SampleThe tragic event that occurred in September 11th, 2001, when several airplane hijackers rode two American airplanes into the World Trade Center in New York City, rose several opinions about the motives of the attackers. At the time, George W. Bush was President According to President Bush, “America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world.” The U.S. government goes on to link the attack of 9/11 to Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia who were reportedly financed by Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda. The motive of the attack on 9/11 is stimulated by the United States’ militant activity in the Middle East. The United States’ support of Israel and involvement in the Gulf Persian War created hatred towards Americans. Ramzi Yousef, a terrorist from the Middle East, was one of the main contributors to the attack of the World Trade Center in 1993. After the bombing in 1993, Yousef’s laptop was recovered in the Philippines and a message on his computer read: “If the U.S. government keeps supporting Israel… then we will continue to carry out operations inside and outside the Unites States… All people who support the U.S. government are our targets in our future plans, and that is because all those people are responsible for their government’s actions and they support the U.S. foreign policy and are satisfied with it.” (Pg.138.Bamford) Ramzi is just one of the many individuals in the Middle East that share the same belief towards the U.S. government.
