The South Carolina Gamecocksfootball team represents theUniversity of South Carolina. Theycompete in the Eastern Division of theSoutheastern Conference (SEC). SteveSpurrier is the current head coach,and the team plays its home games atWilliams‐Brice Stadium, also knownas "The Cockpit". Currently, it is the20th largest stadium in collegefootball.The Carolina‐Clemson Rivalry is thelargest sporting event in the state ofSouth Carolina. Since 1960, the gamehas alternated between both teams'home stadiums and has becomeknown as the "Palmetto Bowl." SouthCarolina's "border rivalry" withGeorgia dates back to 1894.
