ANNUAL SYLLABUS 2018-2019
FOCUS Our curriculum focuses on activities and theme based learning which includes learning by doing. Our lessons
are well planned and supplemented with the following four steps:-
• Experience
• Experiments
• Explorations
• Educational trips
We are providing the students with an opportunity to observe, explore and interact with the environment
thus encouraging them to discover and develop an understanding about the same.
In the academic year 2018-19 , our aim is to enhance the ability of our learner in the following areas:-
TEACHING METHODOLOGY
At G.D Goenka Global School, we believe in imparting quality education that goes beyond the text book
teaching and develops critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in the students.
The whole idea of our curriculum is to focus on the four language skills i.e. listening, speaking, reading and
writing.
General Goal
✓ To develop phonics & vowel awareness and use the same to read and write the words in English and
Hindi
✓ To develop word recognition skills and recognize words with common spelling patterns and
also generate more rhyming words with same patterns.
✓ To inculcate the values in the learner like honesty, truthfulness, courtesy, sincerity therefore project
based learning shall be followed.
✓ To use their knowledge of sound symbol relationship and phonological patterns.
✓ To blend consonant and vowel to read unfamiliar words.
✓ To enable them to understand and frame simple sentences on their own.
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
✓ Identify singular and plural nouns.
✓ Countable noun and uncountable noun.
✓ Shall learn synonyms and antonyms.
✓ Use the plural form of nouns taught appropriately while speaking and writing.
✓ Use of articles, auxiliary verbs, demonstrative pronouns appropriately.
✓ Use appropriate Adjective to describe different kinds of nouns.
✓ Adverbs, verbs, prepositions.
✓ Reading comprehension.
LISTENING
✓ Shall acquire the qualities of an attentive listener.
✓ Follow simple commands/directions and classroom instruction in English.
✓ Participate in short conversations in English. Seeking and conveying information in simple terms.
✓ Shall learn to enjoy rhymes and music.
✓ Identify and relate sound patterns to his surroundings.
✓ Ask questions to clarify and confirm one’s understanding.
SPEAKING
✓ Shall learn to talk about oneself, one’s family, familiar objects, pictures, activities, and people in life.
✓ Develop an ability to recite rhymes.
✓ Develop an ability to identify the phonics.
✓ Develop an ability to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings in short simple sentences.
✓ Will be able to narrate an incident/story with or without action.

READING
✓ Recognize that spoken words can be represented by print for communication.

✓ Follow words from left to right and top to bottom of a page.
✓ Identify the parts of a book like title name of the author, illustrator etc.
✓ Understand the function of sight reading.
✓ Recognize that sentences are comprised of words ,separated by spaces and demonstrate the
awareness of words boundaries.
WRITING
✓ Draw one’s thoughts, feeling, idea and talk about it. ✓ Share writing with others.
✓ Write simple and complete sentences which are grammatically correct.
✓ Attempt to spell all the component sounds in such a way that they are approximate to correct spelling.
✓ Use appropriate descriptive words when writing in order to add detail to the expression.
