The last six pieces in Volume 1 are written in the key of G major, which has one sharp, F#. This involves
learning a new 2nd finger position next to 1st finger ‐ C natural on A string and G natural on E string.
A good way to practise this new note position is to play the G major scale. Listen for the familiar sound
of do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do. Semitones ‐ where fingers are placed closely together ‐ are marked with

the symbol Starting on the open G, play two octaves.
Alternatively, play the Twinkle theme in G major. Start on G (3rd finger on D string).
