Page 3: Future Trends

Problem 1

• Services and help come at a hefty price• Only rich can afford help• Poor or middle-class must work

independently• Rich: more skilled, better opportunities• Widening gap

Page 4: Future Trends

Problem 1 (cont’d)

• Study: gap causes poor to borrow from rich

• Debt-to-income ratio: 1.5 as of 2010• Might have caused global recessions

Page 5: Future Trends

Problem 2

• People before university are spoonfed• No control over decisions in life eg. Career

paths• Over-reliant; require help for all their

endeavours

Page 6: Future Trends

Problem 2 (cont’d)

• Study: Students given tests 3 years after graduation

• Test of memory retention• Spoonfed students did poorly

Page 7: Future Trends

Problem 3

• Lack of scholarships• Underprivileged youths deprived of

opportunities• Unearthed gems and talents

Page 8: Future Trends

Problem 3 (cont’d)

• Scholarships that benefit all financial groups today

• Given to anyone who displays all-rounded characters

• Eg. PSC, President’s Scholarship• Future: Does not exist

Page 9: Future Trends

Problem 4

• Adults in 2047 are too self-reliant.• Will not seek help or ask for assistance.• Make same mistakes repeatedly• Stagnant

Page 10: Future Trends

Problem 4 (cont’d)

• Report by Arizona Republic• Young adults might have to solve their

own problems in future• No one to turn to when in need• Shoulder the responsibility of their

financial and work lives

Page 11: Future Trends

Problem 5

• Face-to-face communication is rare• Caused by over-advancement of

technology• Relationships no longer close knit• People lose their social skills• Society becomes unfriendly

Page 12: Future Trends

Problem 5 (cont’d)

• Study: 75% of teenagers between 12 and 17 have cell phones

• Teachers: texting tends to cause social shyness and awkwardness

Page 13: Future Trends

Fundamental Problem

• Given that the scenario states that relationships in 2047 are poor, leading to selfishness as well as a cold society,

• It could be a problem for the people in 2047 as society will become a place where:– Nobody cares for one another– Nobody is able to communicate properly on a

face-to-face basis

Page 14: Future Trends

Fundamental Problem (cont’d)

• How might we improve relationships between members of the society

• Such that society becomes a much friendlier place in 2047?
