Hello Gators,

It has been one hot July topped off by thundering rain storms. Between all the rain Gators sure seemed to find sun-shine.

Captain Hiram's was a super weekend, and when you are having so much fun no one realizes it's sizzling hot. Debbie Haselmire and her handy helpers did an outstanding job with a well-organized event with plenty of home cooked food. Of course, I do believe we went through a lot of ice cold beer. Great Job, Debbie and all helpers.

Some of us visited Mel Fisher’s museum. It was very interesting and educational. No one volunteered to go diving and look for treas-ures, but we all had better insight on what the treasure hunters went through. Just un-believable!

Our Friday Happy Hour had a huge turnout at The Islander Room, a perfect place for Happy Hour. You can enjoy the Tiki Bar outside, where there was actually a cool breeze com-ing off the ocean. Or the inside bar where they served some appetizers. Some danced to the rock and roll music with some old time favorites, Steve and Angela. Just being with Gators and socializing makes a fun filled evening.

Check our web site for lots of Gator activities coming up. We have lots of socials and spe-cials activities for all your enjoyment.

We are currently 3 spots short of selling out the Paganella, Italy trip. We have 7 spots left on the Breckenridge, CO trip, and Beaver Creek is currently at 21 and selling quickly. Whistler, B.C. is currently at 14; I want to remind all of you who have not been to Whistler that it is not only considered one of the best ski resorts in the world, but also a Florida Ski Council trip with many perks, such as parties, happy hours, and rac-es. This promises to be a wonderful trip, take ad-vantage while it is still available. Although we have 60 pillows, we have only been able to secure 34 air seats. Don’t wait, sign up while they are still availa-ble!

The New Park City, which was purchased by Vail Resorts last year, has undergone $50 million in ren-ovations and now connects to Canyons, making it the country’s largest ski resort. Please take the time to go to our website and see the video for yourself, it is quite impressive! The trip is selling out quickly, so reserve your spot while you still can. We will close our season with a Spring Break trip to Keystone, CO, a family-friendly mountain with great snow and night skiing, among many other activities. This is a trip that traditionally sells out quickly. Do not procrastinate, reserve your spots now!

For information on all these mountains, please refer to our website or call our friendly and experienced ski trip leaders.

In closing, I am looking to put together a ski trip committee for next season’s docket. This is your opportunity to offer your input on future destinations for the club. If you are interested, please contact me via e-mail at [email protected].

Thank you as always,

Snowman’s Tales

Hello to all our skiers,

Stay tuned for news on our upcoming Ski Kickoff Gala! Our Gala committee, headed up by the won-derful and talented Dorothy Rattey, is planning an unforgettable event that you will definitely not want to miss. At this time, I would like to take the oppor-tunity to thank those that were involved in securing a fabulous deal for this event on the membership’s behalf. It is important to me that YOU know. First, I would like to thank our President, Evie Houston, and our past VP of Ski, Walter Marussich, for working out a deal with Vail Resorts that will give the mem-bership back $2,000. That’s right—$2,000!!! You have been asking me why we have 4 Vail Resorts Trips (Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, New Park City, and Keystone) on our schedule this year. Well, Vail Resorts has promised to give $2,000 back to the club if we have 4 trips with a MINIMUM of 28 skiers per trip. We must bring at least 28 to each resort, so it is important to get the word out to any skier you know who is looking for a great trip at a great price to sign up for one of these trips, or the deal is off!

All 4 trips range from $1,455 to $1,759, and all trips include R/T Air, transfers, lodging, 5-Day Lift, and a party package! And better yet, if you sign up for more than one of these trips, you can buy the Epic Local Pass and save even MORE MONEY! Con-tract the Trip Leaders for more information.

Second, I would like to thank Mike & Sheri Agnew, our exclusive Sports America Ski Tour Operator for their donation. They will be donating $10 back to the Membership for every skier that goes skiing on the Vail Resorts trips! So the more that sign up, the more the Membership gets back! No minimum or maximum, let’s break their bank! This is a win/win for ALL! That’s what we call giving back!

As we are getting closer to our ski season I would like to update all of you on our ski program. As I mentioned in my July Article, do not procrastinate or you will be left behind, sign up while spots are still available. We got great airfare but will not be able to add more spots at these great prices. I have been asked a few times about a budget trip and when/if I will add one. Well, as soon as we get closer to ful-filling the 28 skiers per Vail Resorts trip, I will add a budget trip to our schedule.

Ski Trips From Your VP / Ski Trips, Abe Tessler

All of these plans are in the works as

this is being written.

allows you a day at Vail or one of the

other nearby ski areas is $1,737 pp.

Now Only $1,737 — A $150 Price Reduc-

tion!

Beaver Creek is a beautiful, upscale ski

destination with the aura of a premier

European resort. Everything is close at

hand from your lodging. The lovely vil-

lage, itself, is Tyrolean style and rather

quaint. Even the walkways are heated -

not exactly roughing it, is it?

With 1,832 skiable acres and a 3,340

foot vertical rise, it’s no wonder the ski-

ing elite flock to Beaver Creek each win-

ter. The mountain has 25 lifts and 150

different trails to make every trip down

the mountain an adventure. But what

really sets it apart from other mountains

is the amount of fresh powder you can

find in ski stashes all over the resort.

From the gentle, manicured slopes of

Bachelor Gulch, to the open intermedi-

ate trails of Larkspur and Rose Bowl, to

the steep bumps of Grouse Mountain,

skiers and riders of all abilities will feel at

home.

ICELAND, JULY 17 – 29, 2016 ICELAND...not just a destination, it’s an adventure in a stunning scen-

ery!!!! Join the Gators as they explore a small volcanic island located

between the Greenland Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean in the Artic.

Iceland is about the size of Kentucky with the average temperature in

July ranging from 51 degrees to 76 degrees. The gators will fly into the

capital, Reykjavik and have a phenomenal adventure exploring this

island from July 17 – 29, 2016. Approximately four-fifths of the country

is unpopulated and uninhabitable. Glaciers cover more of the land in

Iceland than in all of Europe. In addition to glaciers, the island has

lakes, mountains, a lava desert, lush green areas, and natural hot

springs, making Iceland a spectacle of nature. If this trip is on your

bucket list, do not miss the opportunity to sign up for this amazing trip.

52 Gators enjoyed a FUN filled Summer Getaway weekend with the Captain! WOW is the best word to describe

the event that started with a HH get together poolside with delicious food, plenty of cold beverages, Jell-O shots and

Gator friends. The evening went by quickly at the Sandbar dancing to the sounds of Bullet Theory. After the last Ga-

tor standing finally went to sleep, morning came by real quick with mimosas, pastries and egg sandwiches cooked by

Bill Lobb. The River King cruise had about 30 Gators aboard as they enjoyed the scenic tour of the river. Others en-

joyed paddle boarding and kayaking both days with only 1 minor injury occurring. A feast was had on hot dogs plus

yummy sides poolside for lunch, with plenty of more cold beverages. While some enjoyed relaxing poolside others

went to Mel Fischer’s Museum, some even decided to do a Pub Crawl at the various bars along the river. More

Fun!!!! Gators enjoyed dining Saturday night at the local seafood restaurants, then back to the Sandbar for more mu-

sic. They evening still rocked on with karaoke poolside, more Jell-O shots and cold beverages still flowing!!!!!! This

will be an event to remember, Gators partied with a purposed that was to have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!
