The Farthest North Military Golf Course in the World has been ranked #1 Golf Course in Alaska numerous times. Numerous tournaments are hosted at Chena Bend Golf Course annually.

Over 250 spouses celebrated Military Spouse Appreciation Day 2011. The theme was an Alaskan Adventure where we featured many outdoor activities, camping tricks, tools of the trade, Alaskan fashion show, and lunch.

LIBRARY READING PROGRAM2011 - 2012estimated participation: 1,500This exciting educational program engages both children and adults. The Adult Reading Program promotes literacy and is held in conjunction with the FNSB Noel Wien Public Library. The Children’s Reading Program boosts comprehension levels with increased vocabulary, socialization, and even self-discipline while earning prizes!

The 2011 summer Reading Programs had almost 1,500 children and adult participants, while the winter Cabin Fever Reading Program included over 50 adults participants.

The Army Family Action Plan, AFAP provides the Army Community a “voice” in shaping their standards of living and identifying issues related to the current environment.

Fort Wainwright volunteers are integral in the success of our annual AFAP Conference. Volunteers work in teams comprised of a delegate, facilitator, recorder, transcriber, issue disposition person, or conference committee member to identify, evaluate and prioritize the top community issues to be presented to Commanders and Army leaders for resolution.
