“Taking care of our community”
WHAT HAVE GBNEA ACHIEVED FOR GREAT BADDOW EAST SO FAR...?
YOU ARE INVITED... to our public meeting. On Thursday 28th November at Great Baddow Parish Hall Maldon road at 7:30pm.
MEETING
3
GBENA was originally established in 2016 by local residents who voluntarily help contribute to the community and ‘make a real impact’. At the time it seemed very little was being done by existing organisations when significant incidents were occurring at an increasing frequency. Originally taking form under an exten-sion of Neighbourhood Watch (which seemed the most closely linked organ-isation to address these issues), the association soon found that they were heavily restricted in what could be actively done whilst holding onto this title, due to existing members not wanting to innovate and/or work effectively as preferred by the local residents. Therefore the decision was made to branch off and create this association to work as its own entity. With this GBENA was formed....!
Whilst the title contains ‘East’, the associ-ation is happy to try and help all of Great
Baddow and the reason for adding ‘East’ was because the founding members of the association are based in that area. The association had to bear mind that this is a voluntary association with no official funding, so resources and time are very restricted.
According to the 2011 general census Great Baddow East had 8377 residents, and the West 6273, so a total of 14,650 residents which has no doubt increased considerably since 2011.
Therefore trying to cover the entire area and amount of people in all of Great Bad-dow would have perhaps been an initial step too far, but this does not mean the association cannot work for the West, in fact the association welcomes any persons willing to contribute to the efforts of the Association who are based in West.

As you may now know tenders were sent out on the 22nd October to five companies for demolition of the Army and Navy Flyover ,these are due back by the 22nd November, with a decision being made at the end of November By Essex County Council.
Work to dismantle the flyover is antici-pated to start in late January 2020 and to last for 8 weeks. It will principally be undertaken overnight, including removal of bridge spans (15 in total) and the support-ing steelwork, as it is anticipated this will be relatively noiseless and have less interrup-tion to traffic.
The removal of the on and off ramps which are concrete will be undertaken in daytime as this could be noisy, involving breaking up, in situ, of reinforced concrete. Local residents will be notified of works ahead of them starting, it is anticipated that daily updates will be provided to BBC Essex and ECC website.
Public information was released on 8th November about the alternatives that are available to ECC in relation to permanent solutions for A & N flyover - it is NOT a public consultation at this stage, more to inform the public of options under consid-eration.
Copies will be available in all Chelmsford Libraries, and we will have copies available for our public meeting on 28th November.
Construction works on the new junction layout are not due to start until 2023, although ECC will try and accelerate this as much as possible.
Proposed Timeline is as follows:Late 2019/Early 2020 – Submission of the Business Case to Central Govt to assess and question what is proposed.2020/21 Public Consultation on short-listed alternatives.2021/23 Identify the preferred option, design works & statutory processes.2021/23 Construction works to take place
GBENA have been having regular meetings with Cllr Kevin Bentley and Essex Highways regarding the Army and Navy Junction and below is a summary of our last meeting

NOT ON SOCIAL MEDIA...?We understand that not everyone is on social media for one reason or another.
So at GBENA we decided to create a simple website www.gbena.org where you can still find out the latest news and information in and around Great Baddow.
Still in its early stages we plan for our new website to grow and provide information that we hope will be helpful to local residents.
If you have any comments or requests for our website or are interested in advertising or interested in volunteering your services please email: [email protected]
