UK Perspective on C-ITS Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV)

UK research on connected and autonomous vehicles is effective, targeted at

delivering value for the UK, and coordinated.

the UK remains one of the best places in the world to develop and use

connected and autonomous vehicles.

connected and autonomous vehicles in the UK are secure by design and

UK Perspective on C-ITS UK Government aims for C-ITS

Connected and autonomous vehicles incorporate a range of different technologies,

facilitating the safe, efficient movement of people and goods.

Increased connectivity allows vehicles to communicate with their surrounding

environment. This provides valuable information to the driver about road, traffic and

weather conditions.

UK Perspective on C-ITS Hybrid C-ITS services roll out

Alongside established ITS-

G5 technology it is

important to examine the

benefits that cellular

communications can offer.

The professional view

appears to be that CAV

technology will move more

towards Hybrid

communications as it

progresses.

Testing the capabilities

now is essential to

develop interoperable

specifications and

standards.

UK Perspective on C-ITS View on UK Hybrid Communications TESTFEST

The intention is to use the A2/M2

Connected vehicle Corridor to

demonstrate the potential of hybrid

communications.

This is dependent on the delivery of both

infrastructure and back office systems by

the partnership between Department for

Transport, Highways England, Kent

County Council and Transport for London.

Initial planning of the Hybrid

Communications TESTFEST is underway

with the full scope and objectives to be

agreed by all InterCor partners.
