THE DAV MOVEMENT : A LIVING LINEAGE

OUR MOTTO

The commemoration of contributions of Swami Dayanand Saraswati to unlocking of the Vedic knowledge from the closets and cloisters of seminaries and making it unavailable to common man gave birth to the DAV movement. The DAV educational institutions have risen from ashes like the phoenix. They are living reality in the 21st Century India from the north to the south and the east to the west. The nerve centre, the DAV College Managing Committee is located in New Delhi. The oldest DAV School, Lahore is relocated in Ambala. Indeed there are many more new DAVs in India and abroad. Moving on and on is indeed the pragmatic motto of the DAV movement. 'Charaiveti, Charaiveti' says the Vedic philosophy of life. And this is what DAV is all about. The Dayanand Anglo Vedic movement is a living lineage of the Vedic culture and Arya Samaj as enunciated by Swami Dayanand Saraswati and propagated by Mahatma Hansraj and Lala Mulkraj. The movement has flourished with the sincere and motivating efforts of dynamic dignitaries along with devoted principals and teachers. A crusade for quality education has been launched. The DAV College Managing Committee chalked out an ambitious plan of opening a network of Public Schools with a view to bringing about harmonious and wholesome development of personality in the fabric of which academic and moral education are interwoven with the message, "Give the world the best you have and the best will come back to you".

The institution aims to lead from darkness to the light by imparting holistic education for the free and full development of a well-balanced human personality. To meet this end, our objectives are : To promote western science coupled with Vedanta. To develop an effective command over languages and communication. To imbibe a scientific temper of curiosity, awareness and understanding

of everything. To think, see and do things for himself, become self reliant, self respecting

and self confidence. To promote creativity, initiative and individuality. To acquire Physical fitness, co-ordination and skills. To be a disciplined, well mannered and cultured, tolerant and liberal, co-

operative and caring human beings. To keep pace with the rapidly advancing world, but retain timeless values

of honesty, integrity, generosity, concern and respect. To make kind contribution to the society through spreading value-based

education keeping the ancient vedic heritage in mind.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE SCHOOL

'Don't carry your mistakes around you; instead place them under your feet and use them as stepping stones to rise above them'

This is what PVSS DAV Public School has been doing since its inception to scale the Himalayan height on the path of progress. Catering to a long standing need of Koderma district, the school has left everybody spell bound with its achievements in both the scholastic and co-scholastic spheres. Confined to a small rented building with only 60 students and 08 teachers in the year 1992, the school has received a major boost in its shape and size with its four storeyed palatial building with more than 2500 students, 100 teaching and non-teaching staff members under the control and guidance of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. The edifice of the School is placed on 6.5 acres of land containing Classrooms, Computer Lab, Science Laboratories, Staff Rooms, Examination Cell, Principal

Chamber, Office, Library, Toilets and other amenities fitted with CCTV Camera at every nook and corner. Nestled in the lush and picturesque countryside at Goushala Road, the School campus provides a welcome relief from pollution. A stone fitted assembly ground, a large playing field and the clear blue sky make an atmosphere conducive to the holistic growth and development of school children. The school is an English medium co-educational institution and affiliated to CBSE, Delhi upto Class XII with Science and Commerce streams. Cent-percent result in Std. VIII, X and XII has become a permanent feature of the school which gives an evidence of the standard of Education being imparted here. Many students have participated and achieved grand success in the DAV National sports at Cluster, Zonal and Inter Zonal levels. Under the aegis of Koderma District Sahodaya Complex, students have got a new platform to hone their latent skills and stand strong in a cut-throat competitive world. To enhance the standard of the students, different clubs like Science Club, Mathematics Club, Interact Club, English Club etc. are into active existence in the school.Programmes of various co-curricular activities are framed. Students can participate in them according to their preferences. There are provisions for vocal and instrumental music, drawing and painting, modelling and literary work, recitations and elocution, debate and discussion, quiz, drama, project work, science exhibition and others.Wall magazines are a special feature. Students prepare to display them. Moreover, an Annual School Magazine. Containing poems, stories, paintings articles, riddles, jokes etc. from students and teachers is published and released. To cater to the needs of a heterogeneous group of learners of this area, the school has been accredited to function as the study centre of National Institute of Open Schooling upto pre-degree level through open learning system as an alternative to formal education system. To create an atmosphere of healthy competition and team spirit, most of the school activities are governed by a House System. Inter House Competitions are held regularly.Co-curricular Activities : The students are exposed to co-curricular activities like sketching, singing, dancing, public speaking and gardening and it is ensured that discipline becomes the second nature of them. Individual and consistent monitoring of the students enables the teacher to recognize the field in which a particular child can excel. A regular record of the excellent performers is maintained and such star performers are sent as and when required to participate in the inter school competitions.Music : The music room of the school is not only suitably located but also well decorated. The setting inside the room is quite conducive to the budding artists. The high quality and variety of musical instruments with which the music department is equipped are sure means to make learning easy; interesting and productive. Children practice regularly and get training in Indian Classical vocal music under the able guidance of our music teachers.Library : The school has a very rich library with more than 9200 volumes. The books available on a variety of subjects greatly facilitate learning. A constant endeavour is made to enrich the library with the latest books as well as Audio-Visual aids.Lecture Theatre : It is the recent addition to this temple of learning, which is a fit place for the serious deliberations on the advancement of learning.
