If your family is the most important thingin your life, then your life’s purpose may be raising your children. The pastthree days you’ve been reflecting upon how you occupy your time, what youreally enjoy doing, and what you value most in life. With these thoughts inmind, you should be able to identify your purpose at this time in your life.

THE “RIGHT CONNECTIONS” CAN HELP YOU GET AHEAD.

GOAL: My life’s purpose at this time is:

Your life’s purpose does not have to stay the same forever. For most people,it changes throughout life, so you have to continually go back to the drawingboard. You may have a job that you love and that fills all of your time. Yourkids eventually grow up and leave home. You may have grandchildren thatyou want to take care of. Things change. We all change. Just make sure thatyour purpose fulfills your values, the activities that you love to do, and yourdreams!

METAMORPHOSES…

GOAL: What was your life’s purpose five years ago?

Ten years ago?

DAY 10 SAFETY

Have a presentable appearance. What you look like affects your compa-ny...and you. That doesn’t mean that you have to buy expensive clothes. Itmeans that you have to be neat; your clothes clean; your shoes polished, and your general appearance…presentable.

GOAL: Have a presentable appearance while you drive.

Good for you! You’ve explored a lot about yourself. It isn’t easy to makechanges. Just like learning to play a sport, you can’t expect to change yourattitude all at once. Pat yourself on the back, and look at the positive thingsabout your attitude. What positive things do other people say about you?Everyone has a positive side. Focus on those things, and make them largerin your mind.

SUNNY-SIDE UP!

GOAL: What positive things have other people said about you?

DAY 11 SAFETY

Back to Basic Back Care…Size up the load. Make sure your path of travelis clear. Stand with your feet close to the object. Center yourself over theobject. Bend your knees and get a good grip. Lift with your legs. Straightenyour knees as you lift the object. Keep the object close to your body. Don’ttwist or turn your torso while carrying the object. Bend your knees to lowerthe object.

DON’T GET WAISTED!

GOAL: Lift with your legs, not your back.

TAKE A “GOOD” LOOK...

GOAL: Look for random acts of kindness today. Show your apprecia-tion towards those you observe.

DAY 12 SAFETY

Don’t even think of asking your company to overlook a single hours-of-serv-ice violation. It would be asking them to compromise the value they haveplaced on your life. It isn’t worth it!

In order to have a good attitude and to be happy, it is important to avoid asmany negative situations as possible. Sometimes that is impossible to do.For instance, if you have a nagging mother-in-law, but you love yourspouse, you can’t always stay away from your mother-in-law. On the otherhand, there are many times that you can avoid negative situations. Beaware of the negative situations that are within your power to control. These are the ones that you can and should avoid.

GOAL: Think about the negative situations that make you feel pow-erless.

GOAL: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

DAY 15 SAFETY

Face the facts! You only get one pair of eyes. Any injuries that occur nearthe eyes should be considered serious. Be aware that even a minor injurycan become serious if left untreated. Make sure that you see a doctor withany injury in or close to your eyes.

DAY 16 ATTITUDE AND HAPPINESS

Life can be a tragedy…or a comedy. Your choice! Think of a recent situationthat was very upsetting to you. Not something disastrous, just somethingreally annoying or bothersome. Now, pretend that it is two months from now,and you are sitting with your co-workers, telling them this hilarious taleabout that specific situation. Most of the unpleasant incidents in our lifehave a very short shelf-life. They may seem large and stressful at themoment, but if you think about how you’ll feel about that situation nextmonth, next week, or even tomorrow, it’s easier to put things into perspec-tive. You may even find that you can laugh about it!

SHED A LITTLE “LIGHT” ON THE INCIDENT.

GOAL: Write down a particular situation that bothered you recently.

Pretend that it is six months from now. Relay that same bothersomesituation in a humorous way. Try to make it as funny as possible.

DAY 16 SAFETY

Be cautious when you see someone riding a bicycle. Bicyclists ride withtheir backs to the traffic and their clothing may limit their vision. They oftendo not have mirrors so they can’t always check to see what is around them. And if it is raining, they may be more concerned about getting wet thannoticing the traffic.

REMEMBER, THEY ARE NOT ALL LANCE ARMSTRONGS!

GOAL: Don’t assume that bicyclists are paying attention to you.

If you are angry with someone, it eats away atyou, and if you blame others…judge others, it only causes you unhappi-ness. Your attitude will change if you stop judging others. Without forgive-ness, happiness cannot exist.

LET GO OF IT!

GOAL: Start today by forgiving yourself. Then think of one personwhom you have judged, and STOP judging him/her.

DAY 17 SAFETY

Even a bus can skid. When a vehicle skids, it is out of control. Most of thetime a bus skids because rain, ice or snow has made the road slippery. Most skids also occur because the driver has increased speed or becausehe/she changed direction. Adjust your speed to conditions. Watch for curvesand slow down. Maintain enough following distance so you will not have tostop quickly. And DO NOT DRIVE TOO FAST.

NO (s)KIDDING!

GOAL: Prevent skidding by following the suggestions above.

DAY 18 ATTITUDE AND HAPPINESS

Remember what we said on DAY 1? Everyone wants to have a positiveattitude towards life… and to be happy. This isn’t always such an easy task, but it is definitely one of the most rewarding! You will find that everythingaround you improves when your attitude changes. Don’t give up. Someoneonce said to Thomas Edison, “You tried this invention over 3,000 times, (Hewanted to light the world!) and you haven’t succeeded. Isn’t it time to giveup?” He replied, “No! That’s 3,000 new things I’ve learned, so I am a lotcloser to my goal!” He eventually invented the light bulb. Your life is a jour-ney. Only YOU can make YOU be happy, and only YOU can make YOU theperson you want to be.

EQUIPPED FOR THE TRIP?

GOAL: Persist at change. And persist…and persist. Is there some-thing that YOU should be a little more persistent about? Somethingthat, if you persisted in doing, your life would be enhanced?

DAY 18 SAFETY

Be aware of hazards along the road that could interfere with your driving.Safety Hazards can be objects like tires, trash, or anything else that canaffect your driving. Sharp curves can be hazardous. Pot holes and construction zones can be hazardous as well.

LITTER HAZARDS CAN BE BIG PROBLEMS.
