The Gas Permeable Cover Seal isa breathable sealing cover inno-

vation by Simrit, achieving cover, pressure relief, venting and bleed-ing functions in a single compo-nent. It thus offers functional safe-ty and component reduction inone.

    To exceed technology limits, thinking

differently is the best path at times. A

permeable cover seal? If controlled, this

does not need to be a contradiction. For

example in the Gas Permeable Cover

Seal by Simrit. This innovative cover

seal is equipped with state-of-the-art non-

    woven material technology enabling suffi-

cient venting and bleeding of the transmis-

sion while also sealing against oil and

    splashed water. Benefit: The temperature-

dependent pressure increase of up to 0.5

bar in transmissions which is often re-

sponsible for shaft seal and cover over-

load is relieved early onwith the breathable

    cover seal. This

    does not even

    require the in-

    stallation of any

    separate venting

    valves.

    Gas Permeable Cover Seal

Fresh air for your transmission efficiency

This significantly increases the servicelife of shaft seals in the transmission,

    benefiting the systems operational safety

    while also simplifying transmission con-

struction, since bores, threads and valves

    for pressure relief become unnecessary.

Hydro and oleophobic non-woven material technologymakes the differenceThe self-developed special non-woven ma-

terial is the actual core of the Permeable

Cover Seal. It is air-permeable, while also

being tight against water and oil due to

its special treatment. The non-woven mate-

    rial ensures pressure compensation and

    prevents splashing water from entering

and oil or lubricants from escaping due to

    its hydrophobic and oleophobic charac-

teristics. Transmissions of all types are

    always operated at ambient pressure

    even under extreme temperature fluctua-

tions from degrees far below zero to

    approx. 120 C (and short-term tempera-tures of 150 C).

    Exceeding limits of highpressure

    Reliable sealing and pressure

management are two of the basics

for high performance fluid and drivetechnology units. Wherever high

    system pressures and pressure peaks

    occur, Simrit offers sealing elements

    with exemplary recovery properties,

    transverse force absorption even in

    extreme weather conditions. Thinking

one step further, Simrit now makes

use of occurring system pressures to

equip its sealing solutions with inno-

    vative additional functions such as

pressure relief. For you, this not only

    enables valuable savings potentials

    from component reduction to smaller

    installation spaces but also weight

    reduction and simplification of con-

    struction.

    EXCEEDING LIMITS Only he who

is willing to continue questioning the

technical status quo and to exceed

limits will drive innovation. As a

    globally leading sealing specialist,

we use our entire know-how andexperience to this end every single

day as we have been since 1929.

    Come with us.

The Gas Permeable Cover Seal is equipped with state-of-the-art non-woven material

technology enabling sufficient venting and bleeding of the transmission.

    Long Life Diaphragm

Up to three times longer service life

New performance limits forpumps and other units: With thenew Long Life Diaphragm bySimrit, system service lives canbe expanded up to threefold.

A decisive step in reduction oflife-cycle costs.

The continually rising requirements to ser-

vice life and system efficiency of pumps,

valves and fittings, as well as in building

    technology and system engineering,

require a new approach in particular

regarding the design of diaphragms asan important component in these systems.

    Simrit used thermoplastic polyurethane

(TPU) to develop a new generation of

diaphragms that is clearly superior to the

    previous diaphragm materials NBR and

RPDM with respect to tear resistance, elas-

    ticity, abrasion resistance and alternate

bending resilience. Unit service lives can

be extended by up to three times with

the Long Life Diaphragm as compared

to those using NBR components. TPU ma-

terial selection, design and processingknow-how collected over decades form

the foundation for the successful use of

    this material. Depending on application

case, Simrit offers pure TPU diaphragms

as well as composite diaphragms. They

can be designed to each customers needs

using PTFE foil, fabric, plastic and metal

inserts and produced in large batches.

    Development process of TPU seals

    Polyurethane is based

    on diisocyanates,

    polyoles and chain

    extenders as basic

    components. The granulate is melted

in the injection-castingprocess to achieve finished

    products, such as the Long

    Life Diaphragm.

    TPU-granulate results from a chemical

reaction of the basic materials and

addition of special additives such ascolour pigments.

The Long Life Diaphragm is clearly superior to NBR diaphragms

regarding tear resistance and maximum elongation.

    Merkel Compact Seal T 44

    Safety even at 250 MPa

Based on the proven T 42, theMerkel Compact Seal T 44 pro-

vides reliable sealing functioneven at peak pressures of up to250 MPa.

    Exceeding pressure limits with the

Merkel Compact Seal T 44, we will take

you to a new dimension in sealing against

high work pressures. Previously, an addi-

tional back-up ring was only able to seal

against peak pressures of up to 150 MPa.Now, the T 44 Compact Seal, able to

    seal bilaterally pressurised pistons for

    management of peak pressures amount-

ing to 250 MPa, constitutes a wholly new

    performance class.

The T 44 Compact Seal manages peak pressures of up to 250 MPa

    when sealing bilaterally pressurised pistons.

    Premium Pressure Seal PPS

Innovative design against high pressures and wear

The build of the Simmerring PPS(Premium Pressure Seal) makeshigh pressures manageable andclearly differentiates from con-

ventional pressure-loaded radialshaft seals with its significantlyreduced friction torque andlower wear.

One Simmerring for all cases that require

high pressures: With its pressure resis-

tance of up to 10 bar in dynamic appli-

cations and 100 bar bursting strength,

the Simmerring PPS covers a comprehen-sive application range in hydro motors,

drives and pumps, as well as retarders.

    Accordingly, Simrits customer-specific

    product range comprises approx.

100 dimensions between 20 mm and

400 mm to cover a great number of

    many different application cases.

Development of more sizes is possible

    easily depending on demand.

    Low friction torque for low-wear

    operation

In addition to its high pressure resistance,

the enormous wear reduction of the

Simmerring PPS is certainly the most im-

pressive novelty in the world of pressure-

loaded radial shaft seals. With our pat-

ented innovative sealing edge design, thefriction torque under operating pressure is

reduced so clearly that the Simmerring

PPS only shows minimum wear. This multi-

plies sealing service life and thus your

    units functional safety. Thermal resilience

at a sealing edge temperature of up to

160 C depending on lubricant used is

another valuable effect of this innovative

    sealing concept using high-quality materi-

    als.

New application optionsT 44 is used in shield main cylinders used

for face support in mining. With its high

pressure performance in retention of max-

imum pressures, the seal is suitable even

    for use at great depths.

With its symmetric design, the compact

sealing element offers the best operation-

al safety and quick, simple assembly

without any additional back-up ring. The

angle bushes also permit bridging large

    gaps, benefiting in particular reworked

    cylinders. Great extrusion resistance and

    high abrasion resistance sensibly comple-

ment the high performance of this doubly-

    acting compact piston seal.

The Simmerring PPS offers pressure resistance

of up to 10 bar in dynamic applications.

    2-K Venting Cap

    Maintenance-free venting of heating systems

A good connection: The Simrit2-component bleed cap madeof polyamide with silicone dia-phragm now ensures mainte-nance-free air diffusion of heat-ers with a single component.

    Continuous functional safety and eco-

    nomic operation were the prerequisites

for the development of a new heating

    system bleeding component. With the

    2-component solution made of polybuty-

    lentherephtalate (PBT) and silicone, Simrit

not only met these requirements, but

also introduced a new technology on the

    market.

Bleed caps serve independent diffusion ofair from closed systems. This ensures the

required venting of heaters in building

    technology. Previous multi-part compo-

nents consist of various metal parts and a

    pressed-in cellulose membrane. The main

weakness, in addition to the complicated

design, was the cellulose insert that does

not ensure permanent venting while also

    being particularly expensive.

All benefits in a singlecomponentUsing silicone, Simrit was able to develop

a diaphragm with a gas permeability

exceeding that of natural rubber 100

times. Water reliably remains inside the

system while air can diffuse continuously.

The silicone diaphragm is connected to

the thermoplastic, a material highly suit-

able for applications in water, perfectly

tightly and cohesively. The 2-componentsolution is characterised by its extremely

tight fit while also offering excellent me-

dia resistance in temperature ranges of up

to 80 C. This is an important prerequisite

for continual functional safety. Use of

silicone and plastic materials also offers

    designers great design freedom, which

    additionally simplifies component design.

The 2-K bleed cap a component solution made of polybutylentherephtalate

(PBT) and silicone now warrants maintenance-free air diffusion in heaters.
