✘ What exams? When?
✘ Where do I find useful resources?
✘ What revision are we doing in lessons?
✘ What about outside lesson time?
✘ How do I revise for Science?

In-lesson Revision

✘ Mnemonics are good for learning lists
✗ e.g.“Have No Fear Of Ice Cold Beer”
✘ Test yourself (or get someone to test you) regularly
✘ List of physics equations you have to learn is in the folder
✘ For Chemistry, you need to know reactivity series and
charges on common ions
Required Practicals
✘ A relatively weak point for Y11 last year
✘ Do you know what they are?
✘ You need to know the method
✘ You need to know why you do each step
✘ You need to be able to analyse results that you may be
given
Revision Strategy 1 - If you start early!
Review
● Notes● Revision guides● Seneca● GCSE Pod● BBC Bitesize● “Useful Links”
Create
● Revision notes● Revision cards● Topic-on-a-page● Post-its● Mind maps● Podcasts● Cornell notes● Be creative!
Test
● Exam Practice books
● Specimen Papers● Past papers from
old spec● Educake● Online quizzes● Family● Revision apps
Remedy
● Go back over the bits you didn’t do so well
● Do you need to amend your notes etc?
● Test again● Repeat as
necessary
Revision Strategy 2 - slightly less time!
Test Again
Test yourself again
Test
Find out what you know and more importantly, what you don’t know!
Remedy
Review the parts of the topic you didn’t know, then create your revision resources to plug the gaps in knowledge.
Seneca Learning
✘ More active than just using a revision guide
✘ Good for covering content/concepts
✘ Still need to practice answering exam questions
✘ I’ve set up classes with an assignment for each unit (B1a etc)
✘ One assignment a week will (just about!) fit before the exams start
Combined Foundation084p5tC3487
Combined Higher63fikz8si1
Separate HigherBbz4ir681r
Separate Foundation3th9qjp5vp
Anything Else?
If you come across any good revision resources,
let me know!
✘ Where is it?
✘ What do you like about it?
✘ What does it cost?
Key Messages
✘ Good revision is active
✘ Just reading your notes is passive
✘ Make sure you’ve bought your exam practice books
✘ Test, test and test again!
Key Messages
✘ Good luck!
