Operation Christmas Child
Gathers Gifts
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, is encouraging volunteers to fill simple
shoe box gifts with toys, personal items, school supplies, candy and a note of encouragement. The
gifts are then hand-delivered to children worldwide who are suffering because of natural disaster,
disease, war, terrorism, famine and poverty.
You may deliver your shoeboxes during National Collection Week on November 14-21, 2016.

WAYS TO REACH YOUR COMMUNITY
FOR CHRIST
1. Do a demographic study of your community
and share the findings with your church.
2. Ask a local police officer to take your leaders
on a drive along tour of your community.
3. Invite local school leaders to talk with your
church about community needs they face
everyday.
4. Map the homes of your church members so
they see their Great Commission assignment.
5. Do community prayer surveys.
6. Lead members to develop a prayer list of non -
believers.
7. Send out your church members as witnesses
with a testimony.
8. Reach out to the nearest local college.

Fast Facts: High Gate Baptist Church is 133 years
old and has a long history of ministry in their community.
The new church first met in the Kinsey School and grew
steadily. The church today has an active children’s and
youth ministry. They enjoy times of vibrant worship and
congregational fellowship. Please pray for High Gate Church
to continue to connect with their community and the
community’s response to those connections. Also that they
continue to develop a strategic plan that continues to show
ways to ensure the church thrives in the future.

Ukraine is a country which has faced its fair share of oppression—political, emotional, vocational, and spiritual—you name it!
Even today, the country is at an en passe because of the pressures of Russia, pressures of the EU, and pressures within as it
grows into its own newfound freedoms.
By the grace of God, Gasconade Valley Baptist Association has a tremen-
dous opportunity to partner for the sake of the Gospel in this country that
could potentially serve as a springboard to reach Russia, Western Europe,
and the world for Jesus Christ. I had the opportunity this past September to
represent the Association and form relationships as we enter into a 3-year
pledge of financial and prayer support and I wanted to share a few thoughts
to encourage the Associational churches and pastors.
First, they Ukrainian Baptists are focused on reproduction, not size. Wheth-
er it is a church of 25 or 500, the focus is on making disciples who make
disciples. I am excited about this because it leads to my second observation,
a focus on quality over quantity. Their main focus is on relational and inten-
tional evangelism and every ministry is done well. A third observation is
that their bible knowledge and hunger for truth is at a level I have never observed in the State. I believe God uses this hunger
to accomplish great things through His people. Fourthly, the seminary is approaching church growth with their planters with
biblical accountability. There is strong encouragement to grow at a healthy rate versus a rate which exceeds the maturity or
capacity of any given minister.
I believe if we implemented these four observations—even in part—in the churches in our association, then God would be
glorified and our churches would benefit. There is a great perspective change that results when we observe different cultures
across the world worshipping and serving the One True God and same God we worship and serve her in rural Missouri. My
prayer is that as we hear reports of the work in Ukraine that our own ministry in Missouri would not become burdensome or
seemingly meaningless. Rather, there are many lost souls. There are many who’ve left the church. There are those who only
need a loving invitation back into relationship with Christ and their life, once again, could be abundant. It is my prayer that
as this partnership matures, the mutual vision could be shared, believed, lived, and experienced—to God’s glory and our
good.
One experience which really touched me was a Baptism service at a church which meets at the seminary building and pas-
tored by Elisey Pronin. In Ukraine, those who are baptized go through a 1 to 2 year period of instruction. Following this, they
are baptized. We were able to witness the very first baptism service. At the start, Slavik Pyzh, the seminary president, joking-
ly asked if anyone else wanted to get baptized since the water and pool was ready. No one came forward.
Following the baptism of the six or so candidates—young and old—a
lady came forward and expressed her desire to get baptized. It was
touching and even more so because she was hesitant because of the
persecution she was facing from within her own family. Observing the
obedient believers get baptized though served as encouragement for
her in her own walk with Christ. Isn’t that neat? Our obedience to
Christ serves as a springboard for those who may be less courageous or
who are facing more (or different) kinds of hardships and persecutions.

White Elephant Gift Exchange ($5.00 limit)
A huge shout out to all who invested their time,
energy, abilities, and spiritual gifts in the various
camp ministries this year. Your sacrifices have and
will bear fruit in the lives of those who attended the
camps and retreats. God bless you for your commit-
ment and faithfulness!
As camp closes for 2016, the association needs to
begin praying for God to provide leaders for the 2017
camp events. Is God calling you to join Him as He
works at Gasconade Valley Camp?
Pastors mark your calendar. Our next Pastors Roundtable
will be held November 10. Our meeting will be held at
First Baptist Church, Linn. We will begin with a meal at
6:30 p.m.
Our Pastor’s Roundtables are times for a discussion on
theological and doctrinal issues facing the church today.
We will explore the topic of Heaven during this meeting.
