Comprehension

This subject tests the child’s comprehension of the text and stories, including concepts such as the characters and how they feel.Knowing where stories are set. He needs to know whether the story isabout fantasy or realism. Recognising order in stories, what happenedfirst or last in a story.

The story is always an unseen passage.

The children will then be asked questions that will show whether or notthey’ve understood the story. The questions will follow many differentformats to test the learners understanding of the story.

Examples of comprehension style questions:

1. Why did the male emperor penguin hold his egg on his feet?

a.  to carry it to the nestb.  to see how heavy it is

c.  to hide it from bearsd.  to make sure it is warm
