This directory is published by The Gallatin County Family
Resource Center. Our mission is to provide and promote resources
to families in the community in order to encourage and enhance the
growth and development of children and the family by removing
barriers to a child’s success in school, establishing a network of
community resources and support systems, strengthening the family
unit, upgrading and increasing the childcare services of the
community and encouraging parental involvement.

Gallatin County Head Start serves preschool age children who meet income guidelines or other
eligibility criteria, including children with disabilities. Program includes early education, family and
health services, and parent involvement. Services include medical and dental screenings, vision
screenings, hearing screenings, speech/language screenings, nutrition/growth assessments, mental
health services and follow up care as needed.

The center provides services to children (0-17) who have been sexually abused, severely physically
abused, and children who have witnessed violent crimes. Services are also offered to their non-offending
caregivers, siblings, family members and professionals throughout Northern Kentucky.

First Steps is a statewide early intervention system that provides services to children with developmental
disabilities from birth to age 3 and their families. First Steps offers comprehensive services through a
variety of community agencies and service disciplines and is administered by the Department for Public
