  • Module 11Troubleshooting, Management, Monitoring, and DiagnosticsIng. Jos Patio S.

  • OverviewThis module will cover the basics of troubleshooting. It begins by examining a methodology that breaks down the process of troubleshooting into manageable steps. Next, a variety of tools will be introduced that are used to troubleshoot a WLAN. These tools include cable testers, sniffers, and spectrum analyzers. A brief discussion of system logging and single point of failure troubleshooting will be presented. Finally, enterprise management tools will be explored.Ing. Jos Patio S.

*****************Proactive monitoring of access points, LEAP authentication servers, and switches connected to access points is critical to improving and ensuring WLAN uptime. Faults generated by the WLSE when performance degrades and when devices become overloaded allow network engineers to proactively solve potential problems with the WLAN before end-users experience becomes unbearable. The WLSE identifies the most utilized access points in a group in terms of throughput and client associations. Network administrators can use these data for capacity planning, to decide where performance is adequate and where it is inadequate and to prove return on investment for current WLAN deployment and to justify further investment.Network administrators need tools to accelerate client problem troubleshooting and the WLSE provides these tools. Client problem troubleshooting is accelerated for WLSE users with current and historical client association reports.
