#WEAREFGCUWhen referring to the University, please be aware of the following policy regarding usage. First refer-ences to the school and its intercollegiate ath-letic programs should always be FGCU or Florida Gulf Coast University. The only secondary refer-ences should be “FGCU” or “Eagles.” Please re-frain from using “Fla. Gulf Coast,” “Gulf Coast,” “Florida GC” or any other similar combinations.

Furthermore, against non-conference opponents during the regular sea-son, FGCU is 18-1 versus such foes at

The Nest since 2011-12. The Green and Blue went 5-0 in 2011-12, 7-0 in 2012-13 and 6-1 in 2013-14. The loss to Iona snapped a 15-game winning streak at Alico against non-conference opponents.

18-1

FGCU is 30-3 at Alico Arena over the past two seasons. The three losses have come to Lipscomb, Iona and Mercer, snapping – respectively – a nine-game home-court winning streak, another nine-game streak and a 12-game stretch. FGCU went 15-2 at home last year and 15-1 in 2012-13.

overallDespite only becoming Division-I postseason eligible in the 2011-12 season, FGCU has already claimed an impressive nine wins in the postseason.

NCAA 2-1 A-SUN 7-2FGCU won the program’s first A-Sun regular-season champi-onship in 2014 courtesy of a 14-4 league mark. The Eagles received a No. 8 seed in the NIT and traveled to No. 1 Florida State, falling just short (58-53) to the eventual NIT semifinalists.

FGCU became the first school in NCAA history to reach the Sweet Sixteen as a No. 15 seed in 2013 when the Eagles de-feated No. 2 George-town and No. 7 San Diego State en route to captivating the na-tion and earning the #DunkCity moniker. The Green and Blue lost to No. 3 Florida in the next round.

FGCU is the only school in Division-I history to reach the championship game of its confer-ence tournament in each of its first three seasons of el-igibility. The Eagles went 2-1 in 2012 (lost to Belmont), 3-0 in 2013 (de-feated Mercer) and 2-1 in 2014 (lost to Mercer).

DUNK CITY AFTER DARK

For the second-consecutive year FGCU was selected by ESPN for in-clusion in the worldwide leader’s Midnight Madness coverage when the Eagles hosted Dunk City After Dark on Oct. 17. With that honor, FGCU joined only four other ex-tremely tradition-rich programs which can boast that claim: Kan-sas, Kentucky, Syracuse and UConn.

67.5 PPG In Non-Conference Contests

FGCU was better in every key statistical category at home than on the road last year with the exception of free-throw shooting. The Eagles connected at a 69.4-percent clip (204-294) in their 16 road games and 65 percent (243-374) at home.

The Eagles went 15-2 at Alico Arena in 2013-14 while going 6-10 on the road. FGCU won by an average of 12.8 points per game when it played at The Nest compared with a -3.8 margin of defeat when on the road.

TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN

FGCU led the Atlantic Sun Conference in defense last year, allowing opponents to score just 66.8 points per game.

FGCU is the only school in the Atlantic Sun Conference which has won an A-Sun Men’s Basketball Champion-ship. Conference re-alignment has drastically altered the landscape of collegiate athletics, and the A-Sun is no dif-ferent. The Eagles joined the league in 2007-08 with USC Upstate, and prior to that North Florida and Kennesaw State both joined for the 2005-06 season. Lipscomb has been a member since 2003-04, Jacksonville since 1998-99 and Stetson since 1986-87. Northern Kentucky is in its third year in the A-Sun after joining in 2012-13 and has two years (including this season) of its NCAA-mandated Division-I reclassification period remaining.

The Atlantic Sun Conference has been the talk of the college basketball world the last two postseasons as FGCU and Mercer (now a Southern Conference member) have both been responsible for three major upsets in the NCAA Tour-nament, affectionately turning the A-Sun into the A-Stun.

POINTS IN THE PAINTDating back to the 2011-12 season, FGCU has won 25 consecutive games when outscoring its opponents in the paint by at least 15 points. Fueled by their high-flying Dunk City attack, the Eagles were 12-0 when holding at least a +15 margin in the paint in 2012-13 and were 11-0 in 2013-14. FGCU won two such games in 2011-12, with the last loss coming on Nov. 25, 2011, at Maryland (73-67) de-spite the Eagles out-scoring the then-ACC member in the paint by 16 points, 42-26.

25-0FGCU’s 14-4 Atlantic Sun Conference mark last year set the program re-cord for most league wins in a season. The Eagles went 13-5 in 2012-13, and prior to that FGCU’s best A-Sun record was 8-10 in the 2011-12 season.
