Facilities and Opportunities
Restrooms – Pit toilets are available
at the boat launch site on Burgess
Lake and at the Haymarsh
Campground.
Trails – No self-guided trails. Trails
consist of two tracks remaining when
the area was closed to vehicles.
Camping – Summer and Fall at
Haymarsh Campground. Between
Oct. 1 and April 1st, camping will be
allowed on the remainder of the ar-
ea with the posting of a camp regis-
tration permit (available at no charge
at DNR Service Centers).
Boat Ramp – There are several
gravel launch ramps and one con-
crete ramp.
Fishing – No size limit on northern
pike on Haymarsh Lake.
Hunting – Area is open to hunting
and camping is allowed with Camp
Registration Permit after October 1.

tubing down the majestic Muskegon River, a
colorful, fall stroll along the Big Rapids River-
walk - with access for all or how about a scenic
snowmobile ride on the White Pine Trail of-
fering nature at its finest. Don’t miss fishing in
one of our numerous streams, rivers and over
100 lakes. Hunting is also abundant with our
14,000 acres of state land and private game are-
as.

brochures and fliers to cover the numerous at-
tractions, activities, facilities and services availa-
ble in our area.

Visitors come from all over the
United States to experience hunt-
ing, fishing, camping and to simp-
ly relax with family and friends on
this popular state land. The Hay-
marsh offers fishing enjoyment no
matter what your age or skill level.
Bluegill, Bass, Trout, Walleye, and
Northern Pike are among the many
species that thrive here. Lets not
forget the other wildlife such as,
Deer, Squirrels, Rabbits, and Tur-
keys.
There is plenty of ice fishing op-
portunities for the angling enthusi-
asts. Take advantage of Michi-
gan’s Free Fishing weekend’s in
June and February for residents
and out-of-state visitors.
The fee is $13.00 a night. It is an on-your-honor system where you put your money in the fee pipe during your stay. The park is a first-come, first-serve park, no res-ervations. No entrance fees are re-quired

No ATVs without proper State li-
cense and permission from the
DNR.

to Haymarsh with bundles of wood
