The Song of CommunityWe'll weave a love that greens sure as spring,Then deepens in summer to the fall autumn brings.Resting still in winter to spiral again,Together my friends we'll weave on, we'll weave on.

A love that heals friend, that bends friend,That rising and turning then yields friend, ike mountain to rain or frost in the springOr darkness the turns with the dawn. It's by turning, turning, turning my friend,By turning that love moves on.

We'll weave a love that opens our eyesTo see one another beyond all disguise,Where our trust like water will wash away lies,Together my friends we'll weave on, we'll weave on.

We'll weave a love that touches our pain,That comes like the water to drought-fevered plains,So that roots once withered sing praise to the rain,Together my friends we'll weave on, we'll weave on.

We'll weave a love that holds the despised,The stranger who wanders the focus of lies,We'll stand sure as mountains with Earth's victimised,Together my friends we'll weave on, we'll weave on.

We'll weave a love with roots growing deepAnd sap pushing branches to wake from their sleep,Bearing leaves burnt amber with mornings full sweep,Together my friends we'll weave on, we'll weave on.

What do we do well What do we not do well

and enjoy!! and yet enjoy!

What do we not enjoy What do we not do and do well well and we don’t enjoy either?

The ChallengeIf you know who you are…If you know your unique

manifestation in life…If you are in constant touch with

that…If you know you are good and

loveable…Then…you are not threatened by

me if I am different!

Page 6: Gather us O God Unify and set us free! Gather us O God May Your Spirit with us be!

Embracing DifferenceIf you know who you

are …then you have the

capacity to delight in my differences.

The more you delight in me the more I can go into fifteen billion years of energy and keep pulling out all kinds of treasures

If…You affirm me because of my different tastes from you I’ll

become a poet! I’ll become a musician: I’ll become a

computer analyst; I’ll become … ME!

Page 8: Gather us O God Unify and set us free! Gather us O God May Your Spirit with us be!

The more you affirm the more I’ll bring it

out. I will even become at your

rejoicing, capable of compassion and

mercy, gentleness and justice,

integrity and peace.You…

Bring out in me, you activate in meThe Deepest

Mysteries of the Universe.

That… is Love. (adapted from Thomas Berry)

Time to reflect on Transformation – Transformation is a messy matter.

The distance between an acorn and an oak, a caterpillar and a butterfly, a rally and a riot, a sinner and a saint…admits of many strange twists and turns.

The scenes are not always beautiful. The process is not always painless. In the midst of transformation we can only be assured of unknowing. The past offers no hope of return. The future offers no promise of arrival.

Attentiveness to the Journeybecomes the important activity but always in reference to the unknown.

We must, as the Peruvian Proverb indicates…

Create the Path…by Walking.

Transition Transformation

Real transformation takes time, and a renewal effort risks losing momentum if there are no short-term goals to meet and celebrate. Most people won't go on the long march unless they see compelling evidence within twelve to twenty-four months that the journey is producing expected results. Without short-term wins, too many people give up or actively join the ranks of those people who have been resisting change.

‘Nothing shall disturb you Nothing, frighten you.Patience obtains all things,in God you want for nothing. For God never changes,God alone is enough. For God never changes,God alone is enough.

The WordI will come to you and fulfil My gracious

promise...For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future,

Sharing of our symbols

A Psalm celebrating God’s Providence

It would have been enough if You had lifted us from nothingness into humanity, but You made us in Your own image. We thank

You.It would have been enough if You had made a simple covenant

limited to our life-time, but you wove the generations into one long benediction

We praise You.

It would have been enough if You had lead us out of slavery, but You continue to share our bondage until we are fully free.

We bless You.

It would have been enough if You had championed the cause of justice for all who are oppressed, but You heal the broken

hearted, and You bind up all our wounds,We need You.

It would have been enough if You had simply shared Your Vision through the prophets of the past, but You speak prophetic

words to us and through us, even now.We hear You

It would have been enough if You had sojourned briefly among us but You stayed with us and within us.

We live by Your holy Spirit and we rejoice and give thanksAmen
