed pilot
and even became quite
successful at competitive
racing, eventually being
ranked #5 in the entire
country.I bought a larger bal-
loon, one which could
carry myself and six to
eight passengers – the
largest hot air balloon in
Oklahoma. Since 2004,
I have been having the
time of my life introduc-
ing people to the joy of
hot air ballooning for all
types of occasions. Com-
panies often use the hot
air balloon experience as
a unique team building
exercise. At some events, such
as a grand opening, wed-
ding, family reunions or
employee picnic, the bal-
loon is tethered and at-
tendees take a 50-foot up-
and-down ride. Another
way companies use the
balloon to advertise is to
rent banner space adver-
tising their products all
around the country or just
in Oklahoma. Many of these com-
panies report that their
business was definitely
“looking up” with the
use of this attention-get-
ting marketing concept.
I have also had couples
exchange their wedding
vows in the balloon and
even helped grieving
families spread the ashes
of a loved one.A hot air balloon ride
usually lasts 40 minutes
to an hour, but we can
continue for longer if re-
quested. Everyone from
young to old enjoy the ad-
venture of floating quietly
like a bird over the land.
Not only is the scenery
breathtaking, but you al-
so can view wildlife on
the ground and in the air.
Often birds and butter-
flies will fly right along-
side us! Watch as one of
these balloons “chases”
the other. For more in-

Elvis
By BalloonFestival.com
Elvis was larger than life
and so is the 10-story-tall
special-shaped Elvis hot
air balloon that will swivel,
shake and soar at the Fes-
tival. Elvis stands 105-feet
tall (the real Elvis was
5-feet 11-3/4 inches) and
weighs 485 pounds. Com-
plete with long sideburns,
40-foot-wide sunglass-
es and a sparkling white
jump-suit, the Elvis bal-
loon doesn’t hail from Tu-
pelo or Las Vegas, but rath-
er from São Paulo, Brazil.
The massive balloon oc-
cupies 105,000 cubic feet of
space when fully inflated.
The Elvis balloon was
created as a tribute to the
entertainer by hot air bal-
loon pilot Luiz Paulo Assis
of AirFly hot air balloons.
The balloon was inspired by
Luiz’s love for the artist and
his music. Luiz was exposed
to the music by his father
when he was very young.
Even though they did not
speak English, the music
still touched them. The 1968
TV special re-launched
Elvis Presley’s singing ca-
reer. This 2018 version will
launch hundreds of thou-
sands of smiles. n
