FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK
GCE Chronicles, the newsletter team of the college was initiated in the year 2010. Its
first release was the Annual Edition for the Year 2010 which was released on 1st January, 2011.
Since then, with every release, the team has improved in the various aspects involved in the
making of a newsletter such as designing, editing and publishing of a newsletter. As the chief
editor of GCE Chronicles, I congratulate all the students in the team for doing a great job
throughout the year. GCE Chronicles will continue to bring out newsletters, upholding the rich
heritage of this 48-year old institution. I also take this opportunity to remember the previous
Principals and the present Principal for their support and encouragement to the newsletter
team. This edition covering Gecofest 14.0 is an illustration of the student team’s exemplary work.
The templates, the format of the reports, the clever use of pictures and the choice of colors in
the templates by Ajay Logesh and Anand Begith of Mechanical Engineering, the pithy write-ups
by the reporters and the entire team of the final year editors led by Sathammai deserve special
mention. Kudos, team. I am awed. This edition so truly represents the real vibrance of young
minds.

GECOFEST 14.0 A rt, Music and Dance have continued to be a chief way of
communication and expression, since the life of pre-historic man. To
breathe life to this tradition, the GCEians annually host Gecofest – the
cultural extravaganza. Gecofest 14.0, has hiked the standards even more
for this intra college fest through a plethora of events organized under 6
constituent clubs. The chief guests this year were Mr. Niranjan Bharathi,
a famous lyricist and a successor of „Maha Kavi‟ Bharathiyar, and Mr.
Nirojan, an established director. The gentlemen added bliss to the launch
of the book “Karuvathadi” – a compilation of poems written by Master.
Palanisamy, a student from the final year. This 2-day fest hosted a variety
of on-stage and off-stage performances which had soaring levels of
competition. The pages which follow provide a detailed insight into the
activities and highlights of various clubs of GCE. Get ready for the tour,
readers..

OPPOSITE ROUND
Opposite round was
about getting to watch the
Michael Jacksons and Padma
Subramanyams of GCE
perform on same stage .
SYNCHRO ROUND
Synchro round threw an open
choice to the teams for
selecting their game. Chairs,
pots, plates and other
properties accompanied the
dexterous dancers who put
up a wondrous show.
D ance is a passion. The Dance club of the college lives up to these words. The
dance crew dances with such elegance, style and passion. Anybody can dance
and one would realize how true this is when one takes a look at the crowd when
the dance crew is performing on the stage. The whole crowd is brought to its feet by the
members of the dance club.
WESTERN DANCE
The Western dance depicted the
western dance forms. With
western music coming out of the
juke box, the teams in jeans put
forth alluring performances.
EASTERN DANCE
When Dhotis and sarees fill
up the stage, our feet tend
to tap naturally. The dance
crews put up performances
that contained the essence
of the traditional dance
forms of South India.
ADAPT TUNE
The songs kept changing from rock to
melody to folk, and the dancers
tactically danced to the various
genres of music with their legs hardly
stopping for a second, to catch up
with the tune.
IMITATION ROUND
In this round, the
students had to come up with a
dance performance imitating
actors of their choice by
selecting a concept of their
interest.

interactions involving the club can be better described as get-togethers than
meetings. Various fun-packed and interactive activities, which test one‟s presence of
mind and knowledge along with English proficiency, are held regularly by the club. The Club
is not only known for its active and enthusiastic functioning, but also for its regular
