loading platform.
National Geographic Endeavour II accommodates 96 guests in 42 double cabins and 11 solo cabins. With an
open, covered top deck and large windows in the lounge, you’ll discover plenty of viewing spaces for observing
the incredible wildlife and landscapes of Galápagos. Her dining room easily accommodates the entire
expedition community for a single seating and the spacious lounge features a redesigned presentation space
that offers all aboard the chance to participate in evening Recaps or special guest events. Life aboard is
casual in every respect. There is no need for formal clothing, although you are welcome to bring casually
festive attire for the fun of it. And you’ll find shipboard services like laundry make packing and traveling more
convenient.

Control Card will be given to everyone traveling to the Galápagos Islands and has been implemented as an
additional measure toward sustainable human development and conservation of the Galápagos ecosystems.
Please keep this with your other important documents while traveling in the Galápagos Islands. Officials will ask
for this card as you leave.
You will have time for lunch and to settle into your cabins before arriving at your first stop, Cerro Brujo. You may

Over the course of the week, our exact routing depends on the National Park Service.

this island, such as the waved albatrosses, Hood

among the finches of Daphne Major as the ship circumnavigates the famous islet.
Thursday 13 April – Bartolome and Sombrero
Chino
This morning you will visit Bartolomé, an
enchanting landscape where lava, mangroves and
golden sand converge. You will have the
opportunity for an early morning hike to the
summit of the cone, with stunning views of the
famous Pinnacle Rock and the surrounding
volcanic landscape. Later in the morning, you will
enjoy some wonderful snorkeling from the beach,
where you might encounter sea lions, small reef
sharks and even Galápagos penguins.
In the afternoon you will continue to explore some of the small islets just off the coast of Santiago Island, this time
a small volcano called “Sombrero Chino”, due to its resemblance to a Chinese hat. The stark lava flows form
tubes and caves that are an important nesting area for Galápagos penguins, and the waters bathing the shore are
rich in fish life. Options include time ashore, deep-water snorkeling and Zodiac rides to take in the other-worldly
landscapes.

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Guayaquil. You will spend this evening at the Hotel Hilton

Sunday 16 April – Guayaquil to Cuzco via Lima
This morning, we fly from Guayaquil to Lima, Peru. In Lima, you will need to pass through immigration and
customs and check in for your domestic flight to Cuzco.
On arrival in Cusco we will be met by a local guide from Condor Travel and transferred to our hotel in the Sacred
Valley. En route to our hotel we will share a couple of short visits to some interesting places.
Our first brief visit will be to Awanacancha, which is a weaving centre with the
goal to keep alive the traditional textile arts. You can learn about the
harvesting of the different wools and the natural dying techniques and have a
chance to see native weavers from different areas showing their different
weaving styles and dress. Here you can see four members of the Camelid
family - llama, alpacas, vicunas and guanacos.
The scenery around this area is remarkable with all of the patchworks fields
below in the river valley as we approach to our second stop in the small
Andean town of Pisac with its famed market. We will have a couple of stops
along the way for photos of the sacred valley. In Pisac, you can wander
around the market stalls, which offer a variety of souvenirs and local
produce.
A short journey through the Sacred Valley will bring us to our ideally
located hotel in Ollantaytambo. You have the afternoon at your own
leisure to enjoy the beautiful setting of the Sacred Valley. This will
provide you the opportunity to acclimatize to the altitude.
(Images - Copyright Contours Travel)
In the evening, we have dinner included at our hotel. This will provide the opportunity
to try some of the world famous Peruvian delicacies.
Notes: Due to the altitude, we recommend that you avoid any strenuous activity for the
remainder of the day. We suggest that you rest for one to two hours after checking in
to your hotel, prior to commencement of any physical activity. To further reduce the
effects of altitude sickness, we recommend you also drink plenty of fluids: water, fruit
juices, herbal tea or the local `mate de coca. It is highly recommended to avoid
caffeinated beverages and alcohol. Many hotels will have oxygen available should you
feel short of breath
Overnight: Casa Andina Private Collection, Sacred Valley in superior rooms (B, D)
Note: This evening pack a small overnight bag for your stay at Machu Picchu; your
main luggage will be transported to the Cuzco Hotel where you will be staying after
your visit to Machu Picchu. We suggest you do not leave valuables in your main luggage.
Please be advised of new requirements for Peru Rail passengers travelling to Machu Picchu: Each passenger must
take an original identity document or photocopy of the same in order to validate this information on the trip ticket.
Without this document next to the ticket, passenger will not be permitted to board the train service. Also be
informed that each Passenger is allowed to carry only light baggage on board the train, with a maximum weight of
5 kg and maximum girth of 62 cm due to limited space availability.
Monday 17 April – Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu
After breakfast, we will be collected from our hotel with our
entire luggage.
Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We visit
the Inca's Balcony, a beautiful terrace with an impressive
view of Chinchero, where twelve families still preserve their
traditional costumes, showing you the ancestral way in which
they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colours for their textiles.
Next we visit Moray, an impressing pre-Inca greenhouse, before travelling to Ollantaytambo, one of the most
monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish
conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its “andenes” (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for
agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress, which also served as a temple.
Ollantaytambo is a unique living Inca town, the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow
cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.
We will enjoy lunch before being dropped off at Ollantaytambo train station for our afternoon Vistadome train to
Machu Picchu. This scenic train journey will take approximately 1 hour & 45 minutes; we will be accompanied by
an English speaking guide.
Upon arrival to Machu Picchu, we have a 5 minute walk
to our hotel in the Machu Picchu village. After checking
into the hotel, we will have dinner at our hotel.
Overnight: Hotel El Mapi in superior deluxe rooms
(B, L, D)
Tuesday 18 April – Machu Picchu/Cuzco
This morning, we will be met at our hotel, by a local
Guide for your tour of Machu Picchu. Our English
speaking guide will take us up to Citadel of Machu
Picchu by a 30-minute mini-bus transfer and give a
briefing of how the morning’s 1 ½ -2 hour guided walking tour will be conducted. (Images - Copyright Contours Travel)
The remainder of the morning is free for your own unguided exploration of Machu Picchu. After exploring the most
fascinating features of this astounding and mysterious Inca settlement, the tour concludes with buffet lunch at
Sanctuary Lodge. Your return mini-bus transfer to Aguas Calientes is included; buses leave approximately every
15 minutes.
It is recommended to leave Machu Picchu at least 1½ - 2 hours prior to your advised train departure time, so that
you are ready at Aguas Calientes Railway station no later than 30 – 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.
We will catch the afternoon Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo. From Ollantaytambo, we have a private road
transfer to our Cuzco Hotel. This transfer will take around 1 ½ hours.
Cuzco is located in the Southern Sierras of Peruvian
Andes at an altitude of around 3,300 metres above sea
level. It is a fascinating city which was the capital of the
sun-worshipping Inca Empire. Cuzco is now a UNESCO
World Heritage Site and is one of Peru's most visited
cities.
You have the evening free to wander the cobblestone
streets and have something to eat at a restaurant
overlooking the beautiful Plaza de Armas (Main
Square).
Overnight: 2 nights Ramada Hotel Costa del Sol, contemporary rooms (B, L)
Wednesday 19 April – Cuzco
Today we are met at our hotel for a half day tour of the city and nearby ruins. Visit the Corichancha Temple, the
Cathedral, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking the city and Tambomachay ruins. The tour also passes
nearby to Puca Pucara and Kenko ruins.
The Inca's most sacred building in Cuzco is the
Korikancha (Temple of the Sun), which today
forms part of the Spanish church of Santo
Domingo. Ruins, temples, churches, and
mansions make this a memorable destination,
full of history and culture. A city with a splendid
legacy, Cuzco's winding cobbled streets transport
visitors through its rich, beautiful past.
Built in the 17th Century the Cuzco Cathedral,
with its solid silver high altar, is constructed atop
the site of the Palace of Viracocha, the

of interest in and around Cuzco.
You have the afternoon free to explore or do some souvenir shopping.
