PBL stands for Project Based Learning, this concept is unique to New Tech schools across america. Project Based Learning ( PBL ) is a great way for students to learn how to, use time wisely, work towards a common goal, exercise leadership skills, and learn how to use their resources to help them succeed .

HOW DOES PBL WORK ?PBL works in a 5 step process.

1). Entry Document

An entry document is the reading that students do before starting their project, it has information that will help guide the students.

2). ’K’ Need To Know List

A Know list is a list of all of the things we know about our project, based on the information given to us by the Entry Document.

3). ‘NTK’ Need To Know List

A Need To Know List is a list of information not given to us by the Entry Document, but is needed to make our project successful.

4). Problem Statement

A Problem Statement is a statement with the guidelines ‘ How Can We As...’ ‘Do/Create....’ ‘So That...’ .

5). Next Steps

Next Steps is basicly an area to figure out a plan to do your project .

The PBL Process

Basic PrinciplesAt YNT we have 3 basic principles

1) Trust.

At YNT we try to create a trust worthy community. Not only to trust people with personal objects, or discussions, but a trust that in a working community we can rely on each other to do their part , and encourage others to work their hardest to reach their full potential.

2). Respect.

Respect is a huge deal here at YNT it is almost impossible to have a group of individuals work together in a productive manner WITHOUT respect.

3). Responsibility.

You have to be responsible to be successful at YNT , mostly all of the work done at YNT is independent work, or work with other students.

21st Century SkillsAt YNT we have nine 21st century skills , here are four of them .

1). Collaboration.

Collaboration is how well you work with others to achieve a common goal, which happens allot at YNT.

2). Work Ethic.

Positive attitude, Good social skills, and dedication is necessary to have a good work ethic, YNT focuses on a strong work ethic.

3). Personal Capacity.

Personal Capacity is another way to say Character . Personal capacity reflects on how you act, speak , and handle yourself, not just in a professional setting , but in a casual setting also.

4). Technology Usage.

At YNT we use Technology and a daily basis, even if its just to check our grades, technology is becoming more and more common in not only in homes but in work places too.
