Learning Objective:

• Consider the importance of creativity in our production work.

Creativity

• You will not get an exam question on creativity on its own. Creativity is ONLY used in conjunction with one of the other key areas.

Creativity audit: Produce a powerpoint presentation which answers the following. Aim for one

slide per question. Use lots of images and examples from both pieces of coursework.

• What features of your work would you say are original to you?

• Which media texts and producers have influenced your creative decisions?

• How successfully does your work engage its audience and provoke its interest?

• Consider some of the creative choices you had to make during the course of your production – how to use cameras, lighting, dialogue, colour etc.

• How did you make these decisions, and how did these contribute to the final production?

• How did digital technology/ real media texts/ research and planning/ post-production give you an opportunity to express and stretch your creativity?

What features of your work would you say are original to you?

The backwards letter is unique to my work. I was inspired by magazines like ‘Vibe’ which have a mix of capitals and lower case in their mastheads.

Hip hop magazines often have hooded cover stars. I feel I broke with convention by completely covering my model’s face. This furthers the suggestion that he is dangerous and edge, just like the music in my magazine.

This bright blue is unusual and breaks the rules. This represents how edgy my magazine is.

My CD digipak is different from most as it only shows the artist in one costume. This was intentional, as it creates a unity of colour throughout, and conveys a sense of heartbreak, as if she is trapped in a moment.
