１．About This Manual

1. About this manual

GCMS Plus is now able to accept Chinese characters for some fields, and this manual explains the details

of the update.

Please refer to "Screen Guide" and "Operation Flow" in GCMS Plus online manuals if there is no

explanation in this manual.

●Payments:

How to create / inquire about payment instructions including Chinese characters.

Only for customer with accounts in Hong Kong Branch or Taipei Branch.

In the “Payments” menu, when you set a settlement account in Hong Kong Branch or Taipei Branch and

the beneficiary bank is located in mainland China, Chinese characters can be inputted in specific fields.

●Reporting:

How to inquire about a customer's account information.

Only for customers with accounts in Hong Kong Branch or MUFG Bank (China), Ltd.

(Head Office, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Wuxi, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao,

Wuhan, Shenyang, or Suzhou, Fuzhou, Hangzhou branches *as of the date of revision of this Manual)

When you look into account information for the branches mentioned above, Transaction Details

information written in Chinese characters will be displayed at the "Account Information Inquiry" and

"Inward Remittance Report" screens in the Inquiry menu.

(The "Inward Remittance Report" screen is not available for MUFG Bank (China).)

Chinese characters are accepted for the following fields.

- Beneficiary Information: Name

- Beneficiary Information: Address

- Beneficiary Bank Information: Beneficiary Bank Name

- Beneficiary Bank Information: Branch Name / Address

- Message to Beneficiary

- Information to Remitting Bank

Chinese character is accepted on some conditions.

Please refer to [Note] below for the details of the

conditions.

first digit of any 4 digit numbers

Master Registration - Select to register the inputted information in Master.

This cannot be selected if the Beneficiary Name, Beneficiary

Address, Beneficiary Bank Name or Branch Name / Address

contains Chinese characters.

- Chinese characters are acceptable if the instruction satisfies the following two conditions.

1. The Settlement Account is in Hong Kong Branch(*1) or Taipei Branch.

(*1) The branch name for the accounts held at the former Kowloon Branch will have a period (“.”) added

to “Hong Kong Branch”.

2. Satisfies at least one of the following conditions:

- The country in the Beneficiary Bank Information ends with "China", "CHN", "CN" or "P.R.C.". (*2)

- The SWIFT BIC of the Beneficiary Bank Information is entered and its 5th and 6th characters are "CN".

- CNAPS code, e.g. "CN + 12 or 14-digit number" is entered in Information to Remitting Bank.

(*2)"China" is case-insensitive. "CHN", "CN", "P.R.C." is applicable only when they are in capitals.

- One Chinese character will be converted into 5 alphanumeric characters (4 digits number + 1 space) and will

be transmitted. As one line should be 35 alphanumeric characters, the Chinese character might be

unexpectedly converted if the Customer inputs data like the example below.

As one line would exceed 35 alphanumeric characters, the last 1 Chinese character might be misconverted.

- Please be aware of the following when Chinese characters and half-width alphanumeric characters are

mixed:

Since a half-width space is automatically added for each half-width alphanumeric string, the number of

inputtable characters decreases by the number of the spaces.

You can confirm that the number of inputtable characters does not exceed the specified number of characters

by adding a half-width space before each half-width alphanumeric string.

- Chinese characters are acceptable for the following fields in payment upload data.

(*1) 1 Chinese characters are equivalent to 5 alphanumeric characters (4 digit number + 1 space).

(*2) If the data length is less than the specified number of characters, please fill with spaces.

Please refer to FAQ [Payments Upload Data (GCMS Plus format)] for an explanation of other fields.

- Chinese characters are acceptable if the instruction satisfies the following two conditions:

1. The Settlement Account is in Hong Kong Branch(*3) or Taipei Branch.

(*3) The branch name for the accounts held at the former Kowloon Branch will have a period (“.”) added to

“Hong Kong Branch”.

2. Satisfies at least one of the following conditions.

- The country in the Beneficiary Bank Information ends with "China", "CHN", "CN" or "P.R.C.". (*4)

- The SWIFT BIC of the Beneficiary Bank Information is entered and its 5th and 6th characters are "CN".

- CNAPS code, e.g. "CN + 12 or 14-digit number" is entered in Information to Remitting Bank.
