CEO REVIEW

CEO IN ACTION

GOSCOR GLOBE - Issue 2: 2017

ABOUT THE GLOBE FROM OUR CEO

Dear Goscorians,

The Vision of Goscor - to be the first choice supplier of world-class industrial and construction equipment, is something I know we all strive for all day, every day…and quite often at night as well!

This must remain the core focus for all of us at Goscor, but equally important is the way we go about our day-to-day tasks at Goscor. This is the culture of our organisation, this is the blood that runs in our Goscorian veins, this is the flesh on the bones of our organisation, this is how we interact with each other as a team, with our customers, with our suppliers and with our environment in South Africa. This is all encapsulated in our Goscor Values.

Remember them? Professionalism, Partnership, Pas-sion, Integrity, Family Values, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment. Do you live by these values?

When times are tough, as they are at the moment, the way we conduct ourselves in the workplace, at home and our lives in general, can and will be tested. This is the time we need to

re-focus on what makes Goscor what it is, what makes us successful and what makes Goscor a great place to work.

Over the next little while I will be reminding us all about each and every one of these values and what they really mean to me, as well as the behaviours and habits they demand from all of us. I ask you all to do the same – think about them and remind yourselves what they are all about.

I have paged through the Globe and I see many interesting articles about our business, our customers and our people. Enjoy the read!

Regards,

Neil

IT NEWS

THE VOICE OF GOSCOR

In May, a viral Ransomware variant called WanaCrypt0r 2.0, also known as WanaCry or WCry, locked up over 75 000 busi-ness computers in 99 countries.

What is Ransomware?Ransomware is a particularly nasty type of malware that blocks access to a computer or its data and demands money for its release.

How does it work? When a computer is infected, the Ransomware typically con-tacts a central server for the information it needs to activate, and then begins encrypting files on the infected computer with that information. Once all the files are encrypted, it posts a message asking for payment to decrypt the files – and threat-ens to destroy the information if it doesn’t get paid, often with a timer attached to ramp up the pressure.

How does it spread? Most Ransomware is spread hidden within Word documents, PDFs and other files normally sent via email, or through a sec-ondary infection on computers already infected by viruses that offer a back door for further attacks.

How do we safeguard against virus infection and Ransomware? The Goscor IT Department has deployed several safeguards against infection, including a centralised firewall, mail filtering and antivirus solution that scans and monitors all incoming and outgoing traffic.

In May, we rejected more than 350 000 emails with virus-in-fected attachment and fake credentials. But even with all these security measures, it is not impenetrable, and a well-educated userbase is key to a successful security strategy.

When receiving emails from unknown recipients, please do not open the attachment. Typically, a suspicious mail would not contain any mail signature with telephone contact numbers which could be used to verify the sender. Save your files on the file servers, which are well-secured and backed-up.

Do not install additional software from any source without con-sulting IT for a solution, and refrain from streaming music and movies from the internet.

Recently marketing made its way to Magic Monkey Recording studios to record the new holding message for all business units. Please meet Dominic, the new voice of Goscor!

2017 already feels more positive economically than 2016, which was a tough year. Some of the goings on in world politics can be distract-ing. We should not let this distract us, but remain aware of it, as it does affect the business environment.

At InServe, we have made some excellent progress. The RFF cul-ture, driven by Ben Churr with the support of all, is gathering momentum and delivering results. We have concluded an agreement with Afrit to become part of InServe. However, it is still subject to Competition Commission approval, and there are other conditions precedent which need to be fulfilled before close and implementation. The van der Wetering Family showed great patience, integrity and trust in the final negotiations, in the true spirit of InServe.

SA vs France @ Kingspark Saturday 17 June. The Springboks came to the economic hub of South Africa, Durban, the home of the greatest rugby team in South Africa, the Sharks. Concord Cranes, Uni-span and Goscor Lift Trucks entertained 45 clients from ten different companies during a spectacular afternoon and evening

of entertainment. The clients thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Concord Cranes, recently acquired a new LTM 1750 750 t mobile crane. This monster of a machine was acquired mainly to service wind farms across the country. With the crane’s height capabilities, it allows for effortless replacement of various components in the turbines, and wherever areas are difficult to gain access. The LTM 1750 has already been used on two projects. The first one was for the installation of 622 t bridge beams in Mthatha, and the other at Coega Port in Port Elizabeth.

Concord Cranes is currently in negotiation with Siemens to be added to its vendor list to tender for servicing wind farms throughout South Africa. Contact has also been made to service wind farms in Africa.

Mike Keats in KZNThe importance of synergy, teamwork and a common goal for the region were the main topics of discussion at the recent InServe meeting in Durban, the second in KZN to focus on the RFF culture and teamwork. Excellent results have been enjoyed so far The group culture, based on New Vision, New Mission, One

Team, is truly being realised to its full potential.

Brent Viljoen in CPTOnce again, the importance of working together and cost-saving were the main topics of discussion at the recent InServe meeting in Cape Town. It focused on client sharing and allowing each division to implement systems to help the respective divisions with cost-saving. This included using one another’s yards to cut

costs for location jobs.

HANTEERDER

GROENTE DADELIK IN KRATTEMnr.

Prys: Vanaf R3 000 (BTW ingesluit).

SKOONMAKER

Prys: R9 500 (BTW ingesluit).

Challenges“Goldfields have a presence at 15 operational sites across the country

with warehousing strategically located in Johannesburg, Durban and

Cape Town. We specialise in raw material warehousing, finished goods

warehousing, distribution centres and local distribution” says Ian

Ehlers - Warehouse Manager for Goldfields JHB.

“Keeping the 30 000 sqm warehouse and yard clean and having the

right cleaning equipment at hand for this task was an enormous

challenge I have faced “says Ehlers.

SolutionDue to our long term relationship with Goscor Lift Truck Company, we

approached Goscor Cleaning Equipment due to their experience in the

market of specialised cleaning equipment. GCE provided us with a

same-day onsite survey and demonstration using the Tennant T20

heavy-duty industrial ride-on scrubber, from this it was evident that

this machines performance was unattached and that it was the perfect

solution for the Goldfields warehouse says Ehlers.

COVER STORY

The Goscor Group showed off its machine muscle power at NAMPO. This show attracts the crème de la crème of the decision-makers in the agricultural community each year. In 2017, it celebrated it’s 50th year, and the Goscor Group was proud to be there in full swing! The annual four-day event attracted a record 75 116 visitors and a total of 685 exhibitors. The Goscor Group secured a prime outdoor stand. It showcased the latest products and solutions from Bobcat, Goscor Power Products, Goscor Lift Truck Company, Goscor Rental Company, and Goscor Cleaning Equipment. Our sister company Prowalco also joined in and took space on the Goscor stand. The Group companies planned some great show specials far in advance, and took advantage of marketing these at the local co-ops in the area long before the show started, which gave them a good heads-up. The leads generated showed good potential of orders to come, while some business units actually sold machines at the show. Goscor Group representatives enjoyed spending time together on the stand, and a great team spirit was fostered for the duration of the show. On the Bobcat and Sany side, a special focus was the launch of a new compact backhoe loader and telehandler especially for the farming community. Goscor Cleaning Equipment offered special prices on two of its high-pressure cleaning machines, while Goscor Power Products had specific show specials on most of its products, which were available for purchase from its local dealer. Overall, a good show for the Goscor Group and our InServe partners!

DEALER TRAINING

Bobcat recently attended the Zambian government’s local council conference in Livingstone, Zambia, focus on the country’s infrastructure and development.

The conference was a huge success, drawing 212 decision-makers from each council. These decision-makers are key for future government council equipment purchases. Other suppliers attending included the Cat brand and Housom, a Chinese supplier of LuGong Equipment.

Delta Auto hosted a cocktail dinner for the Mayors and Cabinet Secretaries from the 106 councils at the Courtyard Hotel and Conferencing Centre in Livingston, Zambia on 25 April. The cocktail function was held away from the conference itself in a separate event in order to capture the Mayors and Cabinet Secretaries attention about the Bobcat brand, and to explain how the equipment could provide a total solution for their different requirements.

Attendees showed great interest when they were taken out to view the machines on display. In particular, the Bobcat TLB was of much interest to Mayors discussing purchasing options.

The benefits, and how the machines could improve their infrastructure, were all explained.

The event was a huge success, presided over by the President Chair of the Mayors Council. Great interest was shown by the Mayors and Cabinet Secretaries, with most of them scheduling further meetings to discuss their specific needs. Bobcat was requested provide advice and offer solutions to their current needs. Each council has US$150 000 (1.5m Kwacha) to purchase equipment. Bobcat staged visits to the various councils over May and June 2017.

Rhandir Haripersad, GM, Africa and Ritesh Ramjattan, Business Manager Africa, visited the Taylor Smith dealer in Mauritius. As part of the business trip, they also visited S.K.C. Surat Ltd – Cure Pipe Mauritius. S.K.C. Surat Ltd is a leader in the fruit and vegetable wholesale and distribution business in the Mauritian market, with a turnover of 395 million rupees a year and a portfolio of 850 clients, which is growing every day. It deals with over 150 foreign companies. More than 250 different products are coming from local suppli-ers all around the island, as well as foreign suppliers all around the world. “We visited them to propose a materials-handling solution for their current operations, and a cleaning solution to clean their warehouse and outside operational areas. We will assist in the design of the new warehouse and specify machines for this” says Rhandir.

THE ‘BIGGEST DECK’ IN AFRICA UNVEILEDThe HL-275 D27 from Holland Lift of The Netherlands was officially launched at Goscor Access Rental’s Montague Gardens facility in Cape Town on 31 March, where IDS was one of the first customers in South Africa to deploy the new machine. The Holland Lift machine features a wheel base that is 60 cm longer. It is also capable of lifting a ton up to its full working height of 27.5 m. notes Goscor Access Rental General Manager, Nici Verster. The launch was a great success; customers came out in numbers despite the wet weather, which was a blessing for the people of Cape Town..

Blazing the way for women in a traditionally male-dominated industry, excelling at maintain-ing long-term client relationships and customer service, in addition to sales, the ‘women of access’ are helping the company reach new heights. We are proud of Shirly Smit & Sthem-bile Khoza, Sales Rep, for being the best in the business.

Sthembile Khoza, Sales Rep, shared a personal message to women wanting to follow a similar career trajectory is simple: “Get rid of the fear. You can do it. It always looks intimidating from the outside, because men do not want you in their space. Whatever you want to achieve, go for it. I think men have been too comfortable for

NO TASK TOO TOUGH FOR THIS BEAST!

ANOTHER HAPPY CLIENT

BACKHOE LOADERS ARE A HIT

Whatever the application – digging, trenching, breaking and ma-terials-handling, to name just a few – Bobcat Backhoe Loaders have the strength to power these efficiently. Under the hood, they have the best-in-class hp engine for powerful performance to take on tough jobs with high fuel economy.

B700

This entry-level Backhoe Loader includes many of the B730s features: it is driven by a synchro shuttle transmission, it has ‘cab and canopy’ and ‘2WD or 4WD’ options, and it has a single loader bucket cylinder with a full cylinder diameter to increase breakout force and reduce maintenance costs, with fewer hoses and fittings.

B730

Powered by a 100 hp turbocharged engine, driven through a standard powershift transmission, and controlled by mechanical levers, this model is equipped with 18” front tyres and two-wheel steer. Double loader bucket cylinders provide superior breakout force and reduced maintenance costs, with bolt-type cylinder head design.

At the time of going to print, we have two B700s in stock, and 24 B730 units sold to date, the B700’s bigger brother.

Of the 16 units left in stock, 11 are already reserved for sale!

WorkSaver calls the Bobcat E55 ‘A leader in its class’, adding further that ‘the new E55 outperforms other excavators in the 5 t weight class’.

This is a conventional tail-swing model packed with a heavy punch, exceptional performance, dig depth, and dump height. Confined spaces no longer pose a challenge thanks to the Bobcat E55. This mini-excavator moves easily through spaces such as doors, gates, and onto trailers, thanks to the conventional tail swing.

The Bobcat E55 has a variety of options and attachments to suit the daily task at hand, such as a long arm, angle blade, and clamp. The fingertip-controlled boom offset offers the double benefit of improved controllability of the boom-swing function, while creating more floor space and comfort for the operator.force and reduced maintenance costs, with bolt-type cylinder head design.

Two S450 closed cab units were delivered to Tip Trans in June. Well done, Eric Joosten for ensuring customer service in style!

A ROYAL AFFAIR

KALAHARI GOLF CHALLENGE

SALES CONFERENCE

The Royal Agricultural Show exhibits the finest livestock and agricultural equipment that Kwazulu-Natal has to offer. Coupled with an amusement park, this made for a wonderful business and family outing!

The Bobcat KZN team grasped the opportunity to ‘unleash the beast’, being the new Bobcat TLB, as the main part of their ex-hibit, along with the most commonly-sold equipment such as the S550 skidsteer loader, E55 mini excavator, and the T870 tracked loader. The team, lead by Brian Rachman, set up an attractive stand, attracting people from farmers to construction companies as well as families showing a keen interest in the Bobcat brand.

Bobcat Equipment SA received sensational exposure from the show, and did a brilliant job upholding and marketing the Bobcat brand. Thank you to all for the hard work that made this show such a success!

The Bobcat team had their annual sales conference at the spectacular venue Prynnsberg Estate. The Conferece started on Sunday and was filled with talks, sales and product training.

Marc Bernard presented profile training that profiles a client according to their personality traits and thereby giving sales staff a peek into the requirements of such a personality within business. Olivier Bonnet explained the technical and theoretical background of products such as minni escavators, telescopic handlers, skidsteers and backhoe loaders.

The team participated in polo and bicycle games that took Andre Steenkamp, National Sales Manager, Bobcat - 3 weeks to recover. The team watched as a T4180 Telehandler planted a pole in the middle of the dirt road. The Conference was concluded in a church built in the 1800’s where the team enjoyed a small prize giving at the end of the evening.

NEW CLEANING CONCEPT SEES DEMISE OF MOP-AND-BUCKET SYSTEM

GCE ADDS SPARKLE AT MALL OF AFRICA

PURRRFECT TAIL-WAGGING!

The Cleantex Pulire exhibition was held from 12 -14 June, and GCE were there to launch the Kaivac No-Touch Cleaning® system to the African market.

The introduction of Kaivac into the local market is part of GCE’s underlying philosophy of providing the latest technology to ensure its customers benefit from the lowest total cost of ownership.“It is going to revolutionise the whole cleaning industry. It is basically saying let us get rid of mops, because they simply move the dirt. It focuses on dirt not as grime, but as potentially harmful contaminants. How do we ensure we remove all bacteria so that the contamination does not multiply? Kaivac equipment is de-signed around that concept,” GCE General Manager, Greg Venter comments.

Kaivac International Business Manager, Marc Ferguson adds that this makes the company’s products a natural fit with GCE’s existing portfolio. “Clearly GCE is an expert in the industrial and commercial cleaning environment. Our products are really com-plementary,” Ferguson stresses.

The Mall of Africa holds the current title of Africa’s largest mall at 485 000 m², with 131 000 m² of retail space. In the first month, the footfall through the mall was 1 587 854. Labukon Invest-ments performs the mammoth task of ensuring that the Mall of Africa remains sparkling clean. Renier Ellis, Goscor Cleaning Industrial Specialist, recently treated Labukon Investments to a demonstration of the fabulous Tennant 800 ride-on sweeper. Both client and dirt were blown away by the sheer efficiency and superior performance of the unit. Upon request of a very happy client, the deal was sealed on the spot, and the unit remained on-site to ensure that the Mall of Africa remains sparkling clean.

For over 60 years, the NSPCA has been protecting South Africa’s animals in need. However, without donations from the public, it is unable to sustain its activities. Think how often your best friend brings a smile to your face. Always happy to see you, or provide you with a wet and sloppy kiss. Unfortunately, not all of his friends have a human owner to protect, love, and give attention.

Tough economic times result in monthly budget cuts. Fewer ani-mals are provided with treatment, sterilisation, and fulfilment of basic needs, resulting in more animals requiring assistance from the SPCA. Therefore, in true Goscor fashion, the staff at Goscor Cleaning jumped into action when Chrisna Coldrey, member of Unopposed Motor Cycle Club, requested assistance in the collec-tion of pet food for SPCA Kempton Park.

On April Fool’s Day,Goscor Cleaning handed over a large collec-tion of items to a SPCA Kempton Park manager.

GREEN MACHINE: LAUNCHING THE LITTERSUCKER

Medupi Power Station selected Goscor Cleaning Equipment as apreferred supplier of specialised cleaning equipment. GCEdelivered the environmentally-friendly high-point HPVR -1000liquid ring vacuum truck to the power station, and an additionalvac truck was delivered to Kendal Power Station. A full case study has been compiled on this handover.

One early April morning, with the smell of coffee hanging heavily in the air, the Goscor Cleaning Equipment staff huddled in the showroom, each with a delicious doughnut in hand. If you thought it was a birthday, you would be wrong. This monthly gathering is better known as Coffee Chat at GCE. Coffee Chat is always eagerly anticipated, not just for the great coffee and doughnuts, but to hear the latest news from GM, Greg Venter.

The April Coffee Chat was filled to the brim with good news, highlighting the company’s latest sterling performance. In addition two new sales executives, Anel Kok and Leoni Truter, received a warm welcome from everyone present. Employee of the month was awarded for the first time to a sales staff member. Our congratulations go to Matthew Middleton!

Goscor Cleaning Equipment has introduced the latest cleaning equipment technology into the Southern African market with its launch of the GM1ze from Green Machines International GmbH.

“This compact litter sucker not only saves time thanks to its pow-erful battery, but is also easy to operate, and enhances hygiene, safety, and environmental awareness,” GCE General Manager Greg Venter comments.

The GM1ze’s water system consists of an electric water pump and an intermittent water spray nozzle, with a 10 litre water tank. The mounted 125-mm-diameter suction pipe features an anti-clogging grid to prevent blockage by debris such as plastic bags, paper, and leaves. Made from lightweight fibreglass, this pipe weighs less than 1.5 kg.

“We strive to not only introduce the latest technology into the market, of which the GM1ze is the latest example, but also to remain at the leading edge of international cleaning trends.

“In this regard, the zero emission and low noise features of the Green Machine equipment will definitely set a new benchmark in the Southern African cleaning industry,” Venter concludes.

Quatro Cleaning purchased a T7 and S20 for cleaning the Distell Site in Springs. George Jolly, Key Accounts Executive, is seen here handing over the machines to a happy customer.

Heino Aylward handed over the first front-end loader to owner Eugene Geldenhuis of Tipper & Co on 21 April. It is also the proud owner of a 30 t excavator handed over on a previous occasion. Tipper & Co is extremely happy with these machines, which adds more power to its brickwork site.

The SY500H is the largest excavator offered by SANY in North America. This machine has the power to handle larger jobs such as pipelines and mining.

This is a stout 50 t excavator with the added reliability and efficiency of the Cummins Tier 4F engine. The removable counterweight system reduces transportation cost and complication. The SY500H easily outshines the competition. Operating Weight:50 100kg

APEX IN HOLLAND

MECOM IN MAURITIUS

ATN, FRANCE

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING FOR TECHNICIANS

HOSPICE GOLF DAY

The Goscor Access team, consisting of George Landsberg, An-drew Kendrick, and Nici Verster, travelled to Amsterdam for Apex in early May to discover the latest developments in the fast-grow-ing access equipment industry.

Apex, an acronym for the Access Platform Exhibition, is the biggest access equipment show in the world, held once every three years. The team was able to view international exhibitors, expand their business network, and see new product launches and innovative technologies – including a virtual-reality machine operation.

Over the week that the team was there, it also visited the Holland Lift factory in Hoorn. Goscor Access Rental was first asso-ciated with Holland Lift with its ‘Biggest Deck’ launch in Cape Town late March.

Holland Lift CEO Eline Oudenbroek and Marketing Head Benito Saporito accompanied the team in exploring the factory, seeing the production channels and discussing the strategic marketing that has worked so well for them. They commented that they had been specifically impressed by Holland Lift’s focus and dedica-tion to product quality.

Amsterdam was an enriching visit for the team, and the insights obtained have been brought back home to be implemented to expand Goscor Access’s footprint and product offering.

Goscor Hi-Reach MD George Landsberg spent some time in Mauritius to advise Mecom, its Mauritian dealer, on a new business venture earlier this year.

Mecom is currently the official distributor of Goscor Hi-Reach’s full product line-up, including Genie, ATN, Hydralada, and Tuepen equipment in Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, and Reunion. The new initiative will potentially expand and strengthen Mecom’s relationship with Goscor Hi-Reach.

The trip also allowed for George and Mecom’s Laurent Rouge, Luc Bax and Denis Lagesse to spend vital time together, talking about business and visiting customers.

During their time in Europe, the Goscor Access team also went to Bordeaux, France to visit ATN in the village of Tonneins. ATN, as many may know, is home to the Zebra 12, and the mast booms that Goscor Hi-Reach sells and Goscor Access Rental hires out in its rental fleet. A factory tour enlightened the team about the business-centred production process that ATN focuses on for the most effective output.

Hosted by ATN CEO, Daniel Duclos, the team also had an unfor-gettable time on his farm in the countryside where they got to enjoy some fishing, clay-pigeon shooting, and exciting quad-bike rides, as well as visits to some medieval towns.

Goscor Hi-Reach is looking forward to hosting ATN management later this year when it visits South Africa for training and strategy purposes.

In April, Goscor Hi-Reach technicians had the privilege of being trained by technical trainers from Genie, Snorkel, and Teupen. In an effort to upskill the local technicians and equip them to pro-vide world-class machine support, each company representative offered specific training. This training will allow GHR to provide quality servicing to fleets across the country.

As part of the ongoing initiatives of the Eastern Nomads, Goscor Hi-Reach sponsored the Hospice Golf Day on Friday 2 June.

The Golf Day falls under one of three development pillars that the Eastern Nomads is involved with.

This one in particular focused on raising funds for Hospice transport, in order for them to be able to visit their patients in the comfort of their own homes.

Goscor Hi-Reach’s flags flew proudly on one of the golf holes, forming part of the

company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

IMPERIAL RETAIL LOGISTICS WEIR MINERALS Airports are busy places. One of these ‘behind-the-scenes’ giants at Cape Town International Airport is Imperial Retail Logistics. The workhorses that pick, pack, lift, and carry the merchandise are a range of Doosan and Crown materials-handling equipment (MHE) from InServe’s Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC).

“We have 20 Goscor machines in total,” says Frans Kapp, IRL’s compliance manager. They have certainly lived up to their perfor-mance expectations, he points out.

“Productivity in an electric truck is a function of three things: speed, control, and low energy consumption. All of these factors have been achieved with the Doosan B25S-5 through a number of exclusive Doosan design innovations,” says Grant Laight, Sales Manager.

Kapp adds that Goscor’s service has been excellent. “They do what it takes to provide the appropriate solution and, importantly, being a thoroughly professional organisation, they understand the importance of minimum downtime. The name of our game is productivity, and Goscor supports us all the way. Excellent equip-ment means little if there isn’t the service to back it up,” he says. “We look forward to working with them for years to come.”

Thirty eight machines over the last 12 months ...

There are some companies whose quality is instantly apparent, and Weir Minerals in Alrode, Gauteng is one of them. From the security personnel at the gate, to the reception staff who are bright and welcoming, to the shining white lines that demarcate the parking. to the condition of the magazines on the waiting-room table, everything is professionally and carefully organised and maintained.

Weir Minerals decided to do things a little differently about a year ago, and put its materials-handling contract out to tender. Goscor won this on the basis of its outstanding product offering, a competitive pricing structure, and its superior service and support capability – we have had some experience of this in the past – and, very importantly, due to its ability to supply a range of machines for various applications.

Goscor supplies a permanent on-site technician, which is a major advantage, as downtime is kept to the barest minimum. We had high expectations of Goscor, and we have not been disappointed. Everyone at Goscor goes the extra mile – they even organised a golf cart so we can get around our large site more easily.

Goscor also installed a fully-equipped battery bay, with a spare battery for every machine. This facility is a significant boost to our efficiency as it, in conjunction with the system we follow, also helps minimise downtime.

GLTC MD Darryl Shafto says that that Goscor’s relationship with Weir Minerals is an excellent example of how a partnership between supplier and customer produces the best results. “They have a sizeable fleet countrywide requiring constant attention. We provide round-the-clock service, and they get on with what they are good at. We are a team, with each member sticking to its core business and function,” he says.

BUILD IT CONVENTION GLTC recently displayed some of its machines at the annual Build It Convention in KZN. This event draws together all staff in the Build It community. It was a worthwhile event for GLTC to keep their brand alive in the eyes of an important market.

MAKRO FOR MANAGERS CROWN TRAINING

RHINO FOUNDATION

NEW CAPE TOWN RECEPTION

ROYAL CANIN DEAL

GLTC welcomed some visitors from Makro for its managers’ forum! The group enjoyed an interactive session with GLTC management and a site visit of the GLTC premises and facilities. Pictured here are representatives from GLTC, with delegates from Makro. Our national sales team received training directly from the Crown specialists.

Werner Sterngman handing over to Royal Canin

Recently Gocosr Lift Truck Company secured an exciting venture with the Royal Canin brand.

They not only take pet nurtrition seriously, but their brand as well, by requesting that their machines be custom-painted in Manchester City blue and Liverpool red, the official colours of the Royal Canin brand.

Their factory is now fully operational, with full electric and gas operation. It proudly installed state-of-the-art battery bays around the facilities, and also opted for special paint on the units.

Royal Canin procured a total of 16 Crown machines (six reach trucks and ten SCT counterbalance forklifts).

Cape Town’s reception revamp started in April. After several weeks of intense makeover, the end result was nothing short of pro-fessional. From the walls to the desks to the décor, everything was changed. The old dark brown reception table was replaced with a much fresher, modern design that has impressed many visitors. And the Goscor colours incorporated throughout showcases the professional company that we are.

Charlotte Teixeira, receptionist at Goscor CPT, said: “... Something arrived each week. First the table, and then the memorable company milestones picture … and a week after that they started to paint. It was really funny, because I was climbing all over things just to get to the phone. But I must say the end result looks amazing.

“I also helped paint one piece of the wall just to make my mark. I am very proud to be part of Goscor, and to see the changes that have been made.”

Doing our little bit towards the Rhino Foundation, GLTC donated a prize for their Golf Day held on 16 June.

GRC has supplied a Crown SC1.8 t and Doosan BR16 unit to new client Bacher & Company, a South African importer and distributor of global brands.

This is as a result of the excellent service and aftermarket support provided by the company. Bacher & Company enquired initially about a quotation on an electric forklift.

“They were still unsure about committing to us, whereafter we set up a meeting at their premises in order to be able to con-duct a proper needs analysis. This subsequently resulted in our proposal of these two units,” Used Sales Executive, Tebogo Mohlaka explains.

“GRC prides itself on providing professional service to our cli-ents at all times. We partner with our clients in order to supply the best solution possible. We do not give them what they think they want; we offer best advice based on their specificrequirements.” Mohlaka says that what clinched the deal was the fact that GRC is long-established, together with the quality of the brands it represents and the customer service provided.

“We even managed to secure financing for our customer for both the units due to the strong relationship we have with lead-ing financial institutions,” Mohlaka reveals.

This latest contract is likely to result in a longstanding relationship with Bacher & Company, as it includes a maintenance contract as well.

Looking for something to do on a Saturday morning? Why not join the GosFit Team at various Parkrun events around Gauteng, or join them weekday afternoons in order to stay in shape after work? Amanda White from GFC has been the team’s inspiration and personal coach.

Weekday Fitness ProgrammeThe GosFit team, currently comprising GRC, Head Office, and GFC, have been completing a 3.2 km walk twice a week in the afternoons. All Gauteng Goscorians near Barnard Park Stadium are welcome to join the team. The walk starts at about 17:00 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Why Parkrun? To keep the momentum going (staying in shape and getting fit); to do something constructive on a Saturday morning instead of doing absolutely nothing after a long hard working week; and, of course, to get fit!

What is Parkrun?Parkruns are weekly 5 km timed runs held around the country. They are open to everyone, and are free, safe, and easy to take part in. To participate in a Parkrun, you only need to register for a barcode tag and bob’s your uncle, go out and enjoy yourself!

The GosFit Team currently includes Amanda White, Colleen Cron-je, Amanda Manana, and Rene Groenewald.

50 RAMMERS GONE!NEW RATO AND WEIMA BRANDS INTRODUCED

SUCCESS IS LEKKER!

Hireall South Africa, one of the largest independent hire companies in the country, requested a quote for 50 rammers from trusted construction-equipment specialist GPP.

GPP offers the construction market Meiwa rammers, designed specifically for easy, smooth operation, and requiring little main-tenance, giving consumers higher productivity and increased availability.

Hireall accepted our quote for all 50 rammers. To date, GPP has sold about 300 Meiwa rammers in its fleet, valued at R7.2 million, over the last three years. GPP is a proud supplier of these high-quality rammers, and offers excellent aftersales support.

Goscor Power Products has added two new brands to its stable, namely Rato and Weima. It has been well-publicised that Sub-aru/Robin will exit the power products business worldwide, and focus their efforts on the Subaru automotive business.

Keeping this in mind, we approached various factories that have joint ventures with Subaru, and secured distribution rights for their own brands, Rato being one of these. Rato is a well-estab-lished factory in Chonqing China, which has been manufactur-ing products for various Japanese companies such as Subaru, Ellemax Generators, and Koshin Water pumps. It has also worked closely with Wacker Construction Equipment to develop a construction-approved engine for commercial use.

Rato also manufactures commercial-type generators that are ideal for construction-site use, and a full range of water pumps for site applications and agricultural use. “We will fit Rato engines to all our construction equipment, as it is a high-quality product that meets commercial-use applications at a very af-fordable price! Rato is going to be a highly-suitable replacement brand for Subaru. We expect to achieve great sales volumes against other more expensive brands,” says MD Mark Bester.

“Weima is our new diesel-engine range. This brand is highl-rec-ommended for commercial use. Our intention is to fit Weima engines where normal cheap Chinese engines are not suitable, such as construction and agricultural applications, as well as powering generators and welding machines. This brand was only introduced in 2017, and has been very well received by the market. Our first containers are already sold out!” Mark says.

Both these brands will also open new sales channels for OEM applications. “We have already secured our first container order from a major OEM that will fit these engines to pumps for fire-fighting applications,” Mark reveals.

GPP celebrates a successful month over a team braai.

Sales Representative Dumisani Mashaba has delivered his first forklift, a Doosan D50C-5, to GRE Industries. CEO Elton Marshall was pleased when Dumisani was able to assist him with a Short-Term Rental, as one of his units was down at the time, affecting operations.

Dumisani helped replace his old unit with a new Doosan. GRE will maintain a strong relationship based on service delivery. Another happy customer!

Sales Representative, Dumisani Mashaba took Nampak higher when he delivered a Z-34/22J Genie boom lift on a three-month rental contract, with an option for renewal.

Sales Representative Dumisani Mashaba worked with Goscor’s dealer in the Western Cape to deliver a Tennant 5680 scrubber to Famous Brands.

Charlene Sturgeon, Product Support, paid Transnet Engineering, Bloemfontein a visit on 10 May 2017 to meet with Sibusiso, Asset Manager. He is very happy with the service delivery, and they have both agreed to meet every three months to ensure that this high standard of service is maintained. An action plan has been drawn up to assist with his 31 company-owned units, which will see them being replaced with Doosans after the trial period. SIE is currently working on replacing the 12 STRs in his fleet with Doosans on an FML basis. Sibusiso also manages Kimberly, Postmasburg, and De Aar, which could be a great opportunity for Shumani to get in and service all of his sites!

Charlene Sturgeon and Allesha Maniram returned to Bloemfon-tein on 29 May to sign a Service Provider Agreement with Red Planet General Trading, which had been assisting with mainte-nance on the Transnet-owned equipment in the area. The reason for this is to provide an alternative, cost-effective solution to SIE customers nationally. Part of SIE’s BEE obligations is to sup-port up-and-coming small enterprises with enterprise and skills development. Red Planet General Trading is a 100% black owned and managed EME, which also has the relevant technical and business experiences.

As a result of this success in Bloemfontein, Shumani is cur-rently busy recruiting sub-con-tracts on a national basis to assist with all of their customers. Advanced Forklift Services in KwaZulu-Natal has been assist-ing Shumani with all Transnet contracts. It is also a 100% black-owned and managed EME. Transnet has been very pleased with the service delivered by this

partnership between Advanced Forklift Services and SIE.

Following a handover of a Doosan forklift earlier this year, Char-lene Sturgeon, Product Support, visited Bell Equipment in Jet Park, Gauteng for a follow-up visit in order to ensure customer satisfaction. The client was more than happy to see her, and Charlene has subsequently scheduled another visit with the client.

R70 000 RAISED AT CHARITY GOLF DAY

A LETTER OF THANKS FROM LEGACY

Our second Annual Charity Golf Challenge (Western Cape) was held at the beautiful Atlantic Beach Golf Club on Friday 26 May 2017. Sponsors and regional Goscor offices made an outstanding effort to decorate their holes on the day, and to ensure that players were entertained. Bobcat and Lift Trucks won Best Hole, while Goscor Access Rental won a prize for raising the most money for the charity.

A total amount of R12 170 was raised in cash on the day. This, together with other money raised from sponsorships, enabled Goscor to donate R70 000 to the Legacy Development Community. This charity, based in Kayamandi, Stellenbosch started off as a small group of children who came together to sing and dance. They now offer a primary and high school programme for 180 children. “I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors for their continued support year-after-year, helping us achieve our goal of giving a little back to the community,” says Debby Marx, Group Marketing Communications Manager.

A special thanks to Goscor for choosing the Legacy Development Community as your golf day beneficiary. What a great opportunity for us to be part of the development of this community.

We are currently busy with a mentoring programme that directly involves eight mentors. These mentors, all from within the local community, are responsible for mentoring 180 kids at the moment. A lot is expected of them to try and guide our Kayamandi kids to where they will be able to grow and make some wise decisions for their own lives one day.

Groupwork and individual sessions with mentors, as well as other staff, are our way of investing and supporting them with this huge challenge.

THANK YOU!The Legacy Team
