A resolution adopted at the Congress Leg- islature Party meeting urged strong discipli- nary action against any party office-bearer or CLP member who does anything to weaken the government or the party. But the resolution stopped short of nam- ing Pilot, who is the deputy chief minister and also heads the state unit of the party. Before the meeting, senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala also adopted a con- ciliatory tone, saying Pilot and other MLAs could still attend the CLP meeting from which they had distanced themselves. Sources said Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi were in touch with Pilot, upset since he was denied the Rajasthan chief minister's post af- ter the December 2018 assembly elections. Willsay more about it after going through the whole verdict,”said Princess Gowri Lakshmibai of the erstwhile Travan-core royal family soon after the judgment.

KARNAL, JULY 13( ): Deputy promoter Shri Piyush Muni Ji Maharaj said that progress should be made with the mortal body. Never stop your efforts due to ladiness. Good habits lead the person to the goal of life path. Those who waste time wrongly stumble here and there. A person should progress forward and should not stop anywhere. Walking does not mean just stopping, walking or running around blindly. The wandering stereotypes cannot be called progressive. Upgrading the soul is the true progress of life. Sitting quietly does not help. Success is achieved as it is tried. Success in life is hidden only due to continuous work. Inaction is the death of man. One who does not work should be considered a living corpse whose life is wasted. While doing karma, intellect and heart, one should also take help from physical organs. There is no benefit in doing wasteful actions without purpose and aim. Actions done with prudence develop life all round.

In Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas there is a beautiful pas-sage about how to defeat a more powerful militaryenemy. Vibhishana, the younger brother of Ravan,

who is pious and ethical, has joined forces with ShriRam. He is aware of Ravan’s superior military mightand asks Shri Ram how he would defeat such a formi-dable enemy. “My lord, you have no chariot, nor anyprotection either for your body (in the shape of armour)or for your feet (in the shape of shoes). How, then, canyou expect to conquer this enemy?” “Listen, friend”,replied the all-merciful, “the chariot which leads one tovictory is quite another. Valour and fortitude are thewheels of that chariot, while truthfulness and good con-duct are its enduring banner and standard. Strength, dis-cretion, self-control and benevolence are its four hors-es, that are joined to the chariot with the cords of for-giveness, compassion and evenness of mind. Adorationof God is the expert driver; dispassion, the shield, andcontentment the sword. Charity is the axe; reason, thefierce lance, and the highest wisdom, the relentless bow.A pure and steady mind is like a quiver; while quietudeand the various forms of abstinence (yamas) and reli-gious observances (niyamas) are a sheaf of arrows.Homage to one’s preceptor is an impenetrable coat ofmail; there is no other equipment for victory as effica-cious as this”. I can almost hear our hard-nosed strate-gists exclaiming in indignation over how such a passageis relevant to the situation that we face with China to-day. To them I would say that the sole purpose of quot-ing this dialogue is to emphasise that in calculating therelative strengths of two adversaries in modern con-flicts, certain intangibles can make all the difference.Geopolitical experts focus on the realities of militaryhardware: who has more troops, tanks, armoured vehi-cles, aircraft, submarines, missiles, roads and airfields? The chroniclers of history take these into account, butalso look at other factors, such as human resilience, troop morale, democratic legitimacy, collective unity, strategic clarity, tactical agility and national resolve. The last three are particularly important in assessing ourstrength against China. China has played the bullyingneighbor now for decades, starting from 1962. In re-sponding to it we have lacked strategic clarity.Chanakyan politics should have made us understandlong ago that China’s ambitions to emerge as a worldpower, the proverbial middle kingdom surrounded bybarbarians, would compel it to see India as a challenge.

To take on China, Indianeeds strategic clarity

Literature & HealthPeople with high cholesterol should

eliminate carbs, not saturated fat

Following a study on hypercho-lesterolemia, researchers havesuggested that people with the

condition should eliminate carbohy-drates from their diet instead of fats.

Familial hypercholesterolemiais a genetic disorder that causespeople to have cholesterol levels 2-4 times higher than the average per-son. Organisations, including theAmerican Heart Association, havesuggested they avoid eating foodfrom animal sources, such as meat, eggs, and cheese, and to avoid co-conut oil.

An international team of ex-perts on heart disease and diet, in-cluding five cardiologists, revieweddietary guidelines for people withfamilial hypercholesterolemia. They say they couldn't find any jus-tification for health experts to rec-ommend a low saturated fat diet."For the past 80 years, people with

familial hypercholesterolemia havebeen told to lower their cholesterolwith a low saturated fat diet," saidlead author David Diamond, pro-fessor and heart disease researcherat the University of South Florida.

"Our study showed that a more'heart healthy' diet is one low insugar, not saturated fat," Diamondadded. Diamond and his co-authorssay following a low-carb diet ismost effective for people at in-creased risk of heart disease, suchas those who are overweight, hy-pertensive and diabetic. Their find-ings are consistent with another pa-per recently published in the "Jour-nal of the American College of Car-diology," which provided strong ev-idence that food that raises bloodsugar, such as bread, potatoes andsweets, should be minimized, ratherthan tropical oils and animal-basedfood.

India's favourite fairness cream Fair & Lovelyseems to be taking responsibility for the inherentracism and colourism that the product has per-

petuated for decades. Its parent company Hindu-stan Unilever an nounceda few weeks ago that theproduct line would be rebranded and the word Tat'dropped from the brand name, while the compa-ny'sadvertising would evolve to feature women of dif-ferent skin tones. But from whiter females to blue-eyed males, India's fair-skin obses-sion runs deep. Whenever we see amatrimonial advertisement, we findwords like "Need a tall, fair, educat-ed... bride". Neverever it is publi-cised that someone needs a bronzeorwheatish complexion girl. I still re-member when my daugh-ter wasborn "who is not so fair", the com-ments in the air were "god ne vi kalijammt: Colour-based discriminationis present onscreen as well as in reallife (in school, on matrimonial sites, etc.), but the message after the'Black lives Matter'campaign hasbeen strong - just being fair isn'tlovely now After HUL announced it would drop theword 'fair' from its best-seller beauty product J&Jalso announced that it is drop-ping offiaie from allfairness products and matrimonial siteShadi.comsaid that it is dropping the skin tone filter from itswebsite.

The ques-tion arises now that cosmetic namescan change but will the society change itscolours? The constant desire to be fair with vari-ous colours is still preva-lent in our society. Some

of the most important decisions of our life - whoto marry, who to hirewhat kind of children wewant are still colour-based. According to a re-search 84% of females knew and are well awareof the harmful effects of such fairness creams butcontinued using itEven at IVF centres the couplesusu-ally ask that donors should be white skinned.Actor Nan-dita Dasis the first not so fair femalewho started campaign as DARK IS BEAUTIFUL.

She says the biases go deep our lan-guage reflects it too-things like'uska rang saaf-hal' to describe fair-ness, as if dark skin is dirty. It istough to combat a mindset that hasbecome this entrenched in allspheres of society - arthisto-rymythology, pop culture".

With time, the soci-ety needs tochange, and the change needs tohappen soon. The role of mothers ispivotal here.A Kochi-based fashionstylist explained in an inter-viewthat she is dark-skinned, but hermother never let her feel any lessfor it. She fur-ther said "My moth-

er is fair, but she had always told me that I amprettier than her So, instead of thinking "I wishmy skin was fairer and lighter, say something like`My skin makes me different from others, sooth-ing like a black cloud in hot sunny day. The demand for mail-inballots is surging. Elec-tion workers need train-

ing. And polling booths mighthave to be outfitted with pro-tective shields during theCOVID-19 pandemic. As offi-cials prepare for the Novem-ber 3 election, one certainty isclear: It's coming with a bigprice tag.

Election officials don'thave nearly the resources tomake the preparations andchanges they need to make torun an election in a pandemic, said Wendy Weiser, head ofthe democracy program at theBrennan Center for Justice. We are seeing this all over theplace.

The pandemic has sentstate and local officials scram-bling to prepare for an elec-tion like few others, an ex-traordinary endeavor during apresidential contest, as viruscases continue to rise acrossmuch of the U.S.

COVID-related worriesare bringing demands forsteps to make sure electionsthat are just four months awayare safe. But long-promisedfederal aid to help cash-starved states cope is stalledon Capitol Hill.

The money would helppay for transforming the age-old voting process into a pan-demic-ready system. Centralto that is the costs for printingmail-in ballots and postage. There are also costs to ensurein-person voting is safe withpersonal protective equip-ment, or PPE, for poll work-

ers, who tend to be older andmore at risk of getting sickfrom the virus, and trainingfor new workers. Pricey ma-chines are needed to quicklycount the vote.

Complicating matters isPresident Donald Trump'saversion to mail-in balloting. With worrisome regularity, hederides the process as rigged, even though there's no evi-dence of fraud and his own re-election team is adapting tothe new reality of widespreadmail-in voting. As cases ofcoronavirus in this countryrise, it's vital that all voters beable to cast their ballots fromhome, to cast their ballots bymail, said Sen. AmyKlobuchar, D-Minn.

A huge COVID responsebill passed by the House in

May contains a whoppingUSD 3.6 billion to help stateswith their elections, but theSenate won't turn to the meas-ure until late July. Republi-cans fought a USD 400 mil-lion installment of election aidthis March before agreeing toit.

But key Senate Republi-cans seem likely to supportmore election funding, despiteTrump's opposition, and areeven offering to lower a re-quirement that states put upmatching" funds to qualify forthe federal cash.

I'm prepared not only tolook at more money for thestates to use as they see fit forelections this year, but also toeven consider whatever kindof matching requirement wehave, said Roy Blunt, R-Mo.,

chairman of the Senate panelwith responsibility for the is-sue.

We can continue to worktoward an election that pro-duces a result that people haveconfidence in and done in away that everybody that wantsto vote, gets to vote." The pan-demic erupted this spring inthe middle of state primaries, forcing many officials to delaytheir elections by days, weeksand even months. They had todeal with a wave of poll work-er cancellations, polling placechanges and an explosion ofabsentee ballots.

Voting rights groups areparticularly concerned withthe consolidations of pollingplaces that contributed to longlines in Milwaukee, Atlantaand Las Vegas. They fear a re-

peat in November. As negotiations on the

next COVID relief bill beginon Capitol Hill, the final fig-ure for elections is sure to endup much less than the USD3.6 billion envisioned by theHouse. That figure followedthe recommendations of theBrennan Center to prepare foran influx of absentee ballotswhile providing more earlyvoting options and protectingneighbourhood polling places.

Even before the pandem-ic, election offices typicallywork under tight budgets.Iowa Secretary of State PaulD. Pate, who serves as presi-dent of the National Associa-tion of Secretaries of State, said the group has been call-ing on the federal governmentto provide a steady source of

funds, particularly to help ad-dress ongoing costs of protect-ing the nation's election sys-tems from cyberthreats.

For Georgia's primary lastmonth, election officials spent8.1 million of the roughlyUSD 10.9 million the state hasreceived in federal funds. Themoney was used to send ab-sentee ballot applications to6.9 million active registeredvoters and print absentee bal-lots for county election of-fices. Some of it also was usedto purchase PPE and securedrop-off boxes for counties.

Meanwhile, the state elec-tions division has seen a USD90,000 reduction for the cur-rent budget year as Georgialike the rest of the nation dealswith a decline in revenues dueto the pandemic.

The state's remaining fed-eral funds will be used to helpcover the costs of developingan online system for voters torequest absentee ballots, a lessexpensive option than sendingballot applications to everyvoter, and exploring whetherinstalling plexiglass dividersaround voting machines couldallow more voters in a pollingplace at one time. In Col-orado, which is already a uni-versal vote-by-mail state, theDenver election office has hadto reduce its budget by 7.5%,which amounts to nearly USD980,000. Jocelyn Bucaro,Denver's elections director, said the federal funds sent ear-lier this year helped with pur-chasing PPE and other pan-demic-related supplies.

Any problem can be solved by mu-tual agreement and harmony. It be-comes imperative to have avisionary thought streamfor the advancement of so-ciety, nation and individual. If we assess the corona cri-sis in the country, thenevery section is affectedand distressed by the ill ef-fects of this epidemic. Butthere is also a large part ofthe total population of thecountry, which is unable to expressits suffering under the odd circum-stances of covid 19, that is the fu-ture children of the country, chil-dren are undoubtedly the future ofany nation.

People want the world of theirdreams and the capital of theirwhole life. This class has also been

greatly affected in the Corona peri-od, school children have been intheir homes since March 15 all overthe country and it is natural for any

parent to do so. Fromthe first phase of lockdown till now, all pri-vate schools have alsotried to provide onlineclasses at their own lev-el, with the aim of rais-ing concern for thesmooth running of chil-dren's education. Em-phasis was also placed

on online education during coronathrough various types of projects bythe government and special guide-lines were also given to all schools.

From this informal teaching Itis difficult to explain the real matterof how much the children have re-ceived or will be because it is notpossible for every child to establish

direct contact with the teacher anddiagnose their curiosity through anonline system but by the govern-ment.

All the schools have tried to fol-low the instructions issued and theteachers of government schoolshave also tried to make the onlineeducation available to the childrenbased on the available resourcesdue to the lock down. There areabout 25 crore children takingschool education in India andthrough 15.5 lakh schools, thesechildren are seeking their future.

In this struggle of the future, thelight of knowledge is being litthrough 70 per cent of governmentschools, 30 per cent of privateschools are engaged in improvingthe future of the country. In this ar-ticle, throwing light on all aspectsrelated to education can be a proofof the importance of the article.

The Song ofWandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,Because a fire was in my head,And cut and peeled a hazel wand,And hooked a berry to a thread; And when white moths were onthe wing,And moth-like stars wereflickering out,

I dropped the berry in a streamAnd caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floorI went to blow the fire a-flame,But something rustled on the floor,And someone called me by my name:It had become a glimmering girlWith apple blossom in her hairWho called me by my name and ranAnd faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wanderingThrough hollow lands and hilly lands,I will find out where she has gone,And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass,And pluck till time and times are done,The silver apples of the moon,The golden apples of the sun.

Lana said "Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass" is the title poem of the book and the first poem she wrote of many. "Some of them came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem. They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I'm proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic." Stuart Roberts, senior editor at Simon & Schuster, acquired World English, first serial, and audio rights from CAA. "Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass" will be published simultaneously with S&S UK, Canada, Australia, and India. "Lana Del Rey is an era-defining artist. She is a mythmaker and auteur - a visionary who is capable of articulating and setting the mood of a cultural moment. Her poetry is deeply intimate and affecting. This is one of Lana's most arresting projects yet," said Roberts. Lana's music has been noted by critics for its stylised cinematic quality, glamour, melancholia and its references to 1950s and 1960s Americana.
