N E W S R E L E A S E FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 17, 2008 Contact: Communication and Media Relations, 678-301-6020 GCPS students up for the spelling bee challenge 76 Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) students will compete for one of 12 spots as a Gwinnett County spelling champion. The students, who already have earned the title of top speller at their local schools, will participate in the 2008 Gwinnett County Spelling Bee. 57 Gwinnett elementary schools are participating along with 19 middle schools. The annual event will be held January 26, 2008, in the Central Gwinnett High Theater. Registration takes place from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The local school winner from each of the participating schools will compete in the Written Bee, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Based on this competition, the top 12 spellers will move on to the Oral Bee. The public is welcome to watch the Oral Bee immediately following the Written Bee. The top 12 spellers also will represent GCPS in the District 3 Bee. The District 3 Bee takes place at 10:00 a.m. on February 23, 2008, at Collins Hill High. GCPS students up for the spelling bee challenge

76 Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) students will compete for one of 12 spots

as a Gwinnett County spelling champion. The students, who already have earned the title of

top speller at their local schools, will participate in the 2008 Gwinnett County Spelling

Bee. 57 Gwinnett elementary schools are participating along with 19 middle schools. The
