the period 8/87-12/88. Only 6 awards were granted in the U.S. Mehrdad Shahnam was awarded the George Weaver Award for the Outstanding

Teacher in Mechanics, 1989. MAE 280 undergraduate student Ms. Judith Fain won the third place award for the

presentation of her research paper under my direction at the Mid-Atlantic AIAA Conference at the University of Maryland in Spring 1989.

James L. Spenik was awarded a doctoral fellowship from USDOE/EPSCOR

in 1992. Marshalla Wright was awarded a doctoral fellowship from USDOE/EPSCOR in

IV. Administrative Assignments. Export Control Officer 8/2012-present (37.5% FTE in ’12, 75% FTE in ‘13)

-Manage all export control related functions for the university. -Provided deemed export attestations for individuals applying for and renewing H-1B, J-1, and O-1A visa applications. -Review research grants and contract statements of work for export control related issues. -Draft and approve export control plans to manage grants and contract statements of work which contain export controlled technology. -Approve international travel from an export control prospective for WVU faculty and staff. -Educate and train faculty and staff about export control related matters in an academic environment.
