    Course Synopsis

    This is an individual research project inconnection with a special engineering

    problem and under the guidance of afaculty member.

    The project undertaken may fall under oneof the following areas; mathematicalanalysis, experimental tests, computersimulation, hardware and/or softwaredevelopment, device fabrication.

    Course Outcome (FYP1 only)

    At the end of this course, students should be able to:

    Produce an acceptable project proposal

    Obtain information and data from related literatures

    Evaluate the relevance and quality of literature

    obtained.

    Identify various implementation strategies.

    Propose appropriate methodology (experiment,design, modeling)

    Produce report of the project and present orally.

    Introduction

    6 credit hours / 2 semesters project /Individual

    Working under guidance of supervisor(s)

    Purpose of FYPThe purpose of the project is to develop a

    framework, which will enhance students' skills inthe process ofapplying knowledge, expandingthoughts, solving problems independently andpresenting findings through minimum guidanceand supervision.

    Scope of work

    Laboratory experiments/ Modeling /Simulations / Plant project

    Students are to explore research/design

    problems, build research/designobjectives, apply appropriatemethodology, analyse and/or produce theoutcomes and report the findings.

    The project work must exhibit element oforiginality, which indicates the maturitylevel for the final year bachelor degreeprogramme.

    BARRING OF STUDENT

    Based on Academic Committee instruction and decision.

    Barring from continuing the project

    Students shall be barred from the project on week 9 iftheextended proposal are not submitted. As a consequence,students will earn a grade of F.

    Students will also be barred if they do not officially propose thetopic (fail to submit Form 1 & 2).

    Barring from presentation

    FYP 2 Students shall be barred from the presentation if they donot participate in both the seminar and exposition. As a

    consequence, students will earn a grade of F and will not beallowed to submit their thesis.

    Students who did not attend the oral proposal defence/finalpresentation will earn a grade of F

    PLAGIARISMPlagiarism is the act of obtaining or attempting
