Wednesday, June 8, 2022 – Antananarivo to Andasibe (3.5 hours driving time) Travel east through the highlands, passing rice fields and small traditional villages perched on hillsides. Visit Reserve Peyrieras, home to many chameleons and other native wildlife of Madagascar. Continue to the tropical rainforest of Andasibe. Take a night walk in the Mitsinjo Reserve with a guide, looking for nocturnal wildlife. Two nights at Vakona Forest Lodge. Thursday, June 9, 2022 – Andasibe Visit Analamazaotra Special Reserve in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, the best place to see the largest lemur, the “Indri”. Easy 2-3 hour hike to see other species of lemurs and endemic plants. Visit Vakona Reserve, an island which is home to brown lemurs, bamboo lemurs, ruffed lemurs, and diademed sifakas. At night take a walk in the VOIMMA Reserve to look for nocturnal species. Friday, June 10, 2022 – Andasibe to Antsirabe (8 hours driving time) Return to the highlands and follow the scenic National Road 7. Stop in the small town of Ambatolampy, famous for its metalwork creating everything from aluminum kitchen utensils to table football figures. Arrive in Antsirabe, one of the coolest (5,000’ elevation) and most elegant cities of Madagascar. Two nights in Antsirabe at Eco Lodge Chambres du Voyageur. Saturday, June 11, 2022 – Antsirabe and Lake Tritriva (1 hour driving time) Take a short tour of Antsirabe by rickshaw. Antsirabe is the rickshaw (“pousse-pousse”) capital of Madagascar with 3,000 of them in the city. Walk around beautiful Lake Tritriva, located in an extinct volcanic crater. Visit a village to learn about the local lifestyle. Night #2 in Antsirabe. Sunday, June 12, 2022 – Antsirabe to Ranomafana (5 hours driving time) Continue south to Ambositra, Madagascar’s center of the Zafimaniry people. They are renowned for their wood carving, which is on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Visit a workshop in Ambositra before continuing on to the rainforest in Ranomafana. Night visit with a guide to look for nocturnal species like the Fossa (cat-like mammal) and the Mouse Lemur, the smallest mammal in the world (1 ounce!). Two nights in Ranomafana in bungalows at Centrest Sejour Hotel. Monday, June 13, 2022 – Ranomafana National Park Morning walk in Ranomafana to look for endangered lemurs such as the golden bamboo lemur and greater bamboo lemur. Free time to take a warm swim in a thermal pool in town, visit a women’s co-op where they weave silk and cotton, or attend an evening lecture at Centre ValBio where research scientists discuss a topic related to Madagascar’s biodiversity. Night #2 in Ranomafana. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 - Ranomafana to Isalo National Park (4 hours driving time) Continue south past the rounded domes of the Andrigita Mountains. Stop in the pleasant highlands town of Ambalavao and visit the famous Antaimoro Paper Factory. Watch the process of making papyrus-type paper inlaid with dried flowers to be exported around the world. Visit the Anja Community Reserve, one of the best places to see ring-tailed lemurs. Continue southwest into a savanna environment to Isalo, Madagascar’s most popular national park. Two nights at Isalo Rock Lodge in Ranohira, the gateway town to Isalo National Park.

Wednesday, June 15 – Isalo National Park Guided hike with a park ranger in Isalo National Park, through a sandstone landscape and canyons to a waterfall and natural pool fringed by palm trees. Besides the beautiful landscape there is a chance to see lemurs as well. Night #2 at Isalo Rock Lodge. Thursday, June 16 – Isalo to Toliara (4 hours driving time) Drive one-hour on an excellent road to Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park. This is one of the few remnants of a Tropical Deciduous Forest in Madagascar, while the surrounding area is totally deforested. Go on a guided walk to look for rare endemic bird and gecko species. Visit Antsokay Arboretum on a guided tour to learn about the endemic flora of Madagascar. Continue to the Tropic of Capricorn sign, marking the southernmost latitude where the sun shines directly overhead. One night in Toliara at Moringa Hotel. Friday, June 17 – Toliara to Antananarivo (flight) Fly back to Antananarivo. Depending on arrival time you might go to Digue Market, the largest handicrafts market in the city. Farewell dinner. One final night in Madagascar at Hotel Au Bois Vert. Saturday, June 18 – Depart Madagascar Depart Antananarivo to return to the USA, or continue your travels in Africa with GeoTours Namibia. Sunday, June 19, 2022 – Arrive home in the USA

Saturday, June 4, 2022 – Morondava to Bekopaka (9 hours driving time) Early start to see the sunrise at the Avenue des Baobabs, the famous “upside-down trees” that look like their roots are in the air. Continue on a long drive to Bekopaka, with two river crossings by ferry. Two nights in Bekopaka at Tanankoay Hotel or equivalent. Sunday, June 5, 2022 – Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park Full day in the national park to explore the bizarre “Grand Tsingy” landscape, sharp rock pinnacles of limestone dissolved by rainwater. The landscape has hanging bridges, large vertical drops, and lots of exposed rocks. To fully explore this landscape you cannot have a fear of heights. Night #2 in Bekopaka. Monday, June 6, 2022 – Bekopaka to Morondava (9 hours driving time) Long drive back to Morondava, with a stop at Avenue des Baobabs around sunset. One night in Morondava. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 – Morondava to Antananarivo (flight) Return to Antananarivo to meet up with the rest of the GeoTours group.

Responsibility The program participant agrees that GeoTours LLC assumes no liability whatsoever for loss of property, injury, accident, illness, death, irregularity and delays during the duration of the tour. In addition, the program participant agrees to hold GeoTours LLC harmless for damage, delay, or cancellation due to equipment problems, quarantine, declared or undeclared war and insurrection, terrorist and criminal activity, revolt, civil disturbance, hostility, military action, strikes, labor unrest, any “act of God” or nature and for any act of any third party. The participant, by registering for this tour, agrees that GeoTours LLC is not responsible for delay, rerouting, omission and additional expense resulting from the passenger’s improper travel documents such as passport, visa and health document. Any losses and expenses related to such circumstances are within the responsibility of the program participants and not of GeoTours LLC.
