DriveabilityA wide entry step at low heightgreatly improves entry/exit onboth sides of the truck. The V-contoured engine coverallows the operator to easilyglide into the truck’s seat. The curved posts of theoverhead guard open up theentry/exit window and provide acomfortable grip location for avariety of operator heights.

Further facilitating entry/exit is aspring-loaded, tilt steeringcolumn that easily moves upand away. The spacious floorboard is uncluttered andincludes a webbed floor matthat insulates the operator fromvibration and heat. Additional operator comfort isachieved through reducedinching and brake pedal effortsalong with a lower pedal heightoff the floor.

Crown’s Intrinsic StabilitySystem achieves improvedoperator confidence through aproactive approach to safetyand stability. Integrated into thetruck's components and controlsystem, Crown’s IntrinsicStability System includes thefollowing features:

The C-5 features excellentvisibility everywhere you look: a low front dash board for forkand carriage visibility, a highvisibility mast, a compactsteering column, a sculptedfloorboard design, an overheadguard top plate and barconfiguration and a low LPGbottle height.

The control handles are craftedinto the compartment anddesigned to provide tactilefeedback for easy selection.Actuation forces are minimaland responsive. The switchoperated parking brake withtone alert enhances operatorentry/exit and naturallyencourages its use. A large convex horn button ishoused in the center of thesteering wheel. Isolation systemsfor the engine and the operatorcell virtually eliminate all vibrationsto the operator. Hot air isdirected away from the operatorby a large counterweightopening with a wedge deflector.

PowertrainDerived from a diesel engine,the C-5 Series features anindustrial in-line 4 cylinder 2.4Lemissions compliant LPG enginewith unregulared catalyticconverter as standard.Optionally available is a specific3-way catalytic converterdesigned to reduce carbonmonoxide, hydrocarbons andoxides of nitrogen.

The heavy duty industrial engineincludes a heat resistant castiron block and head. The 7.6liter oil capacity and standardengine oil cooler offer additionalcooling for improved thermalcapacity and extendedcomponent life. A gear-driven valve train andauxiliary pump eliminates belt orchain adjustments. Operatorcomfort is further increasedthrough internal balancing of theengine.The Carraro TA135 single speedhydrodynamic power shifttransmission offers an optimisedgear construction for low noiseand vibrations and increasedefficiency. The robust design ofthe Carraro transmission includesforged gears and drive shaft,ductile iron axle, differentialsupport housings and high

temperature seals and o-rings,all contributing to increased lifeand durability.

CoolingA standard Dual Open-CoreRadiator offers separate coolingfor the engine and transmissionand is isolated from the truck,separating it from impact andimproving radiator life. The opencore feature offers large spacingbetween cooling fins forreduced clogging. Air flow ismaximised by a ten-blade fanthat increases radiatorperformance and efficiency. The full fan shroud surroundsthe radiator core surface. Itstwo-piece design aids inserviceability and is sealed toprevent air flow from bypassingthe radiator core. Air flow isfurther maximised by thecustom venturi design thatdirects air over the entiresurface of the radiator. Crown’soptional On-Demand CoolingSystem delivers precise coolingand radiator clearing foreconomical savings and uptimein harsh environment applications.Precise cooling is achievedthrough an independent radiatorfan that automatically adjusts itsspeed to manage engine andtransmission temperatures. Theindependent fan also allows foroptimal radiator clearing byreversing its direction at enginestart.

Power BrakeThe Crown Power Brake is aunique hydraulic powered, fullcircle brake with few parts andlarger friction areas thatcontribute to longer brake life.This design reduces operatorpedal effort, improves brakeresponsiveness and featuresdirect and easy access to thefriction pad, which reducesdowntime for brake maintenance.The parking brake is an integralpart of the service brake and isactivated by a one-touch pushbutton located on the dashboardto the right of the steer wheelcolumn. An audible alarmreminder is standard.

Hydraulics The C-5 Series premiumhydraulic function control valveprovides a precise metering oflift, tilt and accessory functions .Operator stress is reducedthrough minimal hydraulic leveractuation.

Crown’s lift/tilt interlock systemprovides extended forward tilt atlow fork heights and reducedforward tilt at elevated heightsfor improved truck stability. Theinterlock system also inhibitsaccidental hydraulic functionswhen the operator is out of theseat. The tilt compensatormaintains proper tilt speedcontrol under all load conditions.

Maximum lowering speed is limited by a pressurecompensating flow control valveand velocity fuses. Integratedhydraulic cylinder cushionssoften mast staging. All liftcylinder rams are plated andwhen the forks are lowered,retract into the hydraulic oil foradditional corrosion protection.

The steel oil reservoir is integralto the frame, aiding in thedissipation of hydraulic oil heat.This clean, leak-free designincludes a suction strainer withseparate, easily accessible fillport and dipstick with a dualfiltered breather. Hydraulic oil isreturned through an environ -mentally friendly cartridge filter,which is easily serviced.

A 2-stage filtration system onthe breather/dipstick offerssuperior protection fromcontamination to the hydraulicoil and from oil misting, whichcould create a dirty residue onthe inside of the enginecompartment.The steering and power brakesystems are also hydraulicpowered, assisting in thereduction of operator fatigueand improved productivity.

Mast AssemblyThe heavy-duty mast of the C-5 Series is engineered toprovide smooth, reliableoperation without compromisingstrength or quality. The large,rugged mast trunnions aremounted on the drive axle.Securing the mast are extraheavy tilt cylinders with self-aligning bushings. Crown’s highvisibility mast features a nested-rail design with lift cylinderspositioned behind the rails.

Inline hose routing also reducesvisual interference. Largehydraulic hose pulleys and hoseplacement are engineered toreduce hose wear and increasehose life. Large lift chains areused for long reliable service life.

CarriageA FEM / ISO / ITA Class II Acarriage is standard on C-5 2.0and C-5 2.5 model range, a FEM / ISO / ITA Class III Acarriage is standard on C-5 3.0models. An optional hook-on type ISO sideshifter or otherattachments are easy to add.

SteeringA fully hydrostatic steeringsystem with equal area anddouble-acting cylinder providesan equally responsive steeringrate both ways (4.8 turns lock tolock). The rugged axle frame,forged spindle and connectinglinks eliminate the need foradjustment. A two-piece spindleand kingpin with tapered rollerbearings improves life andserviceability. Spherical bearingswith straight pins in the connec -ting links eliminate any play inthe linkage. All bearing locationsare sealed to excludecontaminants and are equippedwith lubrication fittings for easeof service.The steer axlearticulates in a rubber isolationbushing to improve truckhandling and ride.

Electrical SystemThe C-5 Series comes with astandard wet cell battery. Anoptional severy duty wet cellprovides 450 cold cranking amps.Exclusive on-board informationand diagnostics system includesfully integrated Access 1 2 3®

Comprehensive System Controlwith CAN Bus communication.Features include:
