Firebirds Raise Over

$100,000 for local

Charities

The Flint Firebirds are proud

to announce they have raised

over $100,000 for local

charities in Flint & Genesee

County.

Two checks for $2,444.51 will

be given to The Hurley

Foundation and The

Community Foundation.

The Firebirds will present a

third check to the United Way

of Genesee County for

$11,447.00.

The checks presented come

from the fundraising efforts of

the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club

who earned a combined

$4,889.02. Sting fans were

encouraged to bring cash to

donate at the game against

the Firebirds . Two dollars

from every ticket purchased

would be donated to the City

of Flint to help alleviate the

water crisis.

Firebirds team president, Costa

Papista stated: “Our goal has

been to integrate ourselves into

the fabric of the Flint and

Genesee County community. I

am proud of our organization,

fans, and numerous charity and

corporate partners. We have

definitely made a positive

impact on the community as

we intended.”

“Like others, we wanted to

show our support during their

time of need,” said Sarnia

Sting President, Bill

Abercrombie. “As an OHL

member team, we felt that a

fundraiser was the least we

could do for our friends across

the border. The people of

Sarnia-Lambton have always

rallied around the initiatives

we have supported in the past,

and once again answered our

call.”

through direct deposit or

tangible checks

Occupational

Therapists Help

Residents Live Fuller

Lives

The sense of renewal that

comes with spring is reflected

in the declaration of April as

Occupational Therapy month.

Within senior health

campuses, Occupational

Therapists prepare residents to

return home following an

illness, injury, or onset of a

disability. Occupational

Therapy assists in regaining

their optimal level of

functioning and helps them

step back into their normal

daily roles.

Occupational Therapy is also

beneficial to long-term

residents by helping them

remain as independent as

possible, for as long as

possible. Occupational

Therapists are skilled in

adapting daily tasks to the

needs of residents as they age

or progress through stages of

an illness, providing them with

an enhanced quality of life

while also helping them retain

their dignity throughout the

aging process.

Virus Vs Scam

If you’ve been on your

computer these past few

months you may have noticed

the latest virus craze that’s

been circulating amongst your

friends on social media. You

receive a phone call saying

that your computer is badly

infected with viruses and the

caller is worried that you

maybe transferring these

viruses to your friends on

facebook. The caller will then

take control of your computer

and run a fake program

showing all the infections that

they will happily take care of

for a fee. The sad news is,

your computer was probably

fine and you just got scammed.

If you suspect your computer

is infected, take it to someone

you can trust, CC&R,

Computer Care and Repair of

Grand Blanc. Give JR a call at

(810) 953-5100. He’ll be

happy to help.
