Open to Judy and Zak walking up to Fuzz & Malloy siting nextto a campfire.

JUDY

Hey guys... Whats up?

MALLOYOh, good. Everyones here.

Judy and Zak sit down.

ZAKSo why did you guys call us outhere this late?

JUDYyeah! What the hell, its like 3AM.

FUZZChill, this is important. We arehere to tell a spooky story!

Suddenly a wolf starts howling at the moon.

JUDYOh, so you guys are doing a "Areyou afraid of the dark" kind ofthing.

MALLOY

Shhhh! You want us to get sued?

A sound from the bush freaks Zak out. He jumps up scared.

ZAKWhats that?

MALLOYOh, thats just Larry.

FUZZWhat!? Larrys here?

MALLOYyeah Larrys here. He follows useverywhere.

Malloy yells for Larry to come out.

MALLOYYo, Larry. Come out here and joinus.

FUZZWhat?

Larry walks out of the dark and sits down with the group.

LARRYHello! MY NAME IS LARRY SWANSON!

Fuzz starts to flip out.

FUZZNo, No Way Dude! I have to put myfoot down. Larry cant be here!

MALLOY

Why?

FUZZWhy? What do you mean why? Dude! Iknow our show can be a little hardto follow sometimes, but Im prettysure that Larry is the bad guy inthe show.

MALLOYNo man, its cool. This is aspecial. Its separate from themain time-line of the show, yet

still allows us to build upon theback story of yet unexplainedcharacters.

FUZZGot it. Cool.

JUDYWhat the hell are you two talkingabout?

MALLOYDont worry about it.

FUZZSo like Malloy was saying, we havegathered her tonight in order totell you guys a spooky story.

Malloy hands Fuzz a leather bag of sand.

Fuzz stops mid-sentence and looks over at Malloy.

FUZZAre we allowed to say that?

Malloy shrugs.

MALLOY

Were not making any money offthis.

Fuzz shrugs.

Fuzz throws the sand into the fire. The fire flairs up.

2 EXT./DAY/CITY OF LA

A young woman getting off of a city buss, then walking downthe street. She is holding a guitar in one hand and asuitcase in the other.

MALLOY (NARRATED)Sarah was a dreamer. One day shejust packed up and left her hometown. She wanted a life of fame andadventure.

FUZZ (NARRATED)She was the kind of person thatwanted to be great at something,but was always too afraid to tryanything. But finally she decidedto go for it.

3 INT./DAY/SARAHS ROOM

Sarah is unpacking her things. The room she is staying in issmall and has four other beds. One of Sarahs new roommates(Rudy) walks in and out in the background.

MALLOY (NARRATED)She enrolled into a private schoolfor musicians.

Fuzz interrupts Malloy.

FUZZ (NARRATED)The school gave her a chance tomeet some new friends. Sarah wasalways kind of a loner, but shemanage to make friends with herroommates Ruby and Jen. Things werefinally looking up for Sarah.

4 EXT./DAY/PARK

There are five people in the park siting on the jungle gym.Sarah, Ruby, Jen, Sam and Kasey. Sam and Ruby are playingtogether while the others sit and watch. After a sec shefinishes up. The group "claps".

SAMNice.

RUBY

Nailed it!

Sam And Ruby exchange high fives.

KASEYBravo guys!

Sam puts his guitar away.

SAMSo whos next?

KASEYI think thats me.

RUBYWell then, the floor is yours sir.

(Ruby is flirting with Kasey he responds in kind.)

KASEYThank you, my lady.

Kasey starts to play a song. The song goes on for a bit.Everyone seems to enjoy it. Sam (siting next to her) tapsSarah on the shoulder.

SAMLook at how "Gaga" Ruby looksdrooling over Kasey.

Sam points at Ruby. Ruby seems to be mesmerized by Kaseysplaying.

SAMHow pathetic is that?

SARAHBe nice.

When Kasey is finished everyone applauds.

RUBYYeah! Wooh!

Sarah smiles at Kasey.

SARAHThat was really good.

Kasey Smiles back.

KASEYThanks.

Ruby looks back and forth between Sarah and Kasey. Rubystarts to become jealous.

RUBYWhy dont you play something for usSarah?

SARAHOh... ah..

SAMYeah, play something?

SARAHI.. ah.. I cant.

RUBYWhats the problem?

SARAHI dont know how... not yet anyway.Thats why Im here. I... want to

learn... how.

Ruby, Jen and Sam start laughing. Kasey just looks at Sarahand smiles.

KASEYThats cool. It takes a lot of gutsto do that

SARAHThanks.

Sarah smiles, Ruby looks at her with jealousy and anger.

RUBYWhatever.

5 INT./MORNING/SCHOOL HALLWAY

Sarah is walking down the halls of her school to get toclass. She stops when she notices Ruby walking by.

SARAHEy Ruby, thanks again for invitingme yesterday. It was fun. Everyone

was really nice.

RUBYYeah, you seemed like you werehaving a good time flirting withKasey.

SARAHWhat, I wasnt.

RUBYSave it. It doesnt really evenmatter. Go ahead, go for it. Icant wait for that show.

SARAHWhy are you acting crazy?

RUBYIm not acting crazy! Im just sickof posers like you coming to this

Sarah grabs her guitar and runs away.

6 EXT./DAY/CITY OF LA

Sarah is walking down the street crying. She looks over tothe other side of the street. She notices a mysteriouslooking shop. After a second she walks in.

7 INT./DAY/PAWN SHOP

Sarah walks in. A man steps out of the shadows (Jeffrey).

JEFFREYCan I help you?

Sarah jumps, surprised by the mans sudden appearance.

SARAHNo... Im Just looking around.

JEFFREYWhats wrong my dear?

SARAHIm just,.. It was stupid. Ishouldnt have come here. Im nevergoing to be able to do this.

JEFFREYYes, yes, I understand. Its hardto be a struggling musician in thistown. How long have you beenplaying? Two, three years?

SARAHActually I havent learned anythingyet.

JEFFREYAnd its already too hard. Tough

break kid.

Sarah looks a little ashamed.

JEFFREYWell dont worry my little lady. Imight have just the thing to helpyou.

Jeffrey jumps up and runs around the store looking forsomething. After a sec he finds in and returns to Sarah. Heholds out his hand to reveal a jewel.

SARAHWhat is it?

Jeffrey waves his other hand over the jewel. Once it passesover the jewel, it becomes a guitar pick.

JEFFREYIts whatever you want it to be,and it can take any shape it needstoo.

SARAHI dont understand.

JEFFREYThis is one of twelve ancientjewels. They were created for anevil warlord. He ran a mightyempire, and had armies of strongmen at his command. But he, on theother hand, had a very week body.He was born with the birth right torule, but that wasnt good enough.He desired a physical strength thatwould match his ruling power. So hehad twelve of these things made. Hefashioned them to look like weaponsand gave them to his top generals.Once used in battle, they absorbedall of the skills the generals had,until leaving them weak and thewarlord the most powerful man ofthat age.

JEFFREYSeeing is believing, my dear. Give

it a try. Have someone play withthis and see if you dont suddenlyimprove.

Sarah reaches out and grabs the pick from Jeffreys hand.Before she can pull away, he grabs her arm.

JEFFREYBut be warned girl! If you giveanything too much power, it canstart to get a mind of its own.

SARAH

Oh...OK

Sarah walks out of the pawn shop a little spooked.

8 INT./NIGHT/SARAHS DORM.

Sarah is siting inside the dorm looking at the pick. After abit, Jen walks in.

JENHey Sarah

SARAHHey Jen.

Jen sits down next to Sarah.

JENLook I know Ruby can be a bit evilsometimes, but shes really not abad person.

SARAHMaybe youre right.

Sarah looks at the pick on the table, picks it up, and dropsit in the trash.

JENI mean, you were kind of asking forit, hitting on Kasey like that.

JENWhatever! I got to go. Im late for

my audition. I have to do a solo infront of a bunch of people in orderto keep my scholarship.

SARAHOh in that case, here I have a giftfor you.

Sarah grabs the pick out of the trash and hands it to Jen.

JENWhy would I want your trash?

SARAHIts not trash. it was Steve Vais.

JENWhat!? No way?

SARAHYeah, I just threw it away becauseit was given to me by my exboyfriend. But you should have it.

JENThanks. OK, well, wish me luck.

SARAHGood luck.

9 INT./NIGHT/AUDITION ROOM.

Jen is siting and waiting for here turn to play. Finaly theycall her name. She gets up and gets ready to play. Then shestarts to play.


Sarah and Ruby are in the dorm. There is a knock at thedoor. Ruby gets up to answer it. Its Kasey at the door.

RUBYKasey!

KASEYHey Ruby, is Sarah here?

Ruby yells for Sarah.

RUBY

(annoyed)Yeah. Sarah! Someone here to seeyou!

Ruby stumps away. She snaps at Sarah as she walks by.

RUBYYour unbelievable!

Ruby walks out of the room. Sarah walks up to greet Kasey.

SARAHHey Kasey, whats up?

KASEYI just came by to give you this.Its some tabs that I used when Iwas getting started on guitar.

SARAHWow, thanks Kasey.

Just then, Jen walks past Kasey and Sarah and into thehouse, looking like a zombie. Both Sarah and Kasey go andcheck on her.

KASEYJen, are you OK?

JENI bombed... I just chocked.

KASEYOh man.

JENI dont know what Im gonna do....I needed that scholarship. Imgoing to have to go home..

KASEYIt will be OK.

Sarah looks over at the pick lying on the floor next toJens guitar.

11 INT./DAY/PARK

Sarah is sitting in the park with Kasey, playing her guitar.She is playing well. The pick has obviously increased herskill. After a sec Ruby walks up.

RUBYwell arent you little miss rockstar all of the sudden.

SARAHWhat do you want, Ruby?

RUBYIm just wondering how a littleposer like you, just magically overnight, become queen of the mt.

KASEY

What is your problem, Ruby? Youvebeen giving Sarah a hard time eversince she got here.

SARAHYeah, just leave me alone!

RUBYNo! Who do you think you are! Firstyou take Jens spot in the show andnow your trying to act like youresomething. But youre not. Yourenothing!

KASEYThats it. I think you need to go.

SARAHNo Kasey, its fine. Can you justgive us a moment?

KASEYSure.

Kasey reluctantly walks away.

SARAHFine! You know what. Your right!Ill tell you my secret. It ismagic.

Sarah Shows Ruby the pick.

SARAHThis is a magic pick, It gives methe power to be a great musician.

RUBYYeah, right.

SARAHFine, dont believe me.

Ruby grabs the pick from Sarah.

RUBYIll take that.

Ruby walks off.

SARAHGo ahead.


Cut to Sarah in the dorm. Suddenly Ruby busts in.

RUBYI know what youve done.

SARAHWhat are you talking about?

START OF FLASHBACK

13 INT./DAY/SCHOOL

Ruby is playing in class. She starts out playing very well,but after a bit, the pick starts to glow. It pulls some kindof energy from Rubys body and absorbs it. Ruby slowlyrealizes that she can no longer play.

RUBY (V.O.)I could feel it... I was playingand I felt it flow out of me fromthe tips of my fingers. All thetime, all the work I ever put intomusic, went right into that pick.

SARAHWell maybe then its time for you

to go. I dont think theres roomin this school for poser loserslike you.

Ruby starts laughing

RUBYOnce I realized what you have done,I couldnt just let you win. I raninto Kasey outside. He was on hisway to practice at school, so Igave him your pick.

SARAHWhat!? No! Ive got to help him!

RUBYIts too late. Hes already there.

SARAHKasey, no!

Sarah runs out of the dorm.

15 EXT./NIGHT/LA

Sarah runs to find Kasey at her school.

16 INT./NIGHT/SCHOOL ROOM

Kasey gets ready to play. Sarah runs in just as he starts.

SARAHNo. Stop!

The door is locked. Sarah tries to get Kaseys attention,but it is too late. He starts to play, but instead ofgetting worse, he starts playing better then ever. The songKasey is playing gets more and more intense until finallyKasey strums the guitar and is suddenly sucked into thepick. Sarah screams!

SARAHAaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Sarah runs in frantically looking for Jeffrey.

SARAHMister! Hey mister, are you here?

Jeffrey walks out of the shadows.

JEFFREYHello Sarah. How can I help you?

Sarah tries to give the pick to Jeffrey.

SARAHHere. Take it. I dont want it! Butplease help me! My friend istrapped in there!

JEFFREYWhat are you talking about?

SARAHThe pick. It... it just sucked himin.

JEFFREYOh, you stupid little girl. I triedto warn you not to give it too muchpower! Now look at what youvedone.

SARAHI dont understand. What happened?

JEFFREYYour lust for skill gave it life!your need for vengeance made itevil, and finally your friend gaveit a form.

SARAHHow do I save him?

JEFFREYDont worry about him. Hes donefor. Hes a rock demon now. All youcan do now, is get ride of thething before the demon possessesyou.

JEFFREYAre you joking? I still have elevenmore of these things I need to get

rid of.

SARAHYoure the warlord.

JEFFREYWow, I think shes starting to getit. Yes, the legend I told you wastrue. The jewels not only gave methe skills to fight. I was cursedto live the full duration of mygenerals lives, all put together.I will not be able to rest until I

have passed on all twelve.

SARAHYour a monster!

JEFFREYIm the monster? Thats funny. AllI ever wanted was to move past thephysical limitations of my body.You on the other-hand, wanted skillwithout work, success withoutputting in the time. You could havepracticed, and eventually would

have gotten there.

Sarah just looks at Jeffrey ashamed and sad.

JEFFREYOne thing you should never forgetgirl; almost nothing worth havingcomes easy. And if it does... itcomes with a price!

Jeffrey starts laughing... finally Sarah leaves the pawnshop sad.

18 EXT./MORNING/LA

Sarah is siting on the street very sad. Shes holding thepick. After a sec she throws it on the sidewalk.

Sarah runs off. The pick just sits there for a bit. Thenafter a few moments, Fuzz & Malloy skates by.

FUZZ (NARRATED)Thats when we showed up!

Malloy skates right past the pick, but Fuzz stops and picksup the pick. As soon as he does, a ghost like Kasey coveredin blood goes into Fuzzs body. Fuzz is dazed for a sec.Malloy stops and turns around.

MALLOYAre you OK, Fuzz?

Fuzz shacks it off.

FUZZYeah... Im fine.

Fuzz & Malloy skates away.

19 EXT./NIGHT/CAMPFIRE

Fuzz and Malloy are done telling there story. Everyone looksa little disappointed.

Fuzz throws up his arms and yells!

FUZZAnd thats how I got possessed byThe Rock Demon!

The group just looks at Fuzz & Malloy.

ZAKSeriously? Seriously guys? Thiswhole thing was so that you couldtry to get me to believe thatyoure possessed?

FUZZI am!

MALLOYNo, its true. Some drifter on thestreet told him.

FUZZYeah and Ive been having scarydreams. I mean... real scarydreams... Its pretty bloody stuff.I remember thinking that it was alittle dark for a Fuzz and Malloy

episode.

MALLOYWe really did this so you guyswould understand that Fuzz isindeed possessed by a demon of therock and roll verity.

JUDYAs your therapist guys, I feel theneed to tell you that, thisdelusion that your life is a show,is not healthy. When you guys talk

to the camera, you must realizethat youre just staring out atnothing narrating your voice to noone. And fuzz, youre notpossessed.

FUZZI am.

MALLOYHe really is.

JUDY

Screw this! You guys are crazy.

Judy walks off screen.

ZAKwell... goodnight guys.

Zak walks away.

MALLOYWell I liked the story, did youLarry?

Larry just looks at Malloy for a sec.
