CARDINALS & RAMS IN 2012

A REVAMPED LINEUP Throughout the entire 53-man roster, change is the main theme as the Cardinals begin the 2013 regular season. That fact is emphasized in the difference between the regular starting lineups during the 2012 season and the projected starters for this week’s opener in St. Louis.

Of the 22 projected starters heading into this week’s regular season opener against the Rams, 14 were not starters for the Cardinals in 2012. Nine of those 14 were not on Arizona’s roster last season. 2012 Offense 2013 Projected LT: D’Anthony Batiste LT: Levi BrownLG: Daryn Colledge LG: Daryn Colledge C: Lyle Sendlein C: Lyle Sendlein RG: Adam Snyder RG: Paul FanaikaRT: Bobby Massie RT: Eric Winston TE: Jeff King TE: Jim Dray WR: Larry Fitzgerald WR: Larry Fitzgerald WR: Andre Roberts WR: Michael FloydQB: John Skelton QB: Carson PalmerRB: Beanie Wells RB: Rashard MendenhallFB: Anthony Sherman TE: Rob Housler2012 Defense 2013 Projected DE: Calais Campbell DE: Calais Campbell NT: Dan Williams NT: Dan Williams DT: Darnell Dockett DT: Darnell Dockett ROLB: Sam Acho SAM: Sam Acho ILB: Paris Lenon ILB: Jasper BrinkleyILB: Daryl Washington ILB: Karlos Dansby LOLB: Quentin Groves WILL: Lorenzo AlexanderCB: Patrick Peterson CB: Patrick Peterson CB: William Gay CB: Jerraud PowersSS: Adrian Wilson SS: Yeremiah BellFS: Kerry Rhodes FS: Rashad Johnson

CARDINALS & RAMS IN 2012Rams 17, CARDINALS 3

October 4, 2012 – Edward Jones Dome (54,653) Off to their best start since 1974, the 4-0 Cardinals headed to St. Louis on a short week for a Thursday night showdown with the 2-2 Rams. Arizona had won 7 straight at the Edward Jones Dome but would not find a way to record #8. A strong St. Louis defensive effort kept Arizona from getting on track offensively, sacking QB Kevin Kolb 9 times and limiting the Cards to 45 rushing yards on 17 attempts. Arizona’s defense was also tough and allowed just 242 total net yards while forcing Sam Bradford into one of his least efficient career games. The 3rd year QB completed 7 of 21 passes and at one point went 12 straight attempts without a completion. However, two big Bradford throws – one in the 1st quarter and another in the 4th - were most damaging and led to 14 Rams points. Bradford completed three of his seven passes on the game’s opening drive. On the first snap of the night he threw a 14-yarder to Brandon Gibson and followed it with a 44-yard Danny Amendola completion to the 11. Three plays later on 3rd-n-goal from the 7, Bradford found TE Lance Kendricks in the end zone to put St. Louis up 7-0. Arizona responded with a 17-play drive that reached the STL17 but had to settle for a 35-yard Jay Feely FG that made it 7-3. On the drive, Ryan Williams ran 5 times for 17 yards, Kolb was 7-8 passing for 30 yards and the Cards converted three key 3rd downs. Those would be two of the most productive drives of the game for either team who combined for 14 punts the rest of the way (7 per side). The Rams increased their lead to 10-3 early in the 2nd on a 53-yard FG from rookie Greg Zuerlein after starting the drive at midfield. Later in the quarter, Arizona reached the STL22 but came away empty when Feely was wide left from 40 yards, his first miss after hitting 19 in a row. The Rams carried that 10-3 lead into the locker room at halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter. The Rams had the best chance when they reached the AZ16 after gaining 52 yards on 7 rushes but on a 3rd-n-6 play from there, Patrick Peterson picked off a Bradford pass in the end zone to kill the threat. The Cards remained within a TD until 11:49 was left in the game. Facing a 3rd-n-11 at his own 49, Bradford hit Chris Givens on a deep pass down the left sideline for a 51-yard TD. Arizona threatened on the next series, advancing deep into St. Louis territory. However, the Cards turned it over on downs when they couldn’t convert on 4th-n-goal from the 6. The next AZ drive ended similarly when Kolb was sacked on a 4th-n-1 play from the STL13 with just over 2 minutes left, effectively putting an end to the Cards comeback chances. Larry Fitzgerald (8-92) was the game’s leading receiver. His first catch of the night gave him a reception in 122 straight games, topping Mel Gray for the franchise record in that category. The win improved the Rams record to 3-2, bettering their 2-win total from 2011 and putting them above .500 for the first time since 2006.

Rams 31, CARDINALS 17November 25, 2012 – University of Phoenix Stadium (60,062)

The Cardinals returned to University of Phoenix Stadium for the first time in a month looking to snap a 6-game losing streak. Against the visiting Rams, Arizona went with rookie QB Ryan Lindley (6th round) who made his first career start. The Cards were also bolstered by the return of RB Beanie Wells who was activated from IR after a 7-week absence. The day began promisingly for Wells, Lindley & the Cards and Arizona led 17-14 at the half. Wells had a pair of rushing TDs and Lindley was 16-19 for 179 yards on the team’s three 1st half scoring drives (TD, TD, FG). However St. Louis outscored the Cards 17-0 in the 2nd

half en route to a 31-17 victory. Pivotal were four Lindley INTs including a pair returned for TDs by rookie CB Janoris Jenkins. Things started promisingly for Arizona’s offense which opened the game with its longest drive of the year. The 15-play, 91-yard series ended on a Wells’ 1-yard plunge and consumed more than half of the opening quarter (8:55). On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Jenkins stepped in front of a Lindley pass and returned it 36 yards to tie the game at 7. Midway thru that quarter, Arizona reclaimed the lead when Wells’ 12-yard run capped a 65-yard drive on which the key plays included a 28-yard completion to TE Rob Housler and a 13-yarder to WR Andre Roberts. Housler finished with a career-best 8 catches for 82 yards while Roberts had a game-high 9 grabs for 92 yards. On the ensuing drive the Rams advanced to the AZ7 but on 1st-n-goal Patrick Peterson INT’d a Sam Bradford pass in the end zone. The next St. Louis series saw Bradford move the offense 71 yards in 7 plays and ended with a 37-yard TD pass to TE Lance Kendricks that tied it at 14 with 1:53 to play before halftime. That was enough time for Lindley to move the AZ offense into position for a 32-yard Jay Feely FG that made it 17-14 at intermission. On their initial drive of the 3rd quarter the Rams began at their own 8 but on the first play Steven Jackson’s 46-yard run moved St. Louis to the AZ46. Jackson would finish the game with 139 rushing yards on 24 carries. Two plays later Bradford hit Chris Givens with a 37-yard TD pass that gave the Rams their first lead of the game. Three snaps later a Craig Dahl INT off Lindley set St. Louis up at the AZ12 but the Rams came away empty when Greg Zuerlein missed from 35 yards and the Rams lead remained 4 points. Later in the quarter lightning struck again when Jenkins returned another INT 39 yards for a score that made it 28-17. Arizona could not chip into that 11-point lead and Zuerlein’s 19-yard FG with 5:27 remaining provided the final margin of victory.

KEIM TAKES THE REINS In January, Steve Keim was named the Cardinals new General Manager. Earning the promotion at the age of 40, Keim became one of the youngest GMs in the NFL. Keim will celebrate his 41st

birthday this Sunday during his first game as GM.

“Steve has earned this position,” Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said when announcing Keim’s promotion. “As I went through the process of evaluating the field of candidates and speaking to people, both inside our training facility and outside, I became more and more convinced that Steve Keim was the right man to be the general manager for the Arizona Cardinals.”

A Pennsylvania native, Keim was a two-time All-ACC selection at guard at N.C. State before going on to a brief stint in professional football as a free agent with the Miami Dolphins (1996) and Edmonton Eskimos (1997) of the Canadian Football League.

RECORD HOLDER RETURNS The running backs on the Arizona roster have a lot of work to do to live up to the legacy left by their position coach, Stump Mitchell, while he played with the Cardinals.

A standout RB and return specialist for nine seasons with the Cards from 1981-89, Mitchell enters his first season as RBs coach with the Cardinals and 12th season as an NFL assistant.

A ninth round selection (226th overall) by the Cardinals in the 1981 NFL Draft, Mitchell spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the Cards. He currently holds the franchise record with 11,988 all-purpose yards and ranks second all-time in rushing yards (4,649), punt return yards (1,377) and kickoff return yards (4,007), while also adding 1,955 career receiving yards.

Mitchell finished his career having posted a 4.7-yard average, which ranks as the second-highest career mark in team history. He posted a 5.6-yard rushing average in 1981, earning All-Rookie honors from Pro Football Weekly, who also awarded him All-NFC honors as a kickoff returner in 1984.

PRATT ENTERS 35th NFL SEASON Cardinals pass rush specialist Tom Pratt kicks off his 35th year coaching in the NFL in 2013 after starting his career in 1963 with the Kansas City Chiefs. Before coaching the Kansas City defensive line in Super Bowl I and earning a title in Super Bowl IV, Pratt held the same position for the Chiefs while they were members of the American Football League, earning him the honor of being the only active NFL assistant to have coached in the AFL. Pratt is also the only current coach in the NFL to be on staff during each of the last six decades (60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and ‘10’s). During his NFL tenure, Pratt has coached four Pro Football Hall of Famers, including two 2013 selections, has aided five players in reaching a combined 23 Pro Bowls and helped three players earn a combined seven All-Pro titles.

REMARKABLE RECOVERY That Cardinals quarterback coach Freddie Kitchens was with the team when it reported to training camp on July 25th was remarkable considering the scare he endured just 50 days earlier. At an OTA practice on June 4th, Kitchens began to feel ill. QBs Drew Stanton and Carson Palmer sensed that something was wrong and called over the team’s head trainer Tom Reed.

“Anyone who knows Freddie’s personality, he’s jovial and easy-going,” Stanton said. “He was joking around asking if a heart attack is on the left or right side, going for the chuckle, and then said ‘Actually, it’s kind of in the middle here.’ I told him, ‘Freddie, that sounds kind of serious,’ and Carson (Palmer) said ‘Yeah Freddie, you don’t look so good, you’re kind of flush.’ He tried to say he was OK, but we called Tom (Reed) over and he was monitoring him.” The trainers arranged for Kitchens to be taken to the hospital for tests and during that process, a CT scan revealed tears in his aorta that required surgery, which he had that same night after being flown to the Arizona Heart Hospital. "We never even talked about how soon I would be back," Kitchens said after the team reported to camp. "It's really the same way you do it in football. You just do the best you can every day and you see where you're at in the end. It just so happened I was well enough to get back to work.” When he is on the sideline for this week’s season opener against St. Louis, Kitchens will be 96 days removed from heart surgery.

FOUR IN A ROW? The Cardinals head to St. Louis this week looking for a victory in the regular season opener. With a win, Arizona would improve to 4-0 in season openers dating back to 2010.

The Cards current streak of three consecutive season opening victories is tied for the third-longest active streak in the NFL.

Active Win Streaks – Opening Week Wins Team 9 New England 5 Baltimore 3 Arizona 3 Chicago 3 Houston 3 Washington

The Cards have not won four straight openers since 1973-76.

THE CLIMB CONTINUES Larry Fitzgerald enters the 2013 season having caught a pass in a franchise record 133 consecutive games. Fitzgerald broke Mel Gray’s previous franchise mark of 121 games in Week 5 of the 2012 season against St. Louis. The only game in which he did not catch a pass came during his rookie season (10/31/04 @ Buffalo). Fitzgerald’s receptions streak ranks as the second-longest active mark in the NFL behind Tony Gonzalez (193).

THE FRANCHISE During his first nine NFL seasons, Larry Fitzgerald broke virtually every major Cardinals career receiving record. With those records in his pocket, the only remaining question is how high the numbers will go by the time he is done. In 2011, Fitzgerald became the franchise all-time leader in receiving yards, receiving TDs, career 100-yard games and total TDs. He became the franchise all-time receptions leader in 2010. He built on those records with his performance in ’12. A Career Full of Accomplishments: Franchise career leader in receptions (764), receiving yards (10,413), receiving TDs (77), total TDs (77) and 100-yard receiving

games (34). His six 1,000-yard seasons are a franchise record, as were his streak of five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons between 2007-11.

One of just four players in NFL history to record at least 1,400 receiving yards in a season four times in their career: Jerry Rice (6), Randy Moss (4) and Marvin Harrison (4).

At 28 years, 74 days old, he became the third-youngest player in NFL history to reach 70 career receiving TDs behind only RandyMoss (26 years, 269 days old) and Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (28 years, one day old).

At 27 years, 110 days old, he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 600 career receptions. In 2010, he became the first player in NFL history to record 90+ receptions five times in their first seven seasons. During the 2008 postseason, he broke virtually every major playoff receiving record, establishing new single-season marks for

receptions (30), receiving yards (546) and TDs (7). His four 100-yard receiving games that postseason established a new NFL record for consecutive games with 100 yards receiving.

His nine TD receptions in six career postseason games are an NFL record for a player in their first six career playoff contests. With a franchise record 103 receptions during the 2005 season, he became the youngest player in NFL history to record a 100-

HOUSLER READY TO SHINE TE Rob Housler enters his third NFL season after being selected by the Cardinals with the 69th overall pick in 2011 out of Florida Atlantic. In his first two years with Arizona, Housler has started 11 of the 29 games he has appeared in, totaling 57 receptions for 550 yards.

Housler took a giant step during the 2012 season, hauling in 45 receptions for 417 yards and showing significant progress as a receiver. Despite missing the season finale due to injury, Housler’s 45 reeptions ranked as the fifth-best total in franchise history among TEs. Only two TEs (Jackie Smith and Freddie Jones) had more catches in a season than Housler did during the 2012 campaign.

At 6-5 and 250 pounds, Housler possesses a rare combination of size and speed for a tight end. At the 2011 NFL Combine, Housler ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds, which was the fastest time among any TE at the event.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS WR Michael Floyd capped off his rookie season in 2012 with a performance that has observers predicting big things for the former first round pick out of Notre Dame.

After sharing the field in the offseason and in training camp, no one has higher expectations for Floyd than QB Carson Palmer.

"Very, very smart for a year two guy; he gets it, he understands it," Palmer said following a training camp practice. "He has a natural feel for getting open in zones, which is something you're not taught. You can sit there and watch film with a guy forever -- either you have it, or it's something that takes years to develop and he's got it already. Phenomenal playmaker.”

As a rookie, Floyd saved the best performance of the season for the finish, establishing season-highs with eight receptions for 166 yards and a TD in the Week 17 finale at San Francisco.

Floyd’s 166 receiving yards were the highest total for a Cardinals rookie since Anquan Boldin totaled 217 yards on 9/7/03 at Detroit. It also tied for the fourth-best single game total by a rookie in franchise history. Among rookies, only Jacksonville’s Justin Blackmon—selected 5th overall in the ‘12 NFL Draft and the only receiver taken before Floyd—had more receiving yards in a game in ‘12 when he totaled 236 yards at Houston on 11/18.

His 166 receiving yards were the most for a Cardinals player in a game since Boldin posted 186 yards on 11/16/08 at Seattle.

Floyd finished his rookie season with 45 receptions for 562 yards and two TDs. He posted 37 receptions over the final nine games after totaling eight catches over the first seven catches. Floyd’s first career reception was an eight-yard TD vs. Philly in Week 3.

BEFORE HE WAS 30 WR Larry Fitzgerald celebrated his 30th birthday on August 31. As he begins his 10th NFL season, below is a look at Fitzgerald’s current receiving totals and where they rank all-time among NFL players before age 30. His 764 receptions rank first, his 10,413 receiving yards rank second (behind Randy Moss’ 10,700) and his 77 receiving TDs are tied for fourth behind Randy Moss (101), Jerry Rice (95) and Terrell Owens (80). A CAREER YEAR FOR ROBERTS Fourth-year WR Andre Roberts enjoyed a strong season for the Cardinals in 2012, starting all 15 games he appeared in and collecting career highs in receptions (64), receiving yards (759) and receiving TDs (5), which also ranked as a team-high. His five TD receptions also surpassed the total from his first two NFL seasons combined (4).

Roberts’ successful 2012 campaign built on the promise he showed towards the end of the 2011 season, when he began to emerge as a playmaker for the Cards over the team’s final nine games. After totaling 13 receptions for 133 yards through the first seven games of ‘11, he totaled 38 catches for 453 yards and two TDs over the final nine outings.

Combined with his performance in 15 games last season (missed Week 13 with an ankle injury), Roberts’ production over his last 24 games easily overshadows his output through his first 22 career games.

Roberts opens the 2013 season with a streak of 24 consecutive games with at least one reception.

Roberts has proven to be a clutch performer at the end of tight contests. He caught game-winning TD passes in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks in Week 1 of the 2012 season and against the 49ers in Week 14 of the 2011 campaign. He also hauled in a 15-yard TD reception on fourth down with just 22 seconds remaining in regulation to force OT in the Week 4 matchup against Miami in ’12.

A HEISMAN MATCHUP Cardinals QB Carson Palmer and Rams QB Sam Bradfordare two of six Heisman Trophy winners still active in the NFL. They are two of just three active Heisman winners drafted first overall, joining Carolina’s Cam Newton.

Palmer and Bradford are among 18 former Heisman winners selected first overall in the NFL Draft, dating back to the University of Chicago’s Jay Berwanger in 1936, who was both the first-ever Heisman winner and the first-ever NFL Draft pick. A BIG SEASON IN 2012 Carson Palmer is coming off one of the best seasons of his career in ‘12, having completed 345 of 565 pass attempts (61.1%) for 4,018 yards, 22 TDs, 14 INTs and a passer rating of 85.3. Highlights From 2012 Threw for 4,018 yards in 15 games, becoming just the second

QB in Raiders history to top 4,000 yards in a season, joining Rich Gannon who had 4,689 in his NFL MVP season of 2002.

His 345 completions were the third-most in franchise history while his 85.3 passer rating represented the fourth-best mark of his career and highest since 2007.

Palmer’s 2.5% INT-to-pass attempt ratio was the second-lowest of his career; in his Pro Bowl seasons of 2005 and ’06 he had INT ratios of 2.4 and 2.5, respectively.

In weeks 9-11 of 2012 he threw for 300+ yards in three straight games for the first time in his career and had a career-best six 300-yard games in all.

Threw for 22 TD passes, giving Palmer his sixth career season with 20 or more.

Palmer completed 61.1% of his pass attempts in 2012 marking the 8th time in nine seasons as a starter that he finished the season with a completion percentage over 60.

With 312 passing yards vs. New Orleans on November 18, he eclipsed the 3,000-yard mark in his 10th game of the season marking the fastest he reached that plateau in his career.

STANTON JOINS THE NEST After the Cardinals hired Bruce Arians as the head coach in January, one of the first players he signed when free agency opened was QB Drew Stanton, who spent the 2012 season with him in Indianapolis.

A former Michigan State standout, Stanton begins his seventh NFL season. During his first six NFL seasons, the 2007 second round draft pick by the Detroit Lions appeared in 12 games, with four starts. For his career, Stanton has completed 104 of 187 pass attempts for 1,158 yards, five TDs and nine INTs.

Stanton last started in the NFL during the 2010 season with Detroit, finishing the year with a 2-1 record, winning his final two starts against Green Bay and Tampa Bay.

A Quick Look at Stanton Signed a three-year contract with the Cardinals on 3/13/13

as a free agent, reuniting with head coach Bruce Arians, who coached Stanton in Indianapolis in 2012.

Threw a TD on his first NFL pass attempt (one-yard pass vs. Jacksonville in ’08), becoming just the second Lions QB ever to accomplish that feat (Chuck Long, 1986).

Last NFL start came in a win over Tampa Bay on 12/19/10, when Stanton went 23 of 37 (62.2%) for 252 yards, a TD and a passer rating of 91.3.

Originally entered the NFL when he was selected in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2007 draft by the Lions.

Spent five seasons in Detroit (2007-11) before signing with the Jets as a free agent in ’12. Traded to Indy seven days later, serving as the backup to Pro Bowler Andrew Luck.

LINDLEY RETURNS FOR YEAR TWO QB Ryan Lindley—taken in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft— returns for his second season in Arizona after starting four of the six games he appeared in last year as a rookie. A product of San Diego State, Lindley saw his first NFL action in Week 11 of the 2012 season at Atlanta and his first career start the following week vs. St. Louis. Against the Rams, Lindley finished the day having passed for 312 yards, establishing a franchise mark for a rookie making his first career start.

Three weeks later, Lindley earned his first career win during the Cardinals Week 15 victory over Detroit, becoming one of four rookie QBs to win that week and one of eight rookie QBs to win a game in the NFL in 2012.

A LOOK AT THE LINE From proven veterans with over 100 starts under their belt to rookie draft picks, 10 players earned spots the Cardinals initial 53-man roster heading into the 2012 season after a prolonged training camp and preseason battle.

The competition will got even more contested after 2013 first round draft pick G Jonathan Cooper, penciled in as the starter at LG, suffered a broken fibula in the third preseason game against San Diego, landing him on injured reserve. QUINTET IN THE BACKFIELD The Cardinals entered training camp in 2013 with a crowded backfield which consisted of five players vying for roster spots at RB. When the team’s 53-man roster was announced, all five backs had shown enough to the coaching staff in preseason that they each earned a place on the season-opening roster. The group consists of fifth-year pro Rashard Mendenhall,fourth-year pro Alfonso Smith, third-year back Ryan Williamsand 2013 draft picks Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington. “I like our running backs,” head coach Bruce Arians said of the decision to keep five RBs on the roster. “It’s one of the strengths of our whole football team, that position. We’re not going to weaken it at all.”

MENDENHALL ENTERS THE MIX When Arizona signed RB Rashard Mendenhall in the offseason, it brought in a back who has two 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt and who has averaged over four yards per carry and 29 TDs over his 864 career rushing attempts. The Steelers first round pick (23rd overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft, Mendenhall spent five seasons in Pittsburgh, playing his first four years under head coach Bruce Arians, then the Steelers offensive coordinator.

For his career, Mendenhall has rushed for 100+ yards in a game nine times (8 regular season, 1 postseason) and scored multiple TDs in a game six times (5 regular season, 1 postseason). played in the regular season and totaled 3,549 yards and 29 TDs on 864 rushing attempts while adding 77 receptions for 661 yards and two TDs. In three postseason starts, totaled 230 yards and four TDs on 61 rushing attempts.

His 29 rushing TDs rank fifth in Steelers history behind only Franco Harris (91), Jerome Bettis (78), Kordell Stewart (35) and Terry Bradshaw (31).

Has twice been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4 in ’09 vs. SD and Week 6 of 2011 vs. Jax).

YEAR THREE FOR WILLIAMS After his first two NFL seasons have been cut short by injury, RB Ryan Williams is hoping his third year will finally be the one where he gets the chance to showcase his full abilities. The team’s second-round pick in 2011, Williams was one of the Cardinals’ training camp standouts as a rookie. However, he suffered a knee injury in a preseason game at Green Bay and spent the entire season on injured reserve. After rehabbing tirelessly through the offseason, he made his long-awaited NFL debut when he started the 2012 season opener against Seattle. In Week 3, he led the team with 83 yards on 13 carries in a victory over Philadelphia, but two weeks later he suffered a shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve for the second consecutive year. After setbacks with his injured knee early in training camp in 2013, Williams got back on the field in time to play in the final two preseason matchups. “I felt like I was back at Virginia Tech again, it was almost scary,” Williams said after the finale in Denver last week. “This was the first time that I actually felt natural running since the knee injury. It never really felt like this since then, so it feels really good to be able to go out there and know what I’m doing and just let the game come to me instead of me sitting there trying to make something happen.”

THE DRAFTED BACKS In addition to the veteran RBs on the roster, the Cardinals backfield also features two 2013 draft picks Stepfan Taylorand Andre Ellington.Stepfan Taylor (5th Round, 140th Overall – Stanford) The only player in Stanford history to rush for 1,000 yards in

three consecutive seasons, Taylor established a number of career rushing records for the Cardinals and was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top RB as a senior in 2012.

Taylor started 39 of 53 games played at Stanford and established school career records for rushing attempts (843), rushing yards (4,300), total TDs (45) and 100-yard rushing performances (21).

An extremely reliable player, Taylor never missed a game in college, fumbling just seven times in nearly 1,000 touches.

Andre Ellington (6th Round, 187th Overall – Clemson) One of just four players in Clemson history to rush for 1,000

yards twice in their career, Ellington averaged 5.5 yards per carry for his career, never averaging below 5.1 yards per attempt in any of his four seasons.

Ellington started 33 of the 49 games he appeared in for the Tigers, rushing 621 times for 3,436 yards and 33 TDs.

A standout on special teams, Ellington returned 26 kickoffs for 642 yards (24.7 avg.) and a TD.

THE BLOCK PARTY After leading the NFL in blocked FGAs for three consecutive seasons (5 in 2011, 3 in 2010 and 3 in 2009), Arizona finished second in that category in 2012, blocking two FGAs. Only Buffalo (3) blocked more FGAs than the Cards in 2012.

The Cards also blocked a New England punt in Week 2. Arizona’s three blocked kicks overall trailed only Buffalo (5) and Minnesota (4) in 2012. RETURNING AFTER RECORD SEASON P Dave Zastudil established a new NFL single-season record with 46 punts landing inside the 20-yard line in 2012. He broke the previous record of 42, shared by three players—Andy Lee (SF, 2007), Ben Graham (Ari, 2009) and Steve Weatherford (NYJ, 2010). 100 AGAIN FOR FEELY After hitting 25 of 28 FGAs on the season and successfully converting all 25 PATs, K Jay Feely totaled 100 points in 2012. It represented the eighth 100-point campaign of his career and fourth in the past five seasons.

With 100 points again in 2013, Feely would become one of 14 players in NFL history with at least nine seasons of 100+ points.

Since entering the NFL in 2001, Feely has scored 1,310 points, the second-highest total in the NFL in that time period behind only Detroit’s David Akers (1,488).

STREAKS CONTINUE ENTERING 2013 K Jay Feely ended the 2012 season by converting his final 14 consecutive FGAs, the fifth-best total in franchise history. He now owns three of the five longest consecutive FG streaks in team history.

With the streak intact entering the 2013 campaign, Feely needs to hit his first regular season FGA to run his streak to 15 straight, which would tie Neil Rackers’ 2008 total for the fourth-best mark in team history. WHAT TO LOOK FOR With a win this week, the Cards would have victories in four straight season openers for the first time since 1973-76. A win this week would give the Cardinals eight wins in their last nine trips to St. Louis.

Head Coach Bruce Arians If the Cardinals win the season opener this week, Arians would become the team’s first head coach to win his debut game with the team since Don Coryell in 1973.

WR Larry Fitzgerald With a TD reception this week, Fitzgerald would have 14 career TD receptions in 19 games against the Rams. He would become the only active NFL player with at least 14 TD receptions against a single opponent.

CB Patrick Peterson With an INT this week, Peterson would have an INT in three consecutive games against the Rams. It would also give him four INTs in five career games against St. Louis. With a punt return TD this week, Peterson would become one of just five players in NFL history with at least three punt return TDs against a single opponent.

K Jay Feely Finished the 2012 season having hit 14 consecutive FGAs and needs one more to tie Neil Rackers’ 2008 total for the fourth-best mark in team history.

DE Calais Campbell With a sack this week, Campbell would have a sack in four consecutive games dating back to last season. That would tie for the third-longest streak in franchise history and longest since Darnell Dockett (4) in 2009.

DT Darnell Dockett With 36.0 career sacks, Dockett enters this week’s game needing one sack to tie David Galloway for eighth place on the franchise all-time sacks list.

RB Rashard Mendenhall With 100 yards rushing this week, Mendenhall would become the first Cards RB to rush for 100 yards in the season opener since Edgerrin James (100 yds @ SF) in 2008. With 100 yards rushing this week, Mendenhall would have 100 yards rushing in both career outings against the Rams.

YEAR 115 AND COUNTING The 2013 season represents the 115th year since the Morgan Athletic Club formed in Chicago in 1898—a team now known as the Arizona Cardinals. In a predominantly Irish neighborhood of Chicago’s South side, a group of men gathered to play football under the name Morgan Athletic Club. The team was later acquired by Chris O’Brien and shortly after, their playing site changed to Normal Field, initiating the first name change to Normals. The year 1901 marks the club’s nickname’s origination after O’Brien bought used faded maroon jerseys from the University of Chicago and insisted that they were actually “Cardinal red.” The field location (61st and Racine) and jersey color led to the glaring name change to the Racine Cardinals. Once disbanding in 1906 due to the lack of available competition, O’Brien reorganized the team in 1913 and would later be forced to suspend operations due to World War I and a flu epidemic. The team reorganized in 1918 and played in Chicago until transferring to St. Louis in 1960. The Cardinals have remained a constant part of professional football in America, being one of only two (Chicago Bears) of the 11 charter members of the NFL still in existence.

PETERSON AND THE PRO BOWL CB Patrick Peterson earned his second career Pro Bowl nod—and first as a cornerback—after leading the Cardinals with seven INTs in 2012.

Peterson earned a spot on the roster at CB for the NFC squad a year after earning Pro Bowl honors as a kick returner. In earning recognition as a CB in ’12, Peterson joined Hall of Famer Rod Woodson as the only two players ever selected to the Pro Bowl as both a defender and kick returner.

With the NFL recently announcing the Pro Bowl will no longer feature kick returners, Peterson and Woodson will remain the only two players in league history to accomplish that feat.

In earning Pro Bowl honors during his first two NFL seasons Peterson, who turned 23 in July, became just the ninth player in league annals selected to two Pro Bowls prior to the age of 23.

FROM THE BAYOU TO THE DESERT The Cardinals defense in 2013 will feature a trio of former collegiate stars drafted by the Cardinals out of Louisiana State. Joining two-time Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson—a Bednarik and Thorpe Award winner at LSU in 2010—on the Arizona defense this season will be 2013 draft picks LB Kevin Minter (2nd Round, 45th

overall) and S Tyrann Mathieu (3rd Round, 69th overall).

All three players were highly decorated during their days with the Tigers. In addition to Peterson’s accomplishments, Minter was a Sports Illustrated first-team All-American and one of three finalists for the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker. Mathieu followed up Peterson’s Bednarik Award (nation’s top defender) in 2010 with his own in 2011, as a sophomore. He was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and was the first DB invited to the Heisman ceremony in New York since Charles Woodson in 1997.

BELL BATTLES ONNine seasons in the NFL, over 120 games played, a Pro Bowl selection and over 100 tackles in each of the last five seasons—those are just a few of the accomplishments of Cardinals newly acquired S Yeremiah Bell during his time in the league. Those are extraordinary accomplishments for a player who almost never played football past the high school level in a small school in the heart of Kentucky. After failing to receive a single scholarship offer following his playing days at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY, Bell went to work at a steel mill where he earned $8 an hour bending liner pieces put into tunnels.

But Bell’s dream of one day making it to the NFL never died and every Sunday, Bell would watch The Roy Kidd Show, hosted by the local coaching legend at Eastern Kentucky University. He told himself that once he earned enough money to pay for his freshman season at EKU, he would walk on and earn a scholarship on his way to the pros—and that is exactly what Bell did. Bell went to earn that scholarship, becoming a three-year letterman at EKU, earning first-team Division I-AA All-American honors in 2001 before missing his senior season in 2002 due to a knee injury. By then, the scouts had already seen enough, and Bell was selected by the Dolphins in the sixth round (213th overall) of the 2003 draft.

CHANGE IN THE BACKFIELD Change has occurred throughout the Cards roster heading into the 2013 season but no position group will have a more dramatic overhaul than the defensive backfield.

The offseason saw the departure of veterans such as Adrian Wilson, Kerry Rhodes, William Gay, Greg Toler and Michael Adams from last year’s unit, and the remaking of the defensive backfield has includes four veterans, two rookies and four returning DBs.

The safety spot will feature a host of new faces, with Cards 2009 third round draft pick Rashad Johnson stepping into a starting role and the acquisition of Pro Bowler Yeremiah Bell in the offseason. Also in the rotation are 2013 third round draft pick (69th overall) Tyrann Mathieu and rookie free agent Tony Jefferson out of Oklahoma.

Penciled in at CB are Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson and fifth year pro Jerraud Powers, acquired by the Cardinals as a free agent in the offseason after four years in Indianapolis. But plenty of candidates for playing time. Among those in the mix at CB are veteran offseason acquisitions Antoine Cason and Javier Arenas, who join with a pair of Cards 2012 NFL Draft picks in Justin Betheland Jamell Fleming.

In all, there are eight veterans on the Cardinals roster who have combined for 29 years of experience, 415 games played and 243 starts in the NFL.

GETTING THE GANG BACK TOGETHER With the re-signing of LB Karlos Dansby in the offseason—bringing back the team’s 2004 second round draft selection after a three-year stint in Miami—the Cardinals now have three of their all-time sacks leaders playing together again. With 25.5 sacks as a member of the Cardinals, Dansby is tied for 11th all-time on the franchise career sack list, one spot behind DE Calais Campbell, who ranks 10th with 27.5 career sacks and two spots behind DT Darnell Dockett, who comes in ninth with 36.0 career sacks. CALAIS CAMPBELL – THE ALL-JOE DE Calais Campbell is entering his seventh NFL season, and the work he put in during his first six seasons in the league—both on defense and on special teams—has earned him a near perennial spot on USA Today’s All-Joe list.

What is the All-Joe team? USA Today started the list in 1992 to honor “first rate players that receive second-rate recognition.” No player more defines that description than Campbell, and he was named to the USA Today All-Joe team in 2009, 2011 and 2012.

In selecting Campbell following last season, here is what USA Today had to say about the former Hurricane, “Campbell is the rare 3-4 defensive end who can wreck a game. He's averaged seven sacks over the past four seasons, and his 6-8 frame plays havoc with passers and kickers.”

With a workman-like attitude, Campbell has put together an outstanding resume that rivals many at his position, with a unique skill on special teams that adds another dimension. At 6-8, Campbell’s height has worked to his advantage so

far in his NFL career—he tied for the NFL lead in both passes defensed (11) and blocked field goals (3) in 2011. He has six career blocked field goals and his 18 passes defensed over the last two seasons (2011-12) trail only Houston’s J.J. Watt (20).

Led the Cardinals in sacks for three straight years (2009-11) and has posted at least 60 tackles and six sacks in each of the last three seasons.

After winning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in the Week 2 victory over the New England Patriots in ‘12, Campbell became the first player in team history to win Player of the Week honors in two different categories. He was also chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week following a Week 2 victory against Jacksonville in 2009.

DANSBY RETURNS The Cardinals selected LB Karlos Dansby with the first pick of the second round (33rd overall) in 2004 and the Auburn alum spent six seasons in Arizona before signing with Miami as a free agent prior to the 2010 season. Dansby made his return to the Valley when he signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals on 5/10/13 as a free agent. Now back in Arizona, Dansby is one of 11 players selected in the 2004 Draft that is currently with the team that selected them. WR Larry Fitzgerald and DT Darnell Dockett are also members of the ’04 class that remain with the Cardinals. Arizona is now the only team with three ’04 draft picks on its current roster. In his six seasons with the Cardinals, Dansby started 83 of 90 regular season games played and all six postseason matchups. He totaled 623 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 10 INTs, 27 passes defensed, 13 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries. In postseason play, he added 51 tackles, an INT, five passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

UP FRONT Since he was selected by Arizona in 2004, All-Pro DT Darnell Dockett has evolved into one of the most dominant DTs in football, earning three Pro Bowl nods, and appearing in more games (142) than any other player at his position.

THE LEADER On the day the Cardinals reported to training camp to begin the 2013 season (7/25), the team signed LB John Abraham to a two-year contract. With the signing, Arizona added the NFL’s active sacks leader, with Abraham piling up 122.0 sacks in a career that dates back to 2000.

Since sacks became an official stat in 1982, only 29 players have recorded at least 100 career sacks. With 122.0 career sacks, Abraham is tied with Simeon Rice for 13th place on the NFL’s all-time sacks list.

SUPER BOWL RETURNING TO ARIZONA On October 11, 2011, following a very competitive bidding process, the NFL owners awarded Super Bowl XLIX to Arizona as the nation’s biggest sporting event will be held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale following the 2015 season. “It’s going to be huge for tourism, our economic development and our visibility not only in the United States but around the world,” said Cardinals President Michael Bidwill.Super Bowl XLIX will be the third Super Bowl played in Arizona and the second one at University of Phoenix Stadium. The Cardinals home played host to Super Bowl XLII between the NY Giants and New England Patriots following the 2007 season and Arizona first hosted the Super Bowl following the 1995 season, when the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Super Bowl XLII brought with it an estimated economic impact of $500 million, with nearly 100,000 out-of-state visitors and thousands of media members from around the world visiting the Valley. With Super Bowl XLIX being held in Glendale, Arizona becomes one of just six host sites to be selected to host the Super Bowl at least three times.SB Host Sites Upcoming Super Bowls SBs Site SB Location 10 South Florida XLVIII MetLife Stadium (NJ) (2014) 10 New Orleans XLIX Univ. of Phoenix Stadium (2015)7 Los Angeles L Levi’s Stadium (SF) (2016) 4 Tampa Bay LI Reliant Stadium (Hou) (2017) 3 Arizona 3 San Diego
