WHAT IS ULTRACANE
An intelligent tool for blind with AI techniques
The Ultracane is a new electronic mobility aid for visually-impaired people
The ultra cane used to be known as the “Bat cane”
because bats navigate in total darkness using “echolation”.
PRINCIPLE
Ultrasonic sensors transmit ultrasonic waves from its sensor head and again receives the ultrasonic waves reflected from an object.
By measuring the length of time from the transmission to reception of the sonic wave, it detects the position of the object
WORKING
UltraCane consists of a special handle containing an ultrasound radar system to detect objects and obstacles
The handle features a hand-grip with two yellow feedback buttons on the upper surface
UltraCane is switched on, the two buttons
will vibrate as obstacles are detected.
The button nearest the front of the handle will vibrate when obstacles are detected by the sensor facing forwards
button nearest the back of the handle will vibrate when obstacles are detected by the sensor facing upwards. The vibration rate of the buttons increases as you move closer to obstacles.
Brain works at a subconscious level and accepts information from the three main senses - sight, hearing and touch.
For someone with vision impairment, the brain has two sources of information available to it: hearing and touch.
So they can building up a spatial map and becoming aware of your surroundings and any dangers

RANGE SELECTION
The switch has three positions: Off, On (for short range) On (for long range)

It will detect obstacles within approximately 4 metres / 13 feet in the forward direction
For Long Range

It is suitable for both left and right handed peopleIt is a good cane technique with the cane hand centred with the wrist as the primary pivot point.
The sensors will then face correctly upwards and forwards
they feel objects in their environment through the cane's vibrations
ADVANTAGES
carbon graphite collapsible cane is reflective and lightweight
easy to use, just switch it on and go works on two rechargeable AA batteries,
so its running costs are low Switchable between “near” or “far”
settings, so the Ultra Cane can detect objects 2m or 4m away to suit the environment you are in.
LIMITATIONS
The UltraCane will not detect objects within 30 cm / 12 inches of the sensors.
It is not possible for the UltraCane to detect drops in ground level
Heavy rain will stop your UltraCane from working properly and should be avoided.
CONCLUSION
It’s a revolution towards the blindness Very few people are aware of this cane
and the real pride comes when every blind person is benefited from this.
The main idea behind this paper is to contribute our service to the blind society and helping them with the little knowledge that we have.
